Need help 312-a won't crank motor over

I have a 312-a wheel horse. It started fine ran for 20 minutes I shut it off to walk inside for a moment and now it won't start. The starter engages but won't crank the motor over. I've tried to jump it and nothing changes. I'm at a loss at the moment
