Thank you @953 nut , good info to know. I wouldn’t mind joining WHCC when I get there. Redsquare has a 20 year anniversary that’s really cool, I definitely wouldn’t mind being in a group picture. I will be sure to try and find you and other folks. I also look forward to looking at all the goodies, shirts stickers etc, maybe another attachment… I already know it’s gonna be an expensive event, the Warden is gonna see it all…. .

Ive always wanted to attend the show and this is the year I’m making it happen. I have already got time off from work and I’m looking into reserving a room not far from the show for 2 nights. I plan on attending Friday and Saturday. I plan on bringing the ol’ lady as well. What all is needed when I arrive there? Is there a fee? I’d like to bring my 1257 to ride around on, maybe. I’d also like to try and meet most of the good people from this forum but I only know user names, is there a spot “red square” usually has? I look forward to the show and see all the stuff and tractors. I’ll be there Friday and then go back to the hotel and then come back Saturday. Hopefully that’s ok.

I'll try to remember to wear mine. Look for the Red Square banners. And a trailer load of 5 gallon buckets.

By all means. Maybe another for your spouse? My strategy is to work out in advance the things I’m looking for and my target $. I keep the list in my pocket. I started this at my second show after getting home from the first one and realizing I’d not remembered to look for something I really needed. One item on the list is my budget for unanticipated “oh I just gotta get this” purchases. At the last couple of shows I’ve brought stuff to sell--that’s been hit and miss. As for finding Red Square folk, my sense is that about 20% of the crowd are members, maybe more, but only a few follow the forum closely. Quite a few folks bring a 10x10 popup tent, lawn chairs, and personal refreshments and set up shop along the parade loop (the food concession does a great job at fair prices, though). I suspect you’ll want to spend most of your time on the move, however, as there is a lot to see. For the last two shows I’ve made and worn a “Handy Don” name tag but very few others wear one--ya just have to be friendly and start a conversation!

By all means bring your 1257, lots of people riding around the grounds as well as a parade Friday and Saturday. There will probably be a Red Square group photo done since we are coming up on the 20th anniversary of the group. There is no fee to be paid but it is a good idea to join the WHCC as a thank you for them putting on such a great show. Feel free to stop in at any of the shade tents and introduce yourself, pull up a chair and stay a while. Lots of good motels in Chambersburg and Gettysburg, Many of us will be at the Quality Inn, Chambersburg.

Truth be known, Thursday is one of the best pickin' days, if you are looking for something specific. It's also cool to see everyone lined up at 8:30am waiting for the gates to open at 9.

We normally set up in the inner loop. The first canopy on the right closest to the concessions stand. Position 1. Look for a big gray Coleman canopy and a tall ugly guy.

A few hot beds of RS guys. Just a sample, it is where I go when I am looking for someone or something. Position 1, these guys are close to the con-sess-e-on stand and have a well seasoned knowledge of who's / who! Position 2, these guys like hanging out and know the trading ins and outs. Position 3, these boys are always working on a horse, of course.

Grafted a craftsman seat mount and new seat onto the 520H. Had to do a little chopping and massaging on Craftsman seat mount but just bolt on for the 520 so if somebody decides to give me a pristine 520 seat I can convert it back . Sure sets better than the busted up original one.

Yes it is a aftermarket. Thank you for bringing that up I honestly didn’t even think of that. The old one I pulled didn’t have one either. I’m going to be looking for that one now especially since I now have the time to really focus on it.

Gunk Original Engine Cleaner or Purple Power will cut the grease, sometimes a cleaning brush can help. Be aware that Purple Power can be harmful to aluminum or paint if left on too long, have a garden hose ready to rinse. Lose the pressure washer, it isn’t necessary and can do damage to many things.

I bought this cover in 1989 with a new 312-8. It is pictured on a 420-LSE here. Once in a while they pop up here for sale. High quality cover.

Thats cool, unfortunately tho because of our work schedule Thursday evening is when I’ll be on the way there, then hit the sack and Friday morning early will be at the show. I heard that Thursday is the best day for gettin what you want while gettin is good. The only thing I really want I already made plans with a dude to meet there, hoping he keeps his word. I have other small things on a list, mostly if I see something by sight.

Wheel Horse garden tractors were not matched with a deck when shipped, you bought the tractor and chose a deck at time of purchase/order. The 6" wheels were/are required when the tractor is equipped with the 37" cutting deck. The 37" deck has two blades with the left blade offset to the front causing interference with the 8" left front tire on sharp left turns. The lower horsepower rated tractors were more apt to be purchased with the 37" deck than the 14 horsepower and up units. Now why in the world my 1990 416H tractor was factory equipped with 6" wheels is a mystery to me.

For the past 8 years in the Winter I make sure the the fuel is what they call Winter diesel. A phone call to confirm. It is usually in by the first of November . I buy all my fuel from the same station. I then add 2 ounces per 5 gallons of a JD diesel fuel conditioner called fuel- protect. When it warms up I run it with no additive. No issues in the Yanmar.

Usually one time a year at most but I just mow every once in a while with some of mine just to remind me how much I like the zero turn to mower. I've never had any trouble with anything but try and avoid any part of the fuel systems. I blow the sensitive areas (wiring etc.) off with air compressor and will let them dry out really good before trying to crank them, sometimes overnight.

Like Palmolive? Note: substitute Gojo wherever it says Palmolive and imagine that lady’s dipping a Kohler in that bowl of green liquid that’s actually orange, and made to soften greasy engine grime. And it will still make no sense. I’m going to try that Gojo though, I’m thinking that will work great.

Heard tell oven cleaner but i have never used it. Might take paint off?? I use the color cleaners and dawn power wash and a pressure washer.

As you can see the bolts holding the transmission halves together are rather far apart and the factory hitch puts all of the weight on the right side. After cracking one case half I won't be adding a lot of weight behind the axle where it can bounce and add dynamic force to the static load.

Hello, And onto a Topic for a 1987 Wheel Horse 310-8 Kohler M10 Engine Connector to Tractor Connector Wire Conformation with Correct Arrangement at Connection. I have run into an issue do to Colors of Wires are not in diagrams, and the only Diagram I have seen with some of the colors I am not sure on the connector where they go? And yes, I need some access to more wiring diagrams to work this out. In one diagram the Yellow Wire goes to the Head Lights, but to share, I can not upload this diagram do to access to download, wish I could to elaborate. I have photos below of what I have currently from an Engine Rebuild, and Connector dismantling and reassembling that I am not a 100% sure if correct. Reason, I have a blown Stator that the images of the wiring currently could have contributed to. So, I have seen one Kohler M10 Wiring Diagram with the Color Yellow, but no Black of the Stator. Point it, I am going to track down the leads of the Stator to see where they go on the Tractor. So, as you see, in the second row down from the hump, the hump is the White Magneto Wire Lead, which is correct. But below on the Right side of the White Wire, is the Yellow, and then to the Bottom Left of the White, is the Black Wire. Both Black Wire and Yellow Wire are Stator Wires with a Stator that has inline the built in Diode Rectifier. Not sure which one really. Thing is this. The Engine was disassembled and rebuilt over winter, and connector taken apart. And I have a Blown Stator, it does not pass the Kohler's Stator Trouble Shooting Guide Test. It failed a few of the test. It Grounds out(One Wire to the Chassis), plus there is no continuity between the Yellow and Black Wire's of the Stator. No .1-.2 ohms. These test came from the Site's Kohler's Trouble Shooting Section on Testing Stators. Also, my Stator is a Two Wire Stator with the Built in Diode Rectifier for conversion of AC to DC to charge the battery and I guess a few other things like Lights. Thank you for your time, I am trying to collaborate that my wires are either wrong or correct before I install a new Stator and Wire it up to the Connector. Making sure I am avoiding a misconnection and hopefully the Stator works out this next time. Thank you for your help.

The cold temps this past winter were the first I’ve ever had any gelling issues, and most stores around the area had an issue keeping stock on the shelves. Other than that, I’ve never needed any additives for a truck that sits up to months at a time (winter/summer vehicles). My best suggestion is to keep the fuel tank either full, or empty, but not in the middle.

Same here. We don't try to grow a lawn. In the rough area around the garden it seems like about 3 years after its creation there was more grass than weeds. Rough. But green when cut. Good enough. Out front of the house we'll eventually need to replace the sand/rocks/dirt with prettier dirt. Or stones. Or maybe even let it go wild for a bit so it too grows green stuff.

My mom has been poking around going through old stuff at the house. She found this newspaper clipping from summer of 1974. Bruce of course is my late father. @Qball Yes... The Ugly Bruce. The plant in the following piece is still alive and thriving. If it was blooming in 1917 it was at least several years old then. So now it's 110? More? Horticultural Happening In Petersham By RUTH BASSINGTHWAITE PETERSHAM - Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Banks of Hardwick road recently had a "horticultural happening" in their home. A spider lily plant, last known to blossom some 15 years ago, began to bloom with one after another of the slender flowers appearing as day followed day. The bulb from which the plant has grown is known to be at least 60 years old, members of the family say. It belonged to the late Mrs. Lizzie Rich, Banks' great grandmother. In June of 1917 the plant responded to the bridal blooming month by wholeheartedly for the wedding of Edward and Mildred (Rich) Welch, the present owners' grandparents. Mrs. Vernon Banks, formerly Roberta Welch, had the plant for many years, but, not considering herself a green thumb expert, just "let it be" until her son and wife set up their own home. Mrs. Banks considers her daughter-in-law to be "a good hand with flowers" and it must be so. The younger Mrs. Banks noted that it was possible to witness the unfolding bud to flower production in an hour or two. How she had time to watch is a mystery to us as "almost four year old" Eric, and Heidi and Alana, nine month old twins, provide plenty of action every hour of every day.
