Drive spindle for the B-70 deck / blade mount

Recommended Posts

Noticed some excessive noise while mowing on Saturday. While checking things I found the center blade had a good 1/4 to 1/2 inch movement like a teeter totter.

Pulled the deck, figured the mounting bolt for the blade loosened up. But it was tight. Found the shaft too long to take up the play with the bolt fully tightened. None of the other 2 are like that.

Last summer I replaced the spindles as part of the deck overhaul, as bearings are not available by them selves.

Not sure why this happened or has gone un noticed this whole mowing season.

Ended up adding spacers between the factory washer and the blade to allow the bolt to take up the gap.

Perhaps the shaft is moving downward within the spindle assembly?

If anyone else is having similar issue, I found some electrical reducing washers to be great for this.
