B-80 Kohler Info

Pogo 57

Have a K181S from and  my 1974 B-80 4 Speed.  Engine smokes.  ILooking at a ring job and suggestion on how far to go.  Problem is the original tg is missing.  Someone put a new tag that was engraved with I hope the right info.  Can anyone help?  Thanks as always guys.

Pretty straight forward. If you don't have cylinder measuring tools, I would take it to a good small engine machine shop and have it measured. They can determine what it needs. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to just need a cylinder honing and new rings.

Just figure on a full blown rebuild and you'll be set for 40 more years. 

I'm lucky and have a brother who has the bore measuring tools but yes best let a machine shop do it if you don't have that bro. Then you can order the proper piston/ring/rod set you might need. 

Most problems we all have now is finding the shop that is willing and proficient in messing with our motors. 

You really don't need the name plate. I just did a K301 that is sadly missing it but having the Kohler manual is a must.
