Wheelhorse Export models

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

Does anyone know what models from 1958 (RJ58) up to 1970 were exported to the UK? Trying to work out what models might be hiding away in barns over here.

many thanks

Tough question to answer. There were models exported from the US before they started production in Belgium.

Belgium produced models got serial numbers of there own and were consecutive from year to year.

Toro 1990-on used specific model numbers for exported product and the reason they started using an "e" in the model name. i.e. 520-He

Guess they could not keep track of them either.

Here are 228 results on 10 pages from a Belgium search

I recall a 1961 model 701 showing up in Spain but don't know how it got there.

You're probably aware of the mid 1980's 512-D.  It's an 8.5 HP (I think) air-cooled Robin diesel with an 8-speed transaxle.  Equivalent to our domestic 300/400 series but never offered with a diesel in the US.  Also in the late 1980's there was the 220 series vertical shaft tractors that we never got here.  They were similar to our B-chassis 200-series and later 250-series but not the same.

All of these will have decals near the bottom of the hood stand that proclaim "Europa" on them so it's hard to say if they were only for the European market or also exported to Jupiter.

As for pre-1970 there was a model 706-1 that I believe was a European export model as well.  I don't know if it is special or unique in any way.  My guess is that UK received a smattering of models from standard US stock based on what the distributor requested.  WH wasn't one to often wander too far off their familiar pathways.

Thank you for the information! I’ve got a few early 60’s machines like RJ’s, suburban’s, 701,702 and 704 but never seen models like 703 or 1045 over here.

I spontaneously thought of another one today...the 518-H Europa.  Unlike the 518's we had here that had the weaker Eaton 7 transmission, the European model had the same Eaton 11 as the 520H.
