This is another project I’m working on when I’m not working on tractors. It’s a late 40’s to early 50’s David Bradley walk behind tractor. They are pretty interesting as they have a similar setup to the attach o matic. It’s set up so you can swap implements fairly quickly and easily. They usually are run by a roughly 3 horse engine usually a Briggs and Stratton or Tecumseh. There were a few different models and options available. I just have to find an engine, run the cables to turn it, and disengage the clutch. Also, find 6-16 tires for the 16 inch rims that aren’t ungodly expensive. It sat at the house I grew up in for most of my childhood. I do have photo’s of my father, my brothers, and I riding on it when we were 5 and under. I’d like to get it going if I could. It shouldn’t be too hard as the drive setup is much like our tractor.

Guys from NJ that were at the BS came to it! It was a good show aside from the rain. Daytime was really sunny, hot & humid. Ate good that's fer sure! My main man Jacob @jeremi3210's boy up to his usual antics. A old bhind cultivator with a tecky snow blower repo. He even took his contraption in the parade and a couple of blocks down to A&W.

I have the Carbole 42S pumps on all my tractors. The only issue I had was my fault. I tightened the inlet filter too tight and broke the bond between the plastic body and the metal threaded fitting. Do not let them run dry. I always power mine from the ignition or coil tab on the ignition switch.

We got enough done on it in order to take it for a test drive. We've been pecking away at it any time we could. My nephew Paul has been helping me with this one and apparently a little underwhelmed when it took off. The right rear tire is skidding when braking so we'll need to take a look in there and make some adjustments before full throttle in 3rd gear. And that Teccy engine has got to go.

I am just following up on my 1257. I took it to the big show which was a very good time hopefully to go again next year. I picked up the sickle bar from the gentleman, cleaned it up wiped it down with my favorite juice and with new belts I put it on. I also took off the gt14 elbow and got a new air filter and is back in the original location, along with painting up the coil and bracket. Now I’m currently working on the brake band lining, I waited 48 hrs to let the adhesive cure and made sure it was clean as a whistle. Waiting on the brake shaft seal hopefully comes in tomorrow and I get to start putting it back together this week. I know I already posted these pictures elsewhere on here but thought I’d keep this up to date about the tractor.

I tidied some of my rubber edges up, and @Lil’ Pullstart helped me snap some lines for the e-track.

Gotta remove that to get to the fuel filter. Don't know the weight. somewhere around unpleasant.. Bad design. Could loop fuel line in the way outside the compartment but.. no

Im sitting in my tree for a bit, waiting on a whistle pig. They are multiplying faster than I can control. Though I love to see wildlife flourish, I need to keep some things in check. I love to see the growth in the field since 2019! I know most of the trees growing have no timber value, but they do have wildlife benefits.

I use Mr. Gasket 42s pumps on my tractors. I've heard, and they look, like identical pumps but considering that the Mr. Gasket pump is about twice the cost I was curious so I did a few minutes of research before I wrote this. They are NOT the same. So......my glowing report on the Mr. Gasket can be ignored. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to try a Carbole because of their price point. They do go 'whirrrrr' when running and not 'thumpy, thumpy' like the cheapies. I tried those and had an over 50% failure rate. I try to find a spot near the tank to mount them as it's easier to push the fuel than to suck it.

the other benefit of taking the decks to a pro sandblaster is if the deck ( or other tractor item ) is pitted -- its more challenging for me to get rust out --- even with scaler tool, or wire brush etc to get rust out from those pitted spots - - the propfessional sand blasting certainly makes them 100 % cleaned

Almost forgot the Friday parade that ends up at A&W where we can all get some treats if we wish. Lets not forget Mother Natures gift. Around 4" of rain between Wed. and Thurs. night.

Decided to take a few pics of my 1257, touched up a few spots and tried to clean it a little. Also added a few things since last time I posted pics of her. Ordered a few decals from "redoyourhorse." Looking forward to those. Got more to do to her.

Good day all!! So, I went for a ride after church to a 312, way to rusted 42” RD and a long shute snowblower. The add said it ran, $275. Well, I got there…. And it ran fantastic. The old owner had changed the oil and put in a fuel filter, bonus!! It had a flat rear tire, starter switch (battery and solenoid!), an un torn seat and steel wheel weights! The snowblower was about a B-/ C+ in letter grade. The deck, so sad, it was unusable from the start!! So we struck a deal and i headed for home. The tire got changed right after i got it off the trailer and the starter switch got deleted shortly there after!! New spark plug, air filter, shift boot, rear end fluid and hot paint on the exhaust. I gotta do a new drive belt, because that belt has seen its day!! So, how I do for $170!!

I concentrated on taking pic's of tractors that are not seen very often. Reo tractor These 2 Speedex were built in the same year. Bush Hog Work Bird one of the first zero turns. Shaw lawn mower. Mighty Might Gavely Westchester with a body by Studebaker. Estate tractor Wagner Little Giant John Deere Sweepster. JD's attempt to enter the gulf cart industry. Brillion Explorer Unsure ? Rugg Huffy Hawk Mayrath's with & with out a body.

The consensus seems to be 3 to 5 years, even in the bottle. And it's "too cheap."

The S/G is nice, and quiet. But parts for gear starters and flywheel alternators are a little more available, and if I can't get this K241 in the 1076 running right I might want to look at a Magnum re-power.

I have had the cheap and the expensive. I have had both fail. I have installed more of the $15 ones (4) and they been running fine. I believe price is not always a factor of quality. I like lean toward the square one....not sure why.

1969 I think had the front open under the headlights. 1970 and later looked like that.

I use box traps to control the pigs. When my Amish neighbor bought the farm and started raising sweet corn and cantaloupes , I reduced the population by about 20 every year for three years as they were feasting on his new tender plants. His 6yo son watched me for a couple years and he now does the trapping.

I'm guessing they never go bad - which may explain why he's not been able to sell it. I suppose I could get it engraved and repurpose it for my headstone.

So you have a neighborhood "Karen" Few years ago we moved into town off of 14acres. It was a big change but due to my girlfriends health issues shes unable to drive so we needed to be where transportation is available for her Dr appts. Fortunately, we have great neighbors. My driveway is really close to house on right side. Shes retired clerk of court for our town & really nice lady. Shes not outside much but has a 5yr old Pug that just doesn't shut up! I dont ever say anything or complain because shes never complained about me making noise in garage or driveway. She told me I dont need her permission to drive up thru her back yard to easily access my trailer. Shes 82yrs old & I know she wont be my neighbor forever......I try to be respectful of time of day etc. Nice to have thas sorta "understanding"

For the mower deck it's just a rod, some guys use a chain, that goes from the deck to the rock shaft. That's in a deck manual. Looks like all you need for the rear is a cable and slot hitch.

Thanks again for all the help! Went out again this evening and the lift cable conduit is there. Does the lift cable go through and connect to the lift/lower mechanism that the mower deck also? I have nothing else there that I can see that you could use to operate it.

Sometimes the best value is letting someone else do the job.

I get it. Our neighborhood is a little closed in for my tastes, but it's what we could afford. We usually get along with these neighbors pretty well, but when left to her own devices this woman is the kind of busy-body that got us things like the temperance movement.

Your transaxle should have a lift cable conduit like this one bolted to the top of it. just need to get the cable from Wheel Horse Parts and More and attach it to the rockshaft where it says rear lift cable.

I do a few rehab projects with grandsons each year...mostly decks, seat pans, few footrests, an occasional plow blade, etc.....some need more rust cleaning than others..if not very severe rust or pitting, then grinder, wire wheel, scaler etc often get job done. However, I did do some consideration couple years ago to buy blaster....Instead, I use a nearby fairly priced professional sand blaster who has done various projects for me... Every one of us has different considerations, but for me I'd rather have him deal with all the downside issues of doing the blasting than me. .... I'm happy dropping project with him and picking it up few days later. No $ cost for me to buy and maintain equipment, buy media, no mess, no labor, no sweating, no clean up, no health considerations, etc....and great perfectly finished beautiful bare metal piece

The BBT aka Trina and I have been helping @Natejc_98 with his 1973 8 HP 4 speed. Nate's been diving right in with great effort. Really good guy. Here's a few before n after pics of the carb & air cleaner. All cleaned up with a new Briggs fuel bowl installed. We also did a partial disassembly and general cleanup. Changed the drive belt and idler pulley out for better used ones. Swapped the 10" rear wheels for more standard larger wheels & tires. Swapped the destroyed front tires for nicer turfs. Did some investigating on a no electricity to the solenoid issue. Turns out both safety switches were bad. Fixed that and found an intermittent ignition switch connection. Installed new switch from @76c12091520h Brian Badman. Replaced all fuel line and added a turn off and fuel filter. Engine oil change done. Transmission oil change on the list. Trina and I have amassed a fair amount of extra parts over the years. It's great to see them being used. I need to finish the wiring and see about getting the transmission drain plug out.

This morning I did disassembly and cleaned up everything for the new brake lining from @rmaynard and I took my old seal out to realize it’s wrong so I ordered the correct one (hopefully). I should’ve looked at the manual I have for part number from the beginning 🤦🏻‍♂️. So it’ll be a while. I just want a good brake and not roll to a stop. I did what the instructions said to do tho for the brake band lining, I waited 48 hrs to take the clamps off then I cleaned the excess adhesive off that was squeezed around the sides.

Cantaloupe has a strong scent and works well for pigs.

I trimmed the back edge of the floor rubber and trimmed and fastened the ramp rubber. The door closes and opens well!

If the engine handles the task at hand and is not consuming a lot of oil I would consider it a keeper. If you do intend to rebuild the engine here is a thread that will be worth reading. Though this is a small block Kohler build thread the steps taken are the same as your Magnum 14.

A C-160 should have came with a manual lift bar and mid mount rockshaft for a lift cable.

I have the main floor piece rough cut. I need to trim the front corners to a respectable lip. Then find some adhesive laying around and slap it down.

This evening we finished cleaning the cable ends. I built a new positive cable from solenoid to starter. Degreased the starter and engine block where the cables attach. Installed a NOS Cole Hersee solenoid from my parts department. Added a new battery hold down. Used a primer bulb to dump a little gasoline into the carburetor bowl through the upper vent. At that point the ole beast started right up.... and the alternator started smoking. No worries there. I knew that was a high probability. I have a new HD alternator set aside with a new wiring harness. The truck is setting in the front yard waiting to be towed to the repair shop tomorrow.
