Bad parking brake switch

Recommended Posts

The switch on my Work Horse is getting "glitchy"  Some times it works, sometimes not. It's below the pedal lock linkage, correct?

I don't see how it works, as I see nothing contacting it. Also, how does it come out? I can't see anyway to get at it without disassembling all the linkage.

year/model would be very helpful since there are many configurations of 'where and how' regarding safety switches.

Model number on the machine is unreadable.

Manual says A1-18BE01  GT-1800 Twin Automatic

That help??

Yup. Of course, it's unavailable!

After digging deeper into this,  it seems the plate on the linkage is not coming forward enough to actuate it every time!

I'll have to pull some tin off and see if I can adjust the linkage to activate the switch and still have the brake work.

So, it turned out, the holes in the brake linkage plates were all wallowed out so the ramped plate on the brake peddle shaft didn't contact the switch.(too much slop)

I dug through my "bucket 'o bolts" and up sized to the largest that would fit through the heavy spring.

Seems to work fine for now.

If I have to, I'll build up the plate.
