12 pointsAbout 30 Amish buggies at my neighbors this morning. I took my daily walk around the farm and got a few pics.
-
12 pointsI took the opposite approach, found a tree in the forest I really loved and built the house behind it.
-
11 pointsI’ve moved several trees over the years but this might be the biggest one?! Probably 50’ tall and the ball was around 15’. That’s a guess, the bucket on the track loader I’m operating is 8’ wide. The Caterpillar 330 excavator weighs 83,000 lbs and was having trouble moving it alone, so I pushed it on the steel plate with a Cat 953C. Moving it to the house was the easy part, then things got tricky. After getting in place we had to pull the plate out, so I buried the bucket and we strapped the ball to it. Then the excavator pulled the plate. The tree kept moving as the plate came out and once it was totally out the tree was not in the exact spot it needed to be. With the house on one side and a concrete wall on the other it made it difficult. So we had to get the plate back under the tree, which took some time. With the plate in place we pulled the tree totally out of the hole and regrouped. By the time we got it back in place it was 5:00 and we decided to call it quits for the day. Monday we will try again. The tree needs to be exactly in place to be centered on the front door within a few inches. And yes the landscape architect is there measuring to make sure it’s correct. The ocean facing house is over 60,000 square feet. One of the project managers took us inside, it was mind boggling. You could get lost inside! The mechanical rooms were like nothing I’ve ever seen. We walked UNDER the indoor pool on our way to check out the car elevator in the basement. Sorry, strict rules no pictures inside the house. It is really unbelievable that one person has this much money! The project manager told us that the owner is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. Over the years I’ve been in a lot of these homes in the estate section but this one takes the cake.

6 points@c-series don If you would quit playing with those yellow machines and hook all those Red C-Series you have up to it the job would already be done

6 pointsOne of my buddies came over last night, and we used my Duramax “Ruby Wilbur” to give Colleen a bit of an assist. We’re free!

4 pointsThis is what i did today! Removed one of my RJ transmissions to replace tomorrow with a spare one i put new oil seals, woodruff keys and hubs on while i was in Florida for Florida Flywheelers in February. My oneman process used two steel milk crates! One under motor snd frsme and one under transmission so you can remove the six bolts holding the transmission on the frame ! This two crate process works pretty good!

4 pointsI do some hauling for my neighbor. Mainly to and from the butcher shop which is a 3hour rt by buggy. He always asks "vuts mu bill". I just reach out and shake his hand and thank him for outbidding the developers when he bought the farm at auction. When he is harvesting his produce, I'll often find a head of cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, or a cantaloupe in my yard. I guess it falls of the wagon.

4 pointsI figure that as climate change continues us northern folk will be living in the best place as far as temperature and hurricanes go.

4 pointsWHY????? I'll keep the long winters. Too danged hot already where most of you are.

4 pointsThree inches of white heavy glop here in Brunswick so far, and it's still coming down. Good day to work on my old Dodge M37 project. Speaking of Morse code, I just finished restoring an old British Army heliograph, which was used to send Morse code messages by reflected sunlight. I don't know Morse code, except S-O-S, but if I did, I'd be ready to send some kind of message about something to someone. It's a WWI heliograph tripod with a somewhat later heliograph mounted on it.

4 pointsRegarding the play in the linkage, start by removing the rear fender and give the transmission (and whole tractor ) a good cleaning. Especially clean the linkage on top the transmission/tunnel area. Trying to adjust dirty linkage is just asking for frustration of things acting different with every adjustment.

4 pointsNow if you were rich like @c-series don's client, you could have built the house in front and Don could have skidded it into place behind.., just need a bigger dozer...

3 pointsBeen almost a month since my last post on this subject. Sooo what the heck has Dan been up to?? Well I posted some sheet metal for a C.C. that I painted black. After that I moved on to a Simplicity. Some body work followed by some white paint. More body work follow by some orange paint. This concluded the most of the Simple City side project. Rest of the Cub Cadet showed up, and I finished the rest of that up this morning. And finally I get to get back to work on my 401 project again. Spent the rest of my day assembling part of the engine. I managed to find as set of NOS OEM rings for this engine. Piston that was in the engine only had 3 rings. The NOS OEM set had more rings than a guy can collect on the first level of Sonic the Hedge Hog. . 1 in the top groove, 3 in the second groove and 4 in the third groove. @WHX?? Stopped by & gave me a hand. Thanks Jim!!! Hope to get back on track with this project. Should have more to show the next time I check in.

3 pointsNephew and niece taking the ol C160-8 for stroll. Nephew 4 and already drives like its his. Niece 5 Is a little more timid about operating but guess thats just the difference between girls and boys.
-
3 pointsGetting the engine put back together and discovered this, a hole in the side of the intake port. Really glad I found that, used JB weld to fix it.

3 pointsMarch 22, 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs the Beer and Wine Revenue Act. This law levies a federal tax on all alcoholic beverages to raise revenue for the federal government and gives individual states the option to further regulate the sale and distribution of beer and wine.

3 pointsI was told there are 200-250 people working on this project on any given day.

3 pointsI am the one for whom Bob posted/ inquired. Thank you Bob! All of my projects seem to be long term, and this conversion would not be an exception. It is still just a concept. I currently have 4, mid 70s tractors, all with running k341s kohlers. Three have sundstrand transmissions one is an 8 speed. At least 2 are C-160s, the other two are probably mutts, haven't really tried to vett them. One of the mutts, has a leaky axle seal. I've made a couple of attempts at replacing the seal, with no luck. There seems to be a small ridge of metal in the casing that prevents the seal from being seated. I need to get the transmission off the tractor and onto the workbench to assess. If that goes well. This is the one I intend to modify. Like I said, it's a long term project, and will take me a while to get there. I always seem to have a lot on my plate. My thought was to attach a tab to the sundstrand rocker, but replacing it with the Eaton rocker makes perfect sense. These little nuggets of knowledge are priceless. I would love to here more, possibly from someone who has made a successful conversion.
-
3 pointsCut out a new muffler for the 308-8. Went down to Kpnnic to get it welded up. We put it on to see how it sounded. It's a lot quiter then the original. I just need to remove it and get it painted.
-
3 pointsNot correct for an Eaton, only true for an older Sundstrand. If the tractor was a 1997 model, it has an Eaton transmission. Hydraulic lift would make it an 1100 model. 10w30 only in those. If the tranny filter faces the rear, it's an Eaton 1100. There are some Eaton 700 models (312A, 516H, 518H), but they won't have hydraulic lift. They use 5w20 oil. No external filter as well.

3 points@Lee1977 and @AlexR I took your collective advice. Made this little jig up to center my hole saw and it worked pretty well. As expected, it got just into the smaller bolt pattern so I just rounded them out the best I could. Looks sort of like ATV wheels now ... A little at least. Looks good enough for a garden tractor. Test fits OK. Sprayed a first coat of primer on so it won't flash rust and stopped there for tonight. The other wheel already has a tire mounted so that one might be interesting holding it while cutting the center out. Maybe some ratchet straps will hold it...

3 pointsThank you. That 1076 started my love for . Who would have known that 11yrs later I would own over 20 of them. There is still an extra special place in my heart for my 1076.

2 pointsGot the second coats of paint on the top frames and lids, along with some other things. Wheels are assembled half way and first coat of flat white. The little valves are second coated gray and the end caps are silver. Small tool box recoated, handle and hinges have been highlighted with silver paint. The glad hands holder at the front of the tank is painted, silver accented, and glued on. The gray round pieces are the air brake "cans". I may run some red and blue airlines too.

2 pointsI was going to suggest the same thing. Something about the orientation of the eccentric in that first picture just doesn't look right.
-
2 pointsHad to do some unplanned scratch building this morning. The grey piece with the hole in it is the base on top of the tanker that holds the fill/vent door. I have two doors but for some reason couldn't find the other base even though I have THREE extra kits for parts. 🙄 So..... I found a hunk of sheet styrene the right thickness and made a base. The hinges are made of another door hinge like the one pictured. I sliced off the ends, trimmed them, and glued it all down.

2 pointsI've been fasting for about 38 hours - not counting coffee. Down over 4 lbs. What's different this time is that I've been low carb for about 3 weeks so I'm not storing water in my cells like I used to. This weight will be easier to keep off, provided I stay low carb, which is the plan.
-
2 pointsContemplate carefully how much time you'll spend fiddling around trying to hold the wheel vs removing and remounting the tire.
-
2 pointsSurprised that Craftsman hasn't had the crap kicked out of it when the shop was closed up...

2 pointsI bought this from Mike a.k.a. Sparky a few years ago. This came from the big show in 23 or 24. Maybe Mike can chime in. I believe around there. I was going to sell this one until I took it out of the shed and could not believe how it started right up after sitting out there for six months. I’ve been tweaking it a little bit for the last couple days. The last thing I needed for it was a coil so I bought an Excel coil #8140. I got this info from squawk. He used to be electrician so I figured he knows what he’s talking about. This is a nice little tractor.Great for going around in the shows. So hopefully I did better on this video than the last. Let me know what you’re thinking. I’m a big boy I can take it. I look up in the manual section and this engine is an A prefix so that being it is a 65 engine in a 66 frame. Again enjoy the vid. VID_20260321_123045296~2.mp4 Probably 15-20 auctioneers selling everything. farm equipment, cars, trucks, furniture, produce, feed, flowers, crafts, guns, livestock, etc. This pony had a $1300 reserve and did not sell at $1100. 2 pointsDifferently a Wheel Horse PP8 the second pick is from a RJ-35 brochure 1956. There was also other manufacturers that copied the slot hitch hook up but there plows look different. Here is my 1961 Jacobsen Chief 100 the y copied a lot of Wheel Horses designs including the slot hitch. Just changed a thing or two to not get in trouble for copy right infringement. Notable things is slot hitch, transmission, lift lever, front axle.
