oilydavid 1 #1 Posted May 5, 2023 Having had fuel starvation I replaced the fuel pump and cannot get it to work.. it was a proper replacement part.I have tried trickling fuek into it and filled carb on engeing to run engine and give pump chance to work but no luck.. fuel comes through from tank to input pipe if I take it off and lower it 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

pacer 3,177 #6 Posted May 5, 2023 If it is an Onan then its should have a "Pulse" pump, and these do indeed fail occasionally. But if you indeed have replaced it with the correct pump it should have worked, they are very basic and usually they work or not. Although, I recently had a quite rare occurance - when I replaced the pump it still would not move fuel ----- after much head scratching thinking that the pulse hose from the engine rarely, if ever fails, I finally decided to ck it anyway- since everything else ckd out. I rigged a temporary gas tank to the carb (and the engine ran just fine) and placed my thump over the 'pulse' hose and ......... nothing!! Oddly enough that was the problem! Not wanting to tear into the engine to find the cause I just ordered up an electric fuel pump and .... TADA!! ran beautifully! To ck yours disconnect the hose coming from the engine block to the pump, and rig up some means to run the engine and you should feel a vacuum from it. It actually gives a 'push & pull" hence the term "pulse" but you should feel the slight vacuum. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
