I used the 1982 Lincoln gray, non metallic because that was the correct color for the 1984 Work Horse GT-1800. I purchased it through a body shop. I’m not sure what Rustoleum color would be close? Smoke gray is too dark though.

when you say they used "2 different grays" are you referring to 2 different grays during the '84 model production of the gt 1800 --- or are you referencing the difference of the two grays between the model 1848 from '82-83 versus the '84 of the 1800? thanks

The color changed between years. Just wanted you to know that in case you did not. One is metallic and one is not.

If you click on the fuzzy part of the link you can read about it.

If using Rustoleum. I think their Pewter gray will be closer to the right color.

i have not moved forward with getting a 1800 yet -- i am busy with a grandson's project we are doing right now on a 314-8 clean up -- plus re-assembling my original 312 - - i am always on lookout for a 1800 -- but don't have one yet to "paint" so no urgency to identify the "gray paint" - i suppose i just just rely on C Series Don - - since he has the most beautiful 1800 restoration i have ever seen  - the other info provided in the thread was also helpful for me to proceed with any future 1800 - thanks for checking up with me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Brockport Bill

Remember the GT1800 Trina and I built for some friends a couple years ago...?

Part of the original deal on that was, when they were ready to sell the tractor -  WE would get first refusal.

They're now "empty nesters" with both kids gone off to school.

They put their house on the market a couple weeks ago "just to see what would happen".

Didn't expect to sell it.... But they got two offers already.

We might have that tractor back soon!

Unless the buyer says “Hey, what’ll it take for you to leave the tractor?"

For the right price that's fine....

But they won't do that without the BBT's say-so.

For those who are getting paint mixed for the1983 and 1984 Workhorse's here is the paint that was used, 1982 Ford Light Pewter Paint Code 18. Auto paint suppliers and some parts stores will make spray cans if that's your paint choice.
