If you need to, take the fasteners off both ends of the auger so you can pull that whole assembly forward and out. This is a good time to inspect those paddles. Straighten them before assembly the latest on 79366 for dummies, first i figured out if you take off the 8 side bolts it seperates and easier to work on,lol now i took off plate with grease fitting on and there is another plate that doesn;t come off ? and how does the bearing come out ? i haven;t taked the auger off, trying to do without having to but if its the only way i will Edited January 19, 2024 by papadave
WHX?? 51,716 #30 Posted January 19, 2024 That bearing may be a locking collar bearing which needs to be loosened first. Shows only one key in there #36 what is the condition of that? Bearing may not need to come off at all if it's ok.
papadave 8 #31 Posted January 20, 2024 i have 31 off and the key thats in rough shape so will be replacing, its 26 that doesn;t come off,can the bearing come off the shaft or is the only way to punch it out by taking off auger ?
wallfish 18,072 #32 Posted January 20, 2024 (edited) The bearing slides off the shaft. then the other cage #26 will come off with it. Easier said than done sometimes. Maybe some heat will help. You don't want to hammer that shaft into the front auger gearbox. It's a brass worm gear in there and will get destroyed if you hammer the shaft directly into it if it's still braced. If you remove both side plates or the auger bearings that will remove the support on the gearbox and you can try and hammer the shaft through the bearing. Knock that bearing back and forth on the shaft and eventually it will come off. Edited January 20, 2024 by wallfish
