I figured there is no need to plague Eloise with the dark cloud of the Reno Turd.   Time for a new thread! This is our new to us diesel pusher. I’m putting a video together, and will update the thread as we go along. It’s been in the extended family since new, and always well kept. It needs some loving, but is way more capable as a usable camper than the last pusher we brought home! The trip to Colorado was quick, but great. More details to come.

Unexpectedly won this horse at auction a couple weeks age just got her home. It was in the non running section but I saw the hydro lift and figured parts for that alone would be worth something but figured someone else would see that also. They didn't and I won. $60. Hydro gear plus lift I figured it was hacked up Charger Electro. Turn out it is a short frame1965-77 Wheelamatic. But I don't believe hydro lift was even an option for those. Then there is the deck. I have never seen one like this before. It is I believe a complete and in good shape RM425 a 42 inch deck for short frames. The mechanism looks rube goldberg but based on a picture I saw seems to be complete. When I thought it was a long frame, I had a K301 I would put in it and if the hydro worked sell it. But she really needs a small base big block S/G which I don't have.

Got some fence lines mowed before the rain starts. Checked out tomorrows auction. An interesting boat. And a Commando 800

We can all do our part to make a first time poster want to come back. Using the "welcome" emoji is as easy as it comes, but it is just a start. Asking a question about how they came to own their Wheel Horse invites them back. Giving an open invitation to ask further questions will help too. Many times a first time poster is responding to an already existing post and can get lost in the shuffle, asking them to do an "Introduction" and providing a link https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/47-introductions/ to that topic could make them want to participate more. When a newbie comes along asking for information rather than just directing them to the manuals section if we can take a moment to provide them with a link like @gwest_ca does it will it will be very impressive to the new poster. We don't all have the time to do these things every time but doing them when you can will be helpful.

Naw, the toy hauler dream died with our 5th wheel. We have decided that we can sell that, get an enclosed trailer I can load and pull with the RV or a truck, and have a good RV to just camp as well, when we want to just camp.

Had some great quality SEAT TIME this evening. One of several reasons we're clearing the forest from beside the house 🏠 is to get the tractors over there to harvest firewood. I figured I'd start the experimentation with pathways today. It... Is... ROUGH !!... over there. Wow. Rocks 🪨. Sticks. Holes 🕳. Pits. Highs. Lows. Tree stumps galore. I started out by dropping the Boss splitter off the back off my 1974 C160-8 Cinnamon Horse and backing the splitter in the barn. Then had to move this 5 x 8 utility trailer full of cull/junk vinyl boards outta the path. This is the leftovers of a large pile we bought years ago to redo the trim on the house. Project done. These will go to the Transfer Station when I get time. I took a trailerless solo cruise over to scope out the area. Keep in mind this was a thick stand of hemlock and beech just weeks ago! Next I hitched up to the black dump trailer to fetch out some 14" hemlock I'd cut for the outdoor fire pit and/or indoor kindling. Brought that up out to the splitting pile. Then went and got the pole trailer I rebuilt last year. Put that to great use today! Note here how the angle of the trailer is in comparison to the tractor. 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬 This is a pile of hemlock 5" - 8" diameter by 6 - 10 ft length that Trina wanted saved for garden border logs. The trailer is approximately 6 feet between the poles. In this picture my destination is directly over the top of the trailer way out in the clearing. Ain't no short path there yet. I had to go up a wicked hill out to the front of the house, across the front of the barn, down around beside the barn... and follow the path around to the garden. Probably a 400 or 500 foot drive to get here. Give or take.... Got everything unloaded and put away and the machines are settin a spell resting up. Great workout! Lots accomplished in a short time.

April 28, 1969 Chicago released its first recording, the double album Chicago Transit Authority. The album was an immediate hit, later selected for the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress due to its cultural and historical significance.

Between the weather, family time, and more time at work I haven’t had time to do much with the tractors. Now that it’s getting nice I find myself working on them more. I have noticed an influx of new people coming in and asking questions so that’s a good thing. I have been wanting to do maintenance and fix some annoying things on the tractors so I’ll probably document it when I get to it. Friends don’t let Friends wear Speedo’s…..😬

Just one guy’s perspective, but I lurked for about a year accumulating knowledge before joining up. I spent a lot of time searching the site and trying to get a feel for who was who while gradually soaking up knowledge. It took me months to realize that ALL of the repartee was well-meaning and friendly teasing grounded in respect and civility--and that much was based on inside humor borne of long-established relationships. I came in with reasonable skepticism after experiencing other forums’ tooth-and-claw exchanges. Folks here simply didn’t bother wasting time grinding axes or putting other folks down to stroke their own egos. It required a re-calibration--a mental shift. All that said, I’ll second @953 nut’s invitation to us all to be as cordial as we can to new visitors/posters.

I was just about to say, I can't wait to see how many horses fit inside, on top, strapped to the sides, welded to the front, etc.

This is way better then FB though. Build threads are retained, information is searchable, and the people in the forum are all great people. There still seems to be some bad apples on quite a few of those groups on FB. That said I will post occasionally on FB. But I am not going anywhere on here, this is the BEST forum on the internet.

Took a little 6hr drive after work yesterday in order to make an addition to the family. I would like to introduce our new girl Sooki.

Nothing scientific was used to make that determination. Was just my opinion on the amount of daily posts. I have no idea about the up/down trend of paid memberships. I do see a lot of groups on FB pertaining to WH. Some are moderated well and others just let ya say whatever’s on your mind…cuss words and all.

Dang it @Bill D that’s it the low hour 418-A that I have been waiting for. How am I going to explain this to my wife? She just doesn’t understand the significance of me completing my collection of the 418’s. Seriously, how can a guy have a 418-C and a 418-8 and not have a 418-A? Even though I’ve promised her many times that I would not buy anymore Wheel Horses, I now find myself in a pickle. I’m going to loose sleep over this 😂

If the engine is not running and the light is on that is a bulb check. Should go out when the oil pressure builds. Engine owner manual and service manual https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=ch14s-1838&quick=1&type=downloads_file Should be the illustrated parts list if your spec number is 1838 https://www.partstree.com/models/ch14-1838-kohler-command-pro-single-engine-made-for-toro-14hp Tractor operator manual

That looks like a 1/2" wide belt. Should be an 82" x 5/8". Also, the belt on the PTO should be on the larger pulley closer to the engine.

Put an idler pulley on my 953 sickle to tighten the belt. It's a tensioner off a parts GT-14. Works great Tried it out in a field no issues

Trina's mom has a red canoe similar to the above. Kevlar canoes remind me of a funny occasion. Many moons ago in a land far far away... I have cousins from around Athol & Orange MA that have been into canoeing for decades, some for 70 plus years. Back in the early 1960s they were among the first racers of the now decades old annual River Rat Canoe Race from downtown Athol to downtown Orange. They were known as The Rat Pack Paddlers. For obvious reasons they had several pure bred racing canoes from back in the day... There was a kevlar one that was 17 feet long and 17 inches at the widest point. It absolutely sliced the water. It also flipped if ya sneezed near it. Well they invited me to go up to the Saco River around North Conway NH and Fryeburg, Maine when I was maybe 15. Interesting I now live near that and cross it almost daily, though some downstream. Anyway, the trip was to stay a campground in Brownfield Maine and float/paddle down the river for two days. My boy cousin Dave of my own age REALLY wanted to use the racing canoe instead of the "other" one. That was a behemoth of PINK fiberglass that was over 18 feet long and nearly 40 inches across. Stable. You had to TRY to flip it. Well, my uncle figured (correctly) that me having never been in a canoe was a bad idea for a racer. My uncle and my girl cousin Deb about 3 years younger than me took the Kevlar water slicing rig. They went NO more than 200 feet downstream and all their belongings were underwater. Trash bags helped... but not foolproof. Me and Dave were in the potential Ugly canoe contest winner.. warm and dry.

Project complete. So much fun. I figured out that it needed an 84 inch belt… It works perfectly and along with a little bit of alignment with the belt cover, it all turned out nice. Thanks for all of the help along the way guys… Appreciate it very much best, Jason.

One last trim edge to do, and I’m glad to have a little extra material. Lots of compound angles to trial and error and error and error and figure and error some more. I’m hopeful that I will get this corner all mathed out, so the opposite will be equal measurements and easy to pop on.

Id like to build y’all a bunk house some day 😎. With the pool area having a bath house, it should be easy to hose y’all down if you get into Dan’s hot sauce too soon for the road trip home. 🤠

That looks like how wheel horse should have done it from the start. If mine weren't all foot control I would do that as well. Looks like it would be a more natural movement from forward to reverse.

Our class C was on a 2017 Chevy 4500 Chassis. We sold it back at Thanksgiving. It had fair power and got 8-10mpg on flat land. It rode like a noisy rough box truck. PO installed a rear sway bar that took the sway out but stiffens it up too much. I took it off but put back on due to too much sway when a semi passed. I’ve test drove a couple of the MB chassis one. They were better but still noisy. We’re looking at Trailers and Class A’s I drove a 2016 Newman Ventana 37 ft Class A with the 340hp Cummins diesel. Had it floored 25% of the time to get to 55mph. Doing some research it really needed 380/400+hp. Yesterday I drove a 2022 entry level Tiffin with the 7.3 Ford chassis. Much better acceleration. Certainly not a rocket, but I never had to floor it to get it to move. The last 10?years all brands of the gas Class A have been built on the Ford chassis. Currently the RV market is flooded with all the people that bought them during Covid dumping them Good time to buy bad time to sell.

Hence why we went up to the big boy Class A pusher. It’s large, but shorter overall than a crew cab long bed and a 40’ fifth wheel. Add an enclosed trailer and we’ll have a bit more length but that’s ok.

I'm particularly happy with this trailer. I originally built it 8 or 10 years ago as an experiment. ALL RECYCLED old school PT. Dismantled deck, posts & beams. Kinda set it aside for a few years because we changed our wood collection methods. Last year decided to rebuild and strengthen it.

A good friend of my late father is looking for his second Wheelhorse tractor. He has a 1054 and wants a different dedicated mowing machine. That is, in fact, the first lines of a classified ad I placed earlier. I sent him a link so he could see what we're searching for. Seems he's already leaning towards a name. The Ugly Bruce II 💜 Purple was my Ole Man's favorite color...
