    Zach is in the process of restoring/restoring a Cub Cadet 682 for a missionary friend of ours that we met in Ohio. He is tired of “throw away” lawn tractors and when he saw Blackbeard, he asked Zach if he had anything similar that he would be willing to sell. Zach picked up an estate sale 682 a couple of years ago with the intention of a refurbish and resale. This was the perfect “nudge” that he needed to move forward with the project! Zach wants to become part of the RS family but he is trying to decide on an alias. I suggested combining his first and middle names to “Zaxel” but he is undecided. Because of Blackbeard I also suggested “Edward Teach”. He liked that—historical pirate 🏴‍☠️ etc. However, as you all can see by this thread, he has been into tractors since he was a little kid. Zach taking ownership of Blackbeard on his 3rd birthday 2016 Cutting lawn on Blackbeard a couple of months before his 13th birthday! It’s hard to believe how fast the time has flown😱

    Not “to” my WH but “for” it. In the fall, I made a small cart to hold my 36” RD Gear mower deck for easier storage and movement during its off season. An unanticipated benefit was easy access for sharpening and cleaning and for re-greasing one of the gearboxes. Now that I’ve got the mower back on the tractor, I decided to upgrade the cart so that it’ll hold the blade. Here it is with the mower and now with the blade.

    for all the well wishes and being folks I can count on for support and a few laughs. Just finished off some great pulled pork, onion rings, and peach cobbler with my wife, neighbors and other good friends.

    I picked up a well worn 867 several months ago. Took it apart to determine what I had to work with and started a list of parts I’d need to bring it back to life. I Found the matches under the fender pan.

    Same here. Redsquare is as close as I will get. I've also noticed a drop in new posts and such, but thought it was just me. I think occasional ebbs and flows are inevitable. Not necessarily cause for alarm. I've seen many changes here over the years. There were 30 members when I joined. I've also stepped completely away when life required it as well. I think highs and lows are natural occurrences. That being said, I'm open for whatever changes the admin and mods come up with. I may not always agree with them (like 99%), but they've kept this train on the rails for a very long time.

    This tractor needed a lot of repair or replacement parts so I met up with a buddy who supplied me with most all the parts needed to put a nice tractor together.

    For me personally the reason I haven't been posting as much lately on here, is because I haven't had the time to work much on the tractors. I have used them for a lot of outdoor stuff, and that's part of the reason I haven't had time to work on them. Also have been doing work on our vehicles as well. I'm guessing a lot of people are also busy with spring stuff, so unless they are taking photos of their tractors in use and posting them there will probably be less posts. I agree, for a lot of people I think they also only use this forum when they have a question or are working on their tractors. And I can relate to that, I don't post enough on other peoples threads, it does take a bit of commitment to do that.

    Back moving under its own power sooner than I anticipated. Need to have the AGS mounted next and swap the tri-ribs from the C120 over and remount the dozer blade.

    Can you get the brass center jet out? I did that on one and found a spider nest in it. Had to clean it manually. Solvent wouldn't dissolve spider silk.

    Definitely. Does the lower shaft penetrate the carb body or is it in a “pocket”? Penetration: can leak air. Pocket: cannot leak air. 😉 I do believe most are pockets for two reasons: 1) so that the base of the shaft is supported, which keeps the plate centered in the throat, and 2) no leaking air!

    That would be my . A down and dirty test would be to cover the bottom with grease to see if air in-leakage at the bottom is causing the problem.

    Anything your pockets are deep enough to finance CAN be done, and we are here to help you spend your money! If you have or can find a K301 that has all The S/G parts and pieces already in place that would be your best bet. If you go the full S/G route you may need to do a bit of rewiring but we can help you get it done.

    Yes. If you want the complete Start /Gen look you will have to either remove the ring gear from the flywheel or get the correct flywheel to use the non hump shroud. Same thing with the small blocks. This 875 has an engine from a B 80

    Finally got to split the trans for the 10-8 today. Sure did have some water in it. Got it cleaned up, replaced all the seals and reassembled. Got it back installed but now needs some new woodruff keys for the axles and drive pulley. In theory it’ll be back up and moving under its own power Monday.

    So far on both of the K181 #22s I’ve rebuilt. Pesky little critters and NOT included in the rebuild kits.

    Having wheels, and rigging it to use a hitch attachment, is a big plus if you need to take it on and off. Unless you're like @ebinmaine and have a fleet of tractors where you have it on a dedicated machine.

    I REALLY like mine! I like what others have shown of attaching wheels to it. When I got mine, it had a dolly that consisted of a square piece of plywood with casters on it, and "cribbing" made of landscape timbers that would put the Mighty-Mac at the same height as the frame of the tractor. Works great if you have a smooth floor, but useless if you're trying to mount it to the tractor outside of the garage, shed, or shop.

    I agree that it had no place in gasoline, it is there to force people to buy it and in turn to buy the farm votes. I had issues years ago before ethanol resistant fuel system materials were available. My thought is that many of the problems are brought on by the users allowing the fuel to be exposed to the atmosphere. I was going to move to all ethanol free, but that isn’t going to happen at current inflated prices. If folks think that they can buy 9 gallons of gasoline and a gallon of ethanol and then pour in a small amount of snake oil they can make that gallon of corn squeezins go away have at it.

    Totally agree on good lighting (that’s why I noticed it 😉) however I’m very sensitive to the risk of too much light, especially for oncoming and near-ahead drivers. Since your coach’s wiring already accommodates separate high and low beam circuits I hope your plan is to add diodes of adequate capacity that will let you power both high and low from the “high side” but only the lows from the “low side." I’ve also become a solid fan of my car’s auto-dimming system which uses a video camera and software instead of a simple sensor to detect situations where dimming is appropriate. It can remarkably reliably detect (and quickly react to) oncoming headlights, taillights of a vehicle ahead within radar range (~350 meters), overhead street lights, blinding fog, or daylight.

    Looks great! Enjoy 😊 Onto our three RD decks we’ve bolted a piece of 4-inch grey vinyl cove base as a flap hanging off the discharge edge using holes already there on the deck. Keeps the clippings from flying all over. (You may need to “notch” it where it might rub the rear wheels and catch when reversing.

    OK, the JD wiring diagram is for an engine with a Starter / Generator and mechanical voltage regulator while the Wheel Horse diagram is for an engine with a gear drive starter and a stator behind the flywheel using a solid state voltage regulator. Very little of the wiring is interchangeable. Since your 1974 B has had a heart transplant utilizing the S / G type engine I would strongly suggest you use the diagram Jim @WHX?? gave you in post # 5, It is clearly labeled and uses the 103990 ignition switch. We have no idea what switch JD used and there is no diagram of the switch to show the connections. If you have the clutch and PTO safety switches in place they can be connected in series as indicated below.

    I've rebuilt 15 or 20 carbs over the years. I've only had a couple that I have been forced to get into that galley. Can get pretty gunky in there. But it's definitely not normal and it's very easily cleaned, most of the time. I would definitely try the extra cleaning first. I have a couple of well worn number 30 carburetors here that still run and drive okay even though they are pretty Loosey Goosey.

    A#1 note here. I'm not a scientist. That said, to the best of my knowledge, no off the shelf chemical does anything to cancel the negative effects of ethanol on rubber. You've done exceedingly well. I've had first hand personal experience with at least a dozen machines that were affected by ethanol over the years. Dried up carb components. Fuel lines aged prematurely. Carbs and pumps leaking. We've seen ethanol destroy (someone else's supplied) cheap rubber fuel line in just one mowing season. Disgusting stuff and it has no place in an engine. Period.

    Got the cushions in the mail today, got new screws and mounted them to the pan then to the tractor. I think the logo pops. Matt did an excellent job. I’d take better pictures but it’s raining and I don’t want it wet already. edit: Later on I adjusted the back rest cushion as it was a tad off, my fault during install.
