Good question. 

I wouldn't mind that at all with the possible exception of a stubborn nut or bolt being stuck in a socket after removal.

I have been in a metal working trade my whole life and learned that magnetized things will attract fine steel particles just waiting to embed themselves in your hand.

There are handles so I can lift this entire tray of sockets out of my tool box and carry them to a job site if needed.
