10 pointsMay 29, 2003, 35 U.S. states declare it to be Bob Hope Day when the iconic comedic actor and entertainer turned 100 years old, The intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Avenue–famous for its historic buildings and as a central point on the Hollywood Walk of Fame–Bob Hope Square. Several 1940s-era U.S. planes flew overhead as part of an air show honoring Hope’s longtime role as an entertainer of U.S. armed forces all over the world. Hope was too ill to attend the public ceremonies. Three of his children attended the naming ceremony, along with some of his younger show-business colleagues, including Mickey Rooney.

7 pointsPut my Wheel Horse canopy on my 314-8 mowing tractor today. I bought this canopy several years ago from Heritage Farm Power. They are the full size and garden tractor size umbrella or canopy people. I was surprised to see they are going out of business soon so i bought a new replacement canvas canopy with the Wheel Horse logo to have a nice spare. I recommend these as they do keep you cooler in the hot summer sun when mowing a big yard or field. They are well made not cheap and do a great job. https://tractorumbrellas.com

5 pointsPossibly picking up a C160 tomorrow from supposedly the original owner. Says it runs and mows beautifully, no smoke from motor. Would love some input from all you gurus on here since I’m just starting to get my feet wet. Definitely a replacement fuel tank with questionable mounting that even I can see. A later replacement deck, obvious replacement seat, maybe a later rear end also? Any input is certainly appreciated!

5 pointsI have too many low hanging branches in my yard to mow with the umbrella, but is nice to have portable shade at the shows.

5 pointsA $50 leaf blower zip tied to the front bumper of these $300,000 paint rigs could blow off the trash and road kills. Maybe add a remote switch for the driver.

4 pointsI hope you do more painting prep than our State Guvment. PENN DOT repainted the lines on my road today. They skipped over a few spots. Stones washed out on the road A bag of trash And a squirrel

4 pointsGot the dock in the lake today. Morgan, the 14-8, got tapped to do the cart work needed to haul the dock sections to the lake from their winter storage area. The job went scary smoothly. No tractor issues, didn't drop a wrench in the lake, didn't get hurt. Good thing I bought a Powerball ticket this morning - maybe I'll get lucky.
-
4 pointsI agree that you'll probably love it. I just picked up a 1 owner (I believe) c-161 but had to drive to northern VA to get it. Well engineered machines
-
4 pointsAnother C160 in NC? Well done. I hope you can get it! Do NOT let @ebinmaine drive down and beat you to it. He has plenty of C160s!

3 pointsFirst question is - Why is it leaking ? I recently took a hydro tranny apart to find that a bad bearing was the cause of the seal failing. If it is just a bad seal, then "yes" this can be changed without removing the tranny. If you have bad bearings, then you will need to remove the tranny & split the case to repair the issue. A good source for complete bearing & seal kits to separate tranny parts. https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/product-category/manual-transmissions/ More options - Check your manual or down load a free manual from the forum. This will give you the part numbers for your tractor, then you can use the info below to order parts locally.

3 pointsEd, that would have to go out for bid and you know the DOT specifications would drive the price up to several thousand dollars . Next the public employees' union would protest having additional duties put on the employee. To say nothing of the danger posed by those rechargeable batteries. without suitable training the blower could pose a significant hearing and eye hazard.

3 pointsPut the rear weights back on the 312-8. Neighbor wants to aerate everyone's yards tomorrow so I told him I'd provide the tractor and fuel

3 pointsSeveral of us have done this swap. And Vanguard 12.5 to 23 hp horizontal shaft engines are all very similar. Electrical- since your WorkHorse had magneto ignition the wiring is easy. Vanguards are magneto ignition so no changes there. Mechanical- check the PTO shaft on your engine. It should be 1 inch diameter and about 3 inches long. Again, exactly the same as a Vanguard. Also the PTO brackets bolt right up on a Vanguard. Engine mounting- This is primarily the part you'll need to do some work. I had to fabricate a mount plate to raise the engine about 1 inch higher and the bolt pattern is not the same. In short you will need to fab up an adapter but it is a simple job. The complexity is really up to you and what you can make up. Flip through the threads below and there are pics of some of mine. Hopefully others will chime in as well. 523-H build Another Fronkenstein

3 pointsFuel tank and the mounting setup is all original. The 48” deck may or may not be the same vintage. Same with the rear transaxle…not sure why you are thinking it’s not original. Unless the seller has told you that?

3 pointsStocked the trout for the annual fishing derby for the ATOMIC KIDS. This is a private event sponsored by the Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant for employees children. We put 1,000 12 to 20 inch trout in a 1/4 mile section of the North branch of Muddy Creek in Felton. VID_20260529_103818809~3.mp4 Fish catching pics tomorrow.

3 pointsAbsolutely, no tractor is left outside. The pictures actually show my barn and shed, of course it takes moving 3-4 tractors just to get the one I want out at the moment, lol. Good exercise. I have a few torn down on a couple work benches waiting for me to clean them up and reassemble. Retirement is around the corner that my hobby will become my full time job. Currently at 67 tractors including walk behinds. Working on building a elevator to be able to keep some smaller tractors in top level of barn.
-
3 pointsI remember your build postings and the effort you went through to make it as close to original as you could. Well done.
-
3 pointsI agree,I have a 1979 c101 that I bought new, has mowed most of its life and plowed snow all its life, and I may have changed it 2 maybe three times, stored inside. Have had no trany problems with the 8 speed in this tractor.

2 pointsWho all gets their Horses out in a Parade? I recruit local teenagers and neighbors to drive some and they have so much fun. (It’s also good for when I am out making so much noise working on them that neighbors are more forgiving, lol) plus it gets them out for a good exercising.

2 points@Tonytoro416 I think I speak for everyone when I say that we would all enjoy more pictures of your beautiful 953. I keep going back to look at the ones you posted and thinking “Damn, that thing is nice 👍🏻”

2 pointsThanks a million for all the helpful input! The plan if it checks out in person is to bring her home and use it as is for a while. I will be on the hunt for a head light assembly and checking out it out mechanically. Then long term goal is to slowly restore it with my boys. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for a correct seat but as comfy as the one on it looks I’ll wager it stays on there for a long while. Will be a good project for them as they are both into things like this and use it to teach them how to take care of things. I much prefer older well made things than all the new garbage that’s made today, not just tractors but pretty much everything. They are both super excited about it and can’t wait.

2 pointsThe rectifier housing must be grounded. Over time, oxidation builds up on the two mounting fasteners. Try jumping the housing to ground (not the fasteners) and retest. If it works, unmount it & clean the mounting area. Some of us add a ground wire between the rectifier housing and the screw head.... A freshly painted surface can cause issues too if the rectifier is attached to it...

2 pointsmost of that painting equipment is now computerized -- the worker just drives the truck -- paint computer obviously not a wildlfe lover

2 pointsI can offer some info: - the switch has both normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contacts (they are usually labeled with tiny embossing on the switch body). From that, you can see which two are being used by the connector. - I cannot say, without checking the wiring diagram for your model, which contacts your tractor uses. Variation comes from magneto vs. coil ignition and whether or not there is a “safety” relay as part of the ignition system. - the switches do fail over time, mainly from contamination with dust and/or moisture All of that notwithstanding, the seat switch does not normally prevent starting by itself. Rather, it works in sequence with one of the PTO lever position detector switches. Only if the operator is not seated and the PTO is engaged will the system stop (or prevent starting) the engine.

2 pointsYour sub-frame for the loader probably is the best place to mount the pump. Mine is not an ARK and it is a bit tight for good photo shots but here are a couple.

2 pointsI will try to remember a resubmit when the time comes. I’m flattered it has been received so well. Takes a lot of time and care fixing one that was missing so much

2 pointspaint a line across the hub and axle on each side then after you try to move make sure they haven't shifted. D series have very hefty axle key but they can shear. Does the engine labor at all when yo try to move???
-
2 pointsDoes the mid mount or 3 pt lift function? Does teh motion control seem to move OK (Linkages on Ds are a night mare. Also make sure tow valve is tightly closed.

2 pointsI've had some dates in the past that you could calculate future events (or end of events) too... But I never dated a Cardinal!!
-
2 pointsWe are talking about a manual transmission that never gets hot enough to need additives. In my opinion a tractor that is kept in a garage or shed and has a good rubber boot on the shift lever isn't likely to need an oil change for the transmission. I have put my hand on the transaxle after two hours of mowing and the case it not even warm. If it has had a tough life with being stored outdoor and the rubber boot is deteriorated then the oil should be changed and the boot replaced.
-
1 pointWhats the plan? Looks like great bones. There are seats around and with the Big Show coming up the is bound to be one there if you know someone that might go?
-
1 pointGood to know the fuel tank is original, wouldn’t have guessed it. Yes, he did tell me he replaced the mower deck sometime in the mid 90’s. He did not mention anything about the rear transaxle. Sure do appreciate the input!

1 pointFound another Dealer tag I didn’t realize I had on my 400. The Military Affairs on my 34R. No decal on the tractor but the receipt with Dealer for my 1045. And WH club not technically, but I did have to pay for the raffle tickets when this RJ58 was offered.🙂
