Bow_Extreme 575 #1 Posted August 4, 2009 Well I need some questions answered rather quickly as I need to figure out if I'm going to purchase a GT-14. This is a 1970 GT-14. It has a very fresh rebuilt Kohler 14HP that sounds and runs like a million dollars. The hydro fomr what I can gather has been rebuilt in the last few years and seems to run strong and I believe it has been rebuilt in the last few years and it seems to be very quiet. The tractor is pretty clean, not rusty, and the paint is pretty good. The hood needs a little work and the gas tank has been patched once at the very bottom near the valve. The tank doesn't seem to leak but doesn't look very pretty either. The upper switch counsel pieces are gone and there is currently a piece of wood installed and some very red neck switches for the electric clutch and lights. The tires need to be replaced as they are original and leak badly due to extreme weather checking. It comes with a 54" front blade which has the cutting edge welded to the blade due to too much wear on the blade itself. The 42" deck shell is 100% soilid, no rust, really no damage at all and is one of the best looking shells I've seen. The mounting hardware needs some work though and a couple idler pulleys need to to be replaced. The seat is missing the upper portion and the lower center counsel needs to be replaced. Bottom line, the tractor is disant, needs some work and some money dumped into it but a very solid tractor. Asking price is $450 obo. I was thinking of offering $300.00 but with needing new tires that would cost at least that much. The wheels are in very good condition. The tractor comes with many extra parts, starters, solenoids, etc. The wiring could probably use some work but it doesn't appear too bad. Any suggestions as I don't know GT-14's all that well. Thank you very much.
Bow_Extreme 575 #2 Posted August 4, 2009 Anyone? Is this worth the money?
Duff 206 #3 Posted August 4, 2009 Bow, I don't know GT-14's except that those that have 'em seem to love them. As to the price, given your description I don't see where you'll get hurt if you can get it for anything in the 300-350 range. If the engine and hydro are both rebuilt and strong, that alone is worth some real money I would think. And the 42" deck if really solid is worth a few bucks as well. But like the guys here have said, it's all in what it's worth to you. JMHO. Good luck! Duff :thumbs2:
refracman 167 #4 Posted August 4, 2009 If its a good running and driving tractor, it alone is worth the price. The plow will bring 150, because not only the size but it will fit everything, except a D250. The deck will fit the 69-72 tractors, going price for them is 100-200 depending on condition. I would have to say it a good price at 450 and even better if you can get it for less :thumbs2:

I still need to discuss a C195 with you sometime.
