pond195520032003 27 #3 Posted February 10, 2008 Yea what he said or it could be that the pi/ball bearing's is worn or the spring is weak in the transmission you have to split the case to replace them done it before, first time a few years ago and when the outer bearing flew out in landed in a pile of leaves took me 2 hours to find it :P
Rollerman 290 #4 Posted February 10, 2008 It only comes out of 1st? Thats a new one on me...I have seen 2nd & 3rd haveing that issue...I've even bought my share of parts tractors with the accessory bungee strap. TR Digger's is good advice too...always a good idea to doble check the set screw at the base of the shifter....no (54) & (55) in the diagram. THe spring Greg Mentioned is (15) I would say another problem might be the shift rails (11 & (12) have become worn too not letteing the detent ball & spring do there job. Snug the set screw first & see if that helps.
Banjo 0 #5 Posted May 4, 2008 I originally posted this in the winter and the info was incorrect. It is actually popping out of 3rd, and yes, it has the bungie cord option now too LOL.
Banjo 0 #6 Posted May 4, 2008 check the pin and set screw that hold the shifter in place... just a thought I can see those items in tickster's diagram but can I get to them without pulling the fenders or anything? Is the square cast they go into just below the shifter boot so I don't have to take the tranny apart?
Banjo 0 #7 Posted May 4, 2008 Yea what he said or it could be that the pi/ball bearing's is worn or the spring is weak in the transmission you have to split the case to replace them done it before, first time a few years ago and when the outer bearing flew out in landed in a pile of leaves took me 2 hours to find it I bet it was not funny at the time but..LOL!
