8 pointsCouldn’t get a good rear shot because of the sprayer, maybe I should have saved this for front end Friday ! I know it’s not a Wheel Horse but I figured you guys would like it. This tractor belongs to a friend of mine who has many Case and International Harvester tractors. Most of which are in this condition!

7 pointsPicked up this ultra rare 520-H, these are a limited edition with only 100 in existence, and I have #77

5 pointsInstead of doing it while mowing, I make special event of it. The C141 - 8-speed with the tranny selected to Low 2 or Low 1, Throttle set at about 3/4 position, Ear buds in, Beverage in hand & away we go. Usually about a 3 drink job.

5 pointsI’m not sure if I’ve ever lined up Frank with a 953 or 1054, but I found this photo opportunity pretty cool. The comparison of the two is similar, but so different!

4 pointsPut the new shoes on the horse today since the wheels were good and dry. Wheel weights back on tomorrow. And a nice straight hood is in the works. Some minor body work and then prime and paint. Old one has major damage.

4 pointsI have the Northern Tool one for smoothing out and planting the junior plow field. Works better than a pallet or bed spring. Real reasonable at the time. It can be flipped over for the spikes up or down. You can also add sections to it to make it bigger. Kind of a PIA if it gets all tangled up.
-
4 pointsThey are a great piece of equipment for final finish before planting. They do tend to plug up easy if you have a lot of trash though (loose grass, leaves, etc) 1- moldboard plow 2- disc harrow 3- drag harrow or chain harrow 4- plant Would also be useful as a finish tool on gravel as you suggested.

3 pointsI also have #78, and it is RedSquare’s 20th anniversary this year. What should I do with this one?

3 pointsThe gravel part of my drive my go to is a mid mount on a short frame for tight turning. If I was a better operator one can even crown the gravel for run off.

3 pointsI sharpened blades of my 42 RD deck. Who knows when somebody did this before but blades (aside from some dirt, oil and surface rust) looked as new. Oregon 91-804 as we speak. I used butane small torch, 1 1/8 wrench, another diy flat wrench to install blades, and some brutal force to unscrew the nuts.
-
3 pointsThere is many uses for a chain drag harrow, my grandfather would use one to distribute cow manure in fields he temporarily had cows in.

3 pointsSee if you can find an electrical conduit lock nut to add to the fitting before you install it into the block. Install the fitting as far as it will go into the block and then back it out at least 1/2 a turn so the fitting is loose. Using a hammer and punch now tighten the lock nut against the block. Fitting is now tight. If you remove using the reverse sequence once a year it will likely never be seized again. I always apply graphite to the threads as it seems to help. What the lock nuts look like available from Home Depot or the like. They are available for all common pipe sizes. This is a procedure I learned from a small engine repair shop that serviced thousands of small engines a year. It was part of their regular service.

2 pointsDid not know we had one of these on the forum. But I sold my c-120 today and went to a great cause. Father and son project!
-
2 pointsYou are talking about a 656, right? Did you download the manual - it should clearly show the ignition switch wiring. Not so on the Facet pump (not offered by WH) The pump red wire goes to either the "I" terminal or at the coil "+" side. Do add an inline fuse in a weather resistant holder on that. The black goes to a good frame ground. This way, it turns off with the key off. Not a bad idea to add another fuse on the Battery wire to the keyswitch either...

2 pointsGood news, guys. The name Wheel Horse and the logo will live on, with new Wheel Horses tractors and implements being built. MTD has purchased the Wheel Horse name and logo from Toro, and will start building new equipment with the famed Wheel Horse name and logo. Ridney Dongerfield, a spokesman for MTD, said, "Wheel Horse never got the respect. MTD is proud to announce that Wheel Horse will be joining our line of garden equipment, joining names like Troy Bilt, Cub Cadet, and Bolens." The new Wheel Horses will be built using MTD's reputation for quality products and is expected to look similar to a Yardman, but with the famed Wheel Horse logo, name and color scheme. Prices to be similar to a new Cub Cadet, with several models being planned. Models will include tractors with various deck sizes, engine sizes and features. Expect new tractors to start appearing February 30 of next year.

2 pointsMy 11 year old son told his mom he had made her some brownies, and left them in the kitchen. ...I fear for his safety when she decides to get him back.

2 pointsThose interchange lists can't see into the future. Just rest assured, ALL the decks from the tach-a-matic years are interchangeable. Just to simplify things, ignore the 37" and 60" and the lawn tractors. That means from 72-73 thru 2007. Any differences in the p/n's doesn't affect the interchangeability. I'm running a late 70's deck on a 2005 and a 2005 deck on a 1976. It's as simple as that.

2 pointsNot exactly a Wheel Horse attachment, but the MF GC1720 I just bought came with a chain harrow. I've never used one, but I think it will be a useful for maintenance on a gravel driveway. Anybody out there used one of these?

2 pointsWell we were able to put together an interesting group at the big show on Friday. @Lane Ranger, Chris Frock , Josh Aungst, and myself got our tractors together for some pictures with our extremely uncommon CBR-327 front mount sickle bar mowers. It was very cool to get 4 of these together in one place considering how uncommon they are. Thank you guys for bringing them along. For those of you that may not know, these sickle bars were made/sold in 1961 and early 1962 based off of paperwork I have found. They were similar to the prior CBR-32 sickle bars used on rj/suburban tractors but used a floating chain drive system and different hitch to be mounted on the front engine round hood tractors. I know of around 8 to exist personally. I’m sure there are more but still very uncommon.

2 pointsAt Florida Flywheelers this year on Rodney Burger's. 701 with the CBR-327 Front Chain Drive Cutter Bar I refurbished a couple years ago. We had a lot of visitors looking at this while we demonstrated how it works.

2 pointsNot all electrical conduit lock nuts are the same, be sure to ask for a RIDGID CONDUIT LOCK NUT. Many of the lock nuts sold at big box stores are for EMT fittings and will not work well, go to an electrical supply house.

2 pointsEven though, this was an April's Fool joke, Toro did use MTD back in 2006 and 2007 to make a line of lawn and garden tractors. Toro stopped making both the Classic Wheel Horses and the Toro lawn and garden tractors in 2006. So to fill that void, Toro contracted MTD to make the LX line of lawn tractors. These were made by MTD with the Toro name on them and painted red in 2006 and 2007. I run across some on facebook marketplace from time to time. They looked a bit like what the MTD built Troy Bilt tractors look like.

2 pointsI closed the deal on this today. Only had time to work the paperwork and write the check. Supposed to be raining here for a few days. Won't be able to try it out for a few days.

2 pointsGo to Tractor Supply and get a 5L820 and a 5L810. Use the one that fits best and return the other and you'll be fine. It's a Hydro so you don't have to worry about clutching.

1 pointSeveral months ago one of the other drivers at work mentioned he'd been given an old chain saw by his neighbor. He already had a newer one and his first thought was how Trina and I harvest our own firewood. He's been here to help and take some home in the past. Never even tried to start it or compare it to his current saw. He's not normally a person who keeps extras of anything so he offered the saw to us. That saw is a 1990 something Jonsered 2054 Turbo. The numeric designation back then meant Jonsered installed a 20" bar and the saw has a 53.6 cc engine. Round up to 54. No pics of it yet because I took it straight to my favorite small engine repair place. They'll check it over and advise. Likely (hopefully) just needs a tune-up and a bar & chain. I got to texting back n forth with @Stepney about it and he mentioned that he had another Jonsered that maybe I oughtta own. He came up for a visit yesterday and we swapped some machinery around. He showed up with TWO saws & left with a tractor. The Workhorse GT1800. The saws are a Jonsered CS 2171 and a Stihl MS291. Pics below. The label pic is of the Stihl. The 2171 is a 70.7 cc. Currently outfitted with a 24" bar. There's also the original 20" bar. That may end up on the 2054 if it'll fit. Interesting thing about this 71 cc saw is that I've occasionally wanted a larger more powerful saw than my current 49 cc Echo CS490. That's a great saw but every once in a while we tackle a larger tree. This year we're clearing more land and felling several bigger hardwoods. Excellent timing. The Stihl is a 2017 Model year. 56 cc. It'll need a repair to the spark plug threads and a tune-up, at minimum. I'll post follow up info as the repairs are done. With any luck I'll have three saws larger than the 49 cc.

1 pointThanks! We are fortunate enough to have a tractor graveyard near us with a pretty good Wheel Horse section. Perhaps my neighbor can find a useable height lever. Almost Heaven Lawn Mower Graveyard

1 pointAfter some 50 mph winds, one of the brush piles re-ignited. There was no safety issue because we had disk the field but this fire showed no evidence of smoke before I left for home. This one was partially burned five days ago. It was monitored until rain started. Got to be careful when burning piles.
