Today I became a grandpa for the second time! My granddaughter is four and my grandson was born at 2:03 today. 10lbs 6oz ! Praise god everyone is doing great ❤️ We are going to meet him in the morning ❤️

Son Mark and I went crabbing to a new spot. Left at 5AM for Fort Smallwood State Park on the upper Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful park on the bay. Caught a half bushel and back home and in the steamer by noon.

Mine still runs. It is my primary mower & snow removal tractor.

Parked the C-160 and Mighty Mac in the neighbor's new (to him) trailer. Preparing for the Portland, IN tractor show. Holding off on loading the C-120 until I can get it cleaned up a bit. Nice 23' trailer with ramp/doors at each end!

The safety tread on the C141 was worn and peeling. Heat gun and scraper made short work of removing them. I had more on the shelf. Used four smaller pieces rather than cutting into a large one. Good result for a little effort. Started to quit for the day, but Edy was mopping the utility room and kitchen floors. So I was marooned to the shop for a little while longer. Tried putting a shine on the hoods of the 520H and the C141. I will work on the rest of the tins a little at a time. The mower decks will get spiffed up this winter.

The C41 has two rubber stops and springs under the seat/spring mounting plate. one spring was broken and one rubber stop was missing. After scrounging through the “extra parts” I found two heavier springs and two rubber stops. A few minutes later they were installed.

Grandkids are your reward for allowing your kids to live.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! Being a grandparent has got to be the best thing ever! I bought a 2 family house with my daughter and her husband so seeing the grand kids everyday from the time they were born and being a huge part of their life is a wonderful thing. No responsibilities as far as parenting goes, they act up, send'em home. My wife got to babysit everyday which she loved doing. If my daughter gave me any lip, I just threaten her "I'll just buy them dart guns and drum sets. Maybe even a clarinet to really punish you!" LOL Well, what seems like such a VERY short time they're all grown up.( I still see them as little kids sometimes ). My Granddaughter is now working on her masters degree (24) and the Grandson is going to start his 3rd of college soon (20). My threats have come back to haunt me as now I'm getting older. So if I give my daughter any lip, she threatens me that she just won't wipe my a$$ ! LOL Touche' to her as she has learned well. Enjoy the time with them kids Don, it goes by too quickly

Trying to organize my spare tires/wheels, moved some into the new shed this evening. Left all my crummy tires and wheels in my old tarp shed.

The center spindle on my 48"SD took a c#$p while mowing early this spring. I swapped it out with my spare 42SD and used it all summer. Yesterday I dumped my spindle bucket and found a good one. Cleaned , greased and back on the tractor. Picking up the tractor with the hoist really makes it easy to roll the decks under the tractor from the front.

Quick way to check your condenser is to disconnect the wire, if the problem goes away then get a new condenser. The engine can be run for a few minutes without it for testing without damaging the points.

Being towed by a Kohler powered

The difference between a 7HP Kohler & a 7 HP Tecumseh...... You torque the mounting fasteners on the Kohler. You use wingnuts on the Tecky - hand tight - makes it easier to replace later.

No 9n,2N,or 8N tractor ever came with any sort of fuel pump. Gravity feed is always enough if everything is clean. You fuel system starts at the gas tank. Is it clean or has it accumulated loose rust or dirt? On top of your glass bowl/shut off valve there is a standpipe with a fine screen covering it maybe an inch tall. I have had that plug up on various tractors. If I am feeling lazy or in a hurry, I might close off the fuel and remove the glass cup, gasket and screen. Remove the gas cap. Then aim my compressed air nozzle up the hole leading into the tank, blowing air as I open the valve. This reverse flushes the screen on the standpipe. It is a temporary fix cuz the debris is still floating around. Turn the valve off, clean the screen and glass bowl and reassemble. Remove the fuel line and blow it out. Remove the elbow fitting on the carburetor. It has a screen reaching into the carburetor. Blow it out. If there is no screen, replace the elbow. The carb is pretty simple, but unless you really want to rebuild it, you can probably get by just by blowing through the passages and cleaning the float bowl. Keep in mind that the float and needle and seat were designed to work with the low pressure of gravity feed. You may cause new issues with any pump. The real solution for the gas tank is take it out and clean it. I've just sloshed gas around in some then poured in a bucket along with the loose rust or dirt. I cleaned one with Simple Green. Lately I have read about using white vinegar to remove the rust. I will probably try that next time I have a problem. I hope this helps, Kent

I have an ancient Shumacher 2/10 amp and ancient roll around NAPA 450 amp that just keep on going. I think the NAPA branded one may be made by Shumacher as well. The knobs are off of an old gas grill Edit: I misspoke. The small one is a Schauer. I think it was my Dad’s, and he’s been gone since 1972. Tapering charge. Still works great despite much neglect.

We had a 604. Dad bought it brand new. This picture is around 1970. You can see it already got at least 1 replacement engine!

The Bonnie & Clyde Ford Sedan was traveling with a car show in the late 60's or early 70's. I saw it when it visited the Lansing Civic Center.

Even if I got it out, fitting a new bearing over the gear shaft would likely be problematic. It's already on a stand, degreased, and fluid drained. Might as will go ahead and take it apart and clean the filter and check the other bearings. Once I'm done, I'll swap it out with either my C-120 or 16 Auto - as both of them drip from the transaxle gasket. I've had both of them apart for repairs but did both of them on the tractor and didn't get the surfaces clean enough when reassembling. I have all the time in the world to do this one proper. Besides, you never know what you'll find when you take them apart!

My experience shows me that rebuilding a carb is no longer a trouble shooting exercise. It is a scheduled maintenance item.

Thanks Don. 😊 Meeha is doing well. She's been improving her ability to stand for several days .. a little wobbly at first. Trina says "drunken monkey". Yesterday she was able to lay back down for the first time. That's a big step in the right direction. Today we're experimenting with removing one of the meds, on vet recommendations of course.

Finished up this shed today. Still need to get a ramp setup for it but no rush on that. Yes it’s plastic and yes it was a kit (one million pieces!!) But it all fit together well and I already had the pressure treated base built and leveled, so that’s how the size was determined. It’s 10’9” x 7’xx” with a door plenty wide enough to get a tractor in if need be.

Glad I decided to open it up and have a look. The needle bearing on the opposite side was fubar as well. Filter screen is still intact but had good bit of debris trapped, along with some shavings on the magnet. Paid $50 for it with the hydraulic lift parts still attached, plus a rockshaft. The cylinder was the serviceable type, and I rebuilt it for my C-160 and put the control valve on my C-120. Cataloged the spring, cone, and rockshaft. Up in the air on whether or not to put any money into saving the tranny. The axles look perfect and it has a good motion cam worth saving.

IMHO.... Always do regular maintenance before troubleshooting. If you cycle the fuel pump off and on three or four without starting the engine, that should fill the fuel bowl for sure. Will it stay running then? Have you removed the inlet hose from the carburetor to verify that you are getting good fuel flow? What is the age of the fuel filter? When was the last time the carburetor was rebuilt? All fuel lines replaced?

The word on the street is that Clyde Barrow was so impressed withe the Ford sedan and its then new flathead V8 that he wrote a letter to Henry Ford personally praising it.... Bonnie & Clyde is probably my favorite gangster movie. The "shot up" Ford Sedan "death car" was on display somewhere in Florida in the early 80's. I can't remember exactly when or where, (I think it was near Disney World) but I saw it.

At least VW provided a fire wall. Model T (1908–1925), the fuel tank sat directly under the front seat inside the passenger compartment, meaning no firewall separated it from the occupants. For the final 1926–1927 model years, Ford moved the tank into the cowl dash directly ahead of the driver, but it remained unseparated by firewall.

That's an EXCELLENT price.

Another note about the 5xi tractors and the electric PTO.......if your battery/charging system is weak, the PTO is the first thing to not work correctly. For instance, I picked up my 522xi with a 2-stage snow blower on it. Everything worked fine until I actually tried to use it. Every time I would try and plow snow with it, the PTO would shut off and the auger would stop. Cycle it OFF/ON, work fine, pull forward into snow and it would shut off again. Turns out it was a weak battery. Simple fix, but was a head scratcher for awhile as everything seemed fine. Not saying its your same issue, but something to keep in mind if it helps

Got um on and mounted back on tractor today. Used 7” carriage bolts and some lock nuts. Started to cut bolts off but they dont stick out past tires so. Opie had to photo bomb again. Only downside so far is warden can track me easier.
