B-80 Steering Column

I have a B-80 that has busted tooth on the steering column.  Does anyone know the part number or a place to locate a replacement?  Not do or die but it does skip when steering.

and that grease fitting could use a shot of grease, that would help the steering function a lot.

I have a C series steering setup… same as a B series.  The question is, can the steering wheel come off?

I wonder about greasing the teeth.  My 14-8 is used mostly for mowing.  That can get dusty at times on my property.  Seems like any grease on the steering gears would collect dust and turn into lapping compound.

 

How about some sort of dry lube, like Dri-Slide or some sort of graphite lube?

That always seems to be a challenge - but hey, he can take a Sawzall to the shaft and then press the stub out - the shaft has already gone "paws up" anyway.....

My mowing is limited, I keep mine greased lightly. Dry lube OK - probably. The way I see it, something is better than nothing....

I've seen more gear teeth damaged by worn out support blocks not being greased than damage caused by dirt.  There's a grease fitting there for a reason!
