Retired Wrencher 5,768 #1 Posted March 3, 2023 I have a 12 hp engine that is not original to the tractor. From what I can see it has a Spec #of 460d on the worn label. Cannot find that here. Maybe this was a generator engine or water pump? Can post picks if needed. It also has a short dip stick on the front of the engine. Never seen that before. Thanks for any info. I think this may have been a dealer on the shelf engine. Because the original engine blew up form what the owner said.
pfrederi 18,639 #2 Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) Based on your partial spec number i would guess it is spec# 47460d as all K301 started with 47 That spec number comes back as a service engine. Service engines were frequently painted blue or a light gray... https://origin.kohlerenginesparts.com/oemparts/l/koh/618573ea855d461d145a0425/k301-47460-service-engine-parts Edited March 3, 2023 by pfrederi

WHX?? 51,720 #5 Posted March 3, 2023 The other day we just happen to be tearing into a 301 and I pointed out some plugs in the base pan that were not seen before on a mid sixties horse. @Achto scrapes a little paint to find gray. ID plate MIA.
Retired Wrencher 5,768 #6 Posted March 4, 2023 This has a PTO set up like a 1257 or any stater gen tractor. Do you check the oil the same way as a standard K301? funky dip stick. Tanks for all the info.
