Rollerman 290 #2 Posted August 23, 2009 Do you have a belt guard on it?...without it the clutching action won't work correctly. Is the drive belt OEM or a proper length to disangage?...if it's to tight it won't disangage & I've seen a few old Horses with wrong sized generic cheapy belts on them. Once your past the obvious & if your still haveing problems I'd look into the clutch/idler pulley & make sure it's working correct.
sodbuster 1 #3 Posted August 23, 2009 havent torn into it yet.it does he belt guard on it.should it have a little play in the belt??
stevasaurus 22,273 #4 Posted August 25, 2009 the tension pully tightens the belt...after you have tried the above, try cleaning the pullys with mineral spirits...the pullys need to be able to slip when the clutch is disenguaged...do not use belt grip on the belt, it is all about the tension. :thumbs2:
