Kelly 1,033 #1 Posted August 5, 2009 I found a 268H 1999 Toro Wheel horse, with less than 300hours but no deck what will fit it? will a 300 series deck fit? it has a blower and snow blade. I'm pretty sure it's a vert shaft tractor, but it is the large tractor not the little vert, I have not seen it in person, just pictures.
wh500special 2,281 #2 Posted August 5, 2009 Kelly, The 260's have their own hanger system so the conventional C-style decks won't fit. It seems like LOTS of NOS decks for the 260's pop up on eBay all the time. They offered 38" SD, 42" SD, 48" SD, and 52" SD. I don't think the 52" will fit any of the 260's except for the 269H and the 270H (yes, the 270 is a 260-series w/ a 20 hp engine). New Holland/Ford also sold this tractor with blue paint. There it was the LS series (LS-45, LS-55, etc). Same deck offerings. The 260's are great mowing machines, but their ***** is probably the relatively flimsy transaxles. More of a large lawn tractor than anything else. I have a 264 and have mowed with it and think it is a great rider. It turns very tightly, has a smooth ride, and is pretty quiet. Also kind of a nice experience to look out over that long hood. Great tractors, but don't seem to have much collector appeal. Steve
Kelly 1,033 #3 Posted August 5, 2009 Looking at it for a mowing machine, and maybe a snow blower, I like the tilt wheel and foot hydro, my green and yellow mower is getting tired, but I love how it mows, also foot hydro, with a 17hp water cooled Kawasaki in it, and a 48" deck, but's pushing 20 years old and it's just a mower not a tractor. wh500special 2,281 #4 Posted August 5, 2009 ...with a 17hp water cooled Kawasaki in it... There is a LOT of room under the hood of a 260-series. I'd bet you could fit that LC twin Kawi under there and have a heckuva nice machine ... Or got to smallenginewarehouse and order a Yanmar v-twin vertical diesel LC ... If you can find a deck for it I don't think you'll be disappointed. They can handle a tiller and blade as well, but are really just awesome mowing machines. The foot control really works nicely on them and the tilt wheel and nice dashboard are pleasant touches too. Steve
