Kudos for a great save :music-rockon: Many would have never gone to the trouble. What a shame that would have been. :wh:

I ordered a new a new spring cap and when that arrived I compressed the valve retainer spring, added the new cap, and very carefully reset the retainers. I added a new head gasket and torqued it to the suggested specifications. With all the issues with the carb I ordered a replacement

Good work.

What exactly is wrong with the original carb?

Not rebuildable?

Hello,

I really needed to get it back working or pickup something else. I was able to get the valve retainer spring cap fairly quickly so I decided to order the carb to save time and possibly avoid some other issue with rebuilding it.

Bull

Understandable.

Hopefully that new carb will treat you well.

If you want me to check over and rebuild the original Kohler carb send me a pm.

:woohoo:        Glad you were able to get it worked out,        :twocents-02cents:           It is a good idea to re-torque the head bolts after your first operation.
