nhrc1 1 #1 Posted August 10, 2009 Newbie Group: Members Posts: 2 Member No.: 1,396 Joined: April 09, 2009 Online Hi I've been lurking and learning for a while, now I have a question... I have a 76 D 160 16HP Onan, it starts and runs fine but when I lower the throttle to the "turtle" position it doesn't idle down right away. It takes 30 seconds or more. The linkage seems to return all the way but does not low idle right away. Any help would be appreciated.
Coadster32 793 #2 Posted August 10, 2009 :thumbs2: I'm not expert on Onan but maybe the high side setting is too rich. When you try to idle it down, it burns off the extra before it gets there? Just guessing. I don't own an Onan motor.
clintonnut 126 #3 Posted August 11, 2009 open the hood and move the throttle and see if the throttle cable binds which means it needs lube. Also try unhooking the cable and moving the governor arm with your finger and let off.. You might also need a new throttle return spring. Charlie
