The Donor

Well, so the story goes....

Brother in law didn't have a decent machine and a very big yard to keep up with , so along comes the Donor project. Found a '68 Charger in pretty rough shape but had a great K301 and one of the most solid hydro's I've seen in awhile. So, it went from this -

To today's delivery -

This one was a pretty long road, badly rusted and not a straight piece of tin anywhere . As is now, about a "20 Footer" since it's duty is straight to work and no show . Paint isn't perfect but she's going to make a solid worker and should last a very long time .

Took a lot of paint, fillers, welding and no idea how many hours . But, handing someone a 900LB Birthday present - priceless .

900 lbs. is that how much they weigh? this topic came up yesterday with a friend of mine, we would llike to take a 200 mile drive to get a complete 14 hp tractor, another rolling chassis, three decks and a plow, wondering if we could get it into the back of an s-ten, no way.

anyway, great charger, i hope to have mine looking like that soon.

sarge...wow...that looks nice  but in the first picture...I'd would get that cooler out of the sun and sit there and look at that tractor for awhile. Just knowing that someday it would look like what you did...what a nice afternoon that would be. :thumbs2:

The tires are just Deestone's but seem to work pretty decent overall . Weight is figured at dry shipping weight + deck + wheel weights + liquid tire weight (front only) . I'd love to get it on a scale but there aren't any close enough here . My twin 1277's with their Carlisles filled and weights are probably an additional 100lbs total , and they certainly feel like it . Talk about a "planted" feel when moving them around ...

:thumbs2: You are a good brother indeed!!

I would fall over if one of my brothers were to give me just the set of four tires. :ychain:

I am sure it gives a really special feeling knowing he'll be using this gift for the next 30-50 years!

Make sure he has a will and puts the Charger in it!

Have a good weekend folks
