They do collect water that would normally pass through the average small engine filters. With a good gasket they don't leak but all of the old ones do because the gasket and the little O ring seal on the valve are always dry rotted. I like them on the old stuff but always couple it with a paper filter too. Stens makes one that is the same exact size and the fittings are the same. Direct bolt on.
