We did to until we upgraded to a two man outside antenna in 1952. One person took the pipe wrench to the back porch and turned the support pipe while the second person relayed the picture quality to the pipe man.

Oldies but Goodies! A picture i took at the 2012 Mentone, Indiana Wheel Horse Swap Meet that made it in Law and Garden Tractor Magazine! I took several photos at the request of Richard Layne of the highlight of the Mentone Swap Meet held on April 21, 2012. This was a two horses purchased by a one horse hauler: Tthe trailer hauling the two C models wheel horse tractors had a flat tire down the road about a mile after leaving the Mentone Park Swap Meet site. Both Wheel Horse tractors ran and as my brother David said he should have hooked up the Wheel Horse tractors as a team and hauled the real horse home! When i was young teen my Dad and I would go to MONTGOMERY WARDS we would go see the Wards tractors - begging him to buy one so i could start a lawn mowing business - finally he bought one under the condition i split the income from mowing lawns to buy the Wards 7 hp tractor with mower and plow - - it was his way of teaching me about expenses and learning "cash in cash out" -- Then 20 yrs later in 80s as "paycheck to paycheck" family with 2 young children I would go into local business who sold WH tractors -- loved wandering around the WH showroom seeing all that pretty red equipment - dreaming and hoping one day to afford buying a WH after having owned that basic Wards tractor as a teen. I was fortunate that an Aunt left my sisters and me a little money when she passed - - bought my 1989 312-8 then with various attachments all of which i could never have afforded from our very tight family budget. Now the WH tractors are in my daughter and son's family as well -- we have all had different paths becoming WH owners - My orientation does not go back to 50s or 60s or even the 70s like some others here but the entire history of the company and the trail of WH owners is certainly interesting how those journeys began.

March 4, 2005, billionaire mogul Martha Stewart is released from a federal prison near Alderson, West Virginia, after serving five months for lying to Congress about her sale of ImClone stock in 2001. After her televised exit from the facility, Stewart flew on a chartered jet from nearby Greenbrier International Airport to New York, where she would serve out her remaining five-month home confinement on her 153-acre Bedford, New York, estate.

So let me get this straight... it's not ok for her to lie to Congress about stock deals, but it's ok for Congressmen and women to lie about their stock deals while in Congress... Got it...

This afternoon I had my pre-discharge evaluation with the Doctor, PAs, PTs and Hospitalist, Friday morning I will be heading home. . The Hospitalist said they have established a new policy, no laxatives will be given within three hours of any other oral medication. That probably would have gotten me home three or four days earlier.

The return trip to the hospital showed no bleeding without the Eliquis blood thinner, so I returned to the rehab center several days ago. I was being given iron pills that should have stimulated hemoglobin but the numbers went down rather than up. Every day they were in the 8 range which is rather low. Well I have learned another lesson along with the entire medical staff at the rehabilitation center. I requested the information sheets on the prescriptions I was taking; BINGO Two medications that were being administered at the same time as the iron were making it ineffective. The other two meds were moved to the evening rather than the morning and my hemoglobin went from 8.4 to 9.6 on the first day. 13 +/- is normal so I should be headed home by Friday. I know we all hate to read every word in the instructions but in this case it was well worth doing. Internet sites didn't reveal any negative interaction but reading the precautions and determining how the could impact others like the iron pill proved to be an eye opener.

The Sweepster C-48 broom really does an excellent job of getting the rocks out of the grass. I used to sweep them back into the road when it was dirt. Now it’s paved so and so is my driveway so I won’t be using it for that purpose anymore. I’ll still use it for light snow and if I ever get my rear in gear I’m going to add some casters to it so I can de-thatch my lawn. Or I’ll just use my EZ-Rake model 100, sorry if I got off topic. Is it too soon to start the annual thread, in excitement to the annual pilgrimage? I have a few boxes of N.O.S. C series restoration parts to go through. I’ve got lots of original belts from Wheel Horse and Toro company too. I’ll be going through the boxes soon to list. Most of my big stuff I’ve listed is already sold and ready to haul. Let’s see what you got!

I used the 1445 Auto today to clean out some deep litter bedding in the chicken coop. I hauled that beautiful nitrogen out to a spot that I’d like to plant a spring/summer food plot blend in front of my ladder stand. This $50 gutted manure spreader makes a wonderful hauler for the poop!

Got a little more work done on model railroad building. Painted each and every brick. The colors are a bit bright for a abandoned building but will darken when I do some weathering. I think I spent about 8 hours painting bricks. Still a long way before completion.

My wife is a medical professional. About 25 years ago the laws in Texas changed. She can’t even accept a free pen with a drug company name on it. Her clinic doesn’t even let drug sales people in the door. Front door has a no solicitation sign.

Hello, my Name is Dick and I recently scooped up a D160. I had actually been looking at 312-8s because they are gear drive but I recently purchased a large property with wooded land and suddenly I found my self needing a heavier machine. I camper across a D160 with the snowblower, plow, and deck. Rear 3 point hitch, running and working for $800. I had to send a kid to fetch it and when he returned I realized that I believed the deck is not the correct one and I’m in need of a mule drive. I’ve been creeping this site for a while and I figured how I need one of join.

Let me be perfectly clear. My wife is going to want to kill me if/when I buy another tractor! 🤣

That is exactly it @ineedanother! Thank you! I don’t think we’ve heard from @johnnymag3 in quite a while here? And yes, as I remember that Eddie Murphy tractor is in very good condition. So is @Ike’s 130hr 418. I think there was some movement in the zipper area of my pants when I read 130hrs! I’d like to see more photos of both of them. Maybe someday I can put one of them in with my 400 series?

@WHX??Had another post (k181 ticking sound). Well I started peeling the onion, new rings, dingleberry hone, both valves, new valve spring, glasses the head and deck, new bearings, seals, and carburetor and fuel pump rebuild. Had crankshaft and block checked, .0015 tapper on crankshaft (in spec) .0025 in the middle of the bore ( should be ok new Kohler .020 over rings ). I got it apart might as well get it done. That's why I asked about the rotators, I would have to replace the springs if I use the rotators. Like @Achto said it ran 50+ Year why mess with it.

Update. I ordered a set and received them today. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DK9F6HVB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title. Looked like a drop in. Wrong! Holes in the spring are 8" OC, the sliders are 7.9! So close!! Hogging out the springs is a no go as to the hardness. I'm going to punch out the staked in bolts on the sliders and file out the hole. We'll get 'er done! Once I'm done the old sliders are available for the price of shipping. PM me if interested.

I'm glad thing are getting better Dick. I use a site call drugs.com. I have all of my prescription meds registered there. It shows all the potential interactions ranked from mild to severe. Any time another med is added to my regime, I enter it to see the results. Though I trust my GP, he suggested an Rx for me a couple months ago that could have had severe interactions with my Afib. When I showed it to my cardiologist, he was shocked. Fortunately I hadn't filled that Rx. I told my wife that I still feel that doctors are receiving kickbacks from drug companies for pushing new (expensive) stuff. Even though this does not apply in your case, a simple task of running your drug list for interactions with iron would have flagged the potential problems.

I was able to get my hand/fingers and ratchet up above the mid lift and tighten the two bolts, all is well now. On a side note I got my front dozer blade cleaned, sanded, primed, and painted

Back in the 70's I walked into Chandlers either to look, say hi or get something for my Suburban and sitting there was a shiny new 76 B-80 and I wanted it. We were just married and living paycheck to paycheck but I decided to call my wife for permission. I guess I didn't need to. Her words were: "you're going to buy it no matter what I say so just go ahead".

I noticed this morning walking to the mailbox that there was a lot of gravel in the yard by the road. We had a lot of small storms this winter and the Twp outdid itself with stone. Sweepster will be coming out early this year. My shoulder and rakes do not get along. Ed you need one and your cab would be a good thing. A face full of snow from the blower is one thing a face full of gravel when the wind picks up is another...Takes me multiple days waiting for the right wind conditions...

The posting Bill Allert made is the avenue I took with my Lawn Ranger Tecumseh motors. I rebuilt three rectifier boards with the 3 amp diodes from Radio Shack and the other parts that Ed Stoller mentioned. They work and do the same thing the original diodes did and they will produce the same electrical output! Ed Stoller did three articles in the Lawn and Garden Tractor Magazine a couple years ago that highlighted this issue. The bigger HH 100 Tecumseh 10 HP electronic coils are also an issue that many Tecumseh motor owners have dealt with. Ed Stoller came up with a solution for that one too!

Yep ... Late 80's I'd walk into a dealer looking for parts for my old 1067 square hood and they had new shiney 3, 4, 500s sittin there. I'd check out the fancy lookin PTO hoops and go wow. Then I'd look at the price and my drool & dreams were gone...

Post a wanted ad in classifieds guy. I have might one for a 20 hp if that helps. What would really help tho is a pic of what you have with a overall length. Part number would help too. FYI part numbers can always be looked up here as well. We do have all the parts manuals in files.

Rescued an orphaned snowplow today, guy threw in a set of tire chains (white bucket) as well. Was his father’s before he passed, his mom sold the tractor years ago, believed to be a 312-8, and the plow just collected dust. Today was the first time I drove since January 19th, day of my rotator cuff surgery, felt good to be back in the saddle.

The slides WH used have only that short travel. Our family has operators with heights from 60” to 74” so I’ve added sliders from other vendors with 6.5” travel. They also raise the seat about 0.75" There have been some notable complications: 1. As @ri702bill notes, putting weight aft of the rear axle can negatively affect the tractor’s stability--surprise backflips become a real danger 2. The “button in the fender” style seat safety interlock becomes iffy when the operator is light and farther forward. I’ve lengthened both the spring and the plunger and added a sleeve guide to counteract this but it’s a balancing act to keep it both safe and effective. 3. Moving the seat too far forward can interfere with the gearshift and/or tunnel-mounted motion control

They were around and it was a place you could buy an entire home, unlike today where it is a holiday decorations and patio furnishings store with some pieces of twisted lumber.
