Muffler Heat Shield

Anyone know where you can get a muffler heat shield for a WH? I've seen maybe one or two around on ebay but not much. Wasn't sure if anyone on the forum or our friends made them kind of like the towing sleeve/hitch which is awesome by the way. Thanks in advance!

They tend to be pricey.  I've thought that a perforated stainless steel steam pan might be good inexpensive raw material to form around a piece of well casing or drainage pipe, but haven't tried it yet.

Agreed, they are very pricey the ones I've seen. Thanks for the reply..

I think that you would need to run the material thru rollers to get it round.

The Wheel Horse shields are carbon steel with a stainless layer to make it pretty.  If that outer layer is worn or scratched it can rust.  If you pay a premium price for a used one, be sure that it has no significant wear.

I have a heat shield off of something but I don't remember what. I'll post a pic in a minute! :occasion-xmas:

Not WH but here it is. Let me know if you think you can make use of it.

That is what I have on my 418-C. Bought a small piece of stainless steel perforated metal and just hand formed it to fit the couture of the muffler with about an inch between the two. Looks good and works well.
