WHwest8597 85 #1 Posted August 13, 2023 I bought a 1993 314H recently. I noticed the engine isn't running smoothly. The sparkplug got dirty shortly after replacing, the tractor seems to go through gas quicker than my 314-8. Backfires when turning off. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
8ntruck 7,789 #2 Posted August 13, 2023 Sounds like it might be running ritch. Is the air filter clean? Have you cleaned the carb? I don't remember right now exactly what the proper main jet setting is. It might be 2 1/2 turns from closed as a starting point. I'm sure somebody will be along who knows for sure. ebinmaine 72,450 #3 Posted August 13, 2023 Agreed. Start with doing the proper maintenance it was obvious lacking. You'll want to replace every inch of fuel line. Get the carb off and rebuild it. While you're there it would be a great time to check the valve clearances. Replace air and fuel filters. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
