@eo1bart, I tore one down recently that had water intrusion and too much damage to the bearings to justify repair. The diff is fine. You are welcome to those parts for the cost of shipping from NC if that's your best option.

No relation to @19richie66 I'm sure but every time I use it I think of him. It was FREE from a wholesaler for selling mini split air conditioners. Thought what good is it with a stupid metric crescent wrench head in our line of work. Supposed to be used for torqueing flare nuts for proper install of aforementioned ACs. 'Till I found they offer a 3/8 ratchet head. Found in the jungle no less. Bad news it only goes to 60 ft lbs but still. Measures in inch lbs as well. Has a visual & tone when torque setting is reached. Very handy for rod caps on a Clinton.

The vast majority during the Vietnam conflict were not given a choice. Volunteers were rare in that period. Even so, they served and sacrificed for us all. Thank you for sharing this. We should never forget those who are responsible for the freedom we have. They deserve our respect no matter what.

I'll go out on a limb here and say get them all. Swap them out weekly for a different look. SWMBO can't say a dang thing she's got different outfits. The same seat when new to.

Last year with mine, I couldn’t find what I was looking for so I cleaned up my original seat pan and reused the original seat covers, sprayed it with vinyl fabric paint, and stuffed it to “plump” it back up, as it was flat as a pancake. Just an idea if your seat cover is still decent. My vote is the black and white seat.

Looking at getting a new seat for the ol 1257. Don't know how previous owner (@WHX??) was so ruff on the one on it? Would like to get a poll on which seat y'all prefer. I know it is ultimately my choice but thought it might be fun to get a tally on which would be the most popular. I think I like the one with the white middle. Well made point! I got a lesson from a hydraulics guy. His advice was to go “firm” and then, with the pump running, tighten to just past where the leaking stops! So that’s how I did it and, so far, it’s worked.

I have an old co-worker that is typically in the gym the same time as me in the mornings. Today he told me he had the opportunity to catch an injured female bald eagle yesterday! His dad found her on a dog walk, and she couldn’t fly. They got permission from the authorities to catch and transport her to a rehab facility an hour and a half away. When she is ready to be released, they get to pick her up and set her free. I thought that was a story worth sharing! I might even see about being around for the release event.

Well as @c-series don knows, I am a purest. "Let it stock!" as my dad once told me when I revealed my plans for my 1980 Chevy K-10 pickup. 4" lift kit, oversize tires, rollbar, etc.. A mantra that I live by to this day. So, with that said, I'd go with whatever seat is closest to period correct, I think that is option D? The guy who did this video was in my High School graduating class...Elgin High 1967. Bob is the author and musician that put this video together. Sadly, he just passed a few weeks ago. The pictures are of most of us that went through the Service in the late 60's. These are friends that I still get together with, golf with and sometimes party with. @76c12091520h Brian Badman could probably help you out with replacement parts but, it would behoove you to upgrade to the heavier duty 8-speed anyway. Find one that has the 1 1/8" axles with eight pinions.

Lot of us have over hauled with after market parts (heck where are kohler part made nowadays..) Why did he want to replace the crankshaft because it needs to be ground and he can't do it??? Rebuild kits are 160 Valve guides $20 Crank bearings ( have never had to replace them) another $50 My machine shop bore and hone cylinder 100 Grind Crank 75 valve job 40 Will after market last 50 years like your did...Maybe not but, probably long enough...,,,

Along the way, some of our equipment was hosed with JIC hoses and nuts. One issue was leaking due form over tightening hose ends on the flares. Had to have a class on how not to gorilla tighten JIC fittings. After that a lot of problems went away. I have an inline figial digial head and it works pretty good, I have found it requires a certain touch.

I usually move the road kills off the road where it is safe for the eagles to feed on them.

I have Amish neighbors that will take fresh road kills. I hauled one last year and one this year.

All perspective. There's an hour you learned something too. Learning what not to do is just as important as learning what to do. It ain't gonna take you an hour the next time!

OK, I watched the video. It does give you the information you need. A few comments: As above, don't use a flywheel gear tooth and the starter to hold the flywheel, use a pair of the large fins. Clean well way back under the engine, there are fins there to help cool the oil. That plugged hose in the video is for the air filter switch. Clean the engine fins, inspect for oil leaks around the oil filter mount. Don't man handle the governor spring. Replace the fuel pump pulse hose, cut it longer than you need so it stays in the hole, then trim it to final length when you install the pump. Wash your hands and make the crankshaft and flywheel tapers perfectly clean. All threaded fasteners in this process should be oiled. Place a few drops of oil on the governor shaft where it sticks above the timing cover often. Skip the power tools to save the threads. Nut drivers will help and most things can be made tight enough while giving you a feel so no damage happens. After you get it running the idle mixture, slow idle speed, governed idle speed and maximum speed may need adjusted, if you need help with that, just ask. Never turn off the key till the engine returns to idle speed.

Yesterday I got a call from one of my old snowplowing customers saying that there was a tree across the driveway and the new plow guy couldn’t get in. So I borrowed a payloader and pushed it out of the way and plowed the driveway. Then went past a friends farm and he was out with his snowblower, the thing is so bad ass that I had to pull in and tell him that!! Since I was already in the loader I drove over to my mother’s house and plowed her driveway. 50 years ago I plowed this entire driveway with Tonka payloader and Tonka T-9 bulldozer. Somewhere my mother has pictures. Recently I posted a picture of me on my Work Horse plowing in this exact spot when I was 14. My mother who is 87 years old and one of the funniest people you can meet, told me “Go stand in front of that thing so I can take a picture and send it to my friends!” After that I went to work clearing snow off of a job site with a D-5 dozer. Not positive, but could it be the drain hose that normally attaches to the bottom of the plastic battery tray? The Eaton 1100 vents via the dipstick (the 700 vents via an oil reservoir atop the hydro). The “crook” end is hollow which I periodically ream out with a pipe cleaner, though I’ve never seen it clogged.

Finally got around to weighing wheels/tires after adding the RV antifreeze, wish I would have remembered to weigh them before adding . Figured it added at least 45/50 # to each side maybe a little more than that.

Tony that it’s great that she’s enjoying it. Sounds like she’s a real trooper. Any thing that gets her out of the house to enjoy what she’s doing. Think spring.

I think alot of mid engine machines had filled front tires. Back in the old days they used calcium, which is why most old RJs have rotted out front wheels.

Some of you may remember the sign I picked up at the auction a few weeks ago. After I got it straightened and cleaned up a bit, I decided to hang it on the Horse Barn. But the Wheel Horse lettering was overshadowed by the TORO name, so I knew I had to make the horse more dominant. So this is what I came up with. Was a fun little project.
