I had a sudden battery failure in a large busy parking lot on Friday, a little old lady and a young chick with a jump pack both stopped and offered help. The dudes in the Silverado and Ram diesel idling nearby avoided eye contact. I had help coming but it was interesting to see who the good “guys” were.

Got the cars covered, blower tractor and plow tractors in position, the little Toro 521 2-stage blower is ready and the truck is plugged in. Ready!

It's those small acts of kindness that make the most difference! Bet that guy never forgets. Imagine if everyone "pays it forward 3 times"

Today it was hard to believe that there’s a blizzard coming. I went down to the ocean to check it out. It was beautiful! Monday the seas are supposed to be 9-15’! As I looked to the east I noticed someone stuck and close to the water with an incoming tide. I walked back to my truck to get my binoculars and saw the guy digging out with a DOG BOWL! So I figured I’d do the right thing and grabbed the shovel and two tire pressure gauges out of my truck then walked about a quarter mile down the beach. Where I was parked you can’t just drive on. When I got to this gentleman he was super appreciative and really nice. We dug and dug and aired it down to 15psi. As we were almost done another guy walked down the beach with two of those plastic board boards with the nipples sticking up that are supposed to help you get unstuck. Apparently this guys wife saw this going on and called him to come lend a hand. We jammed them under the rear tires and he was out! The owner of the vehicle was very happy with our help and asked for my name and address. Three hours later two nice bottles of wine were delivered to my house from the local liquor store with a thank you note attached!

Nice day today so...

Used the 418 yesterday to remove 5'' of snow. Waiting on 9'' to 12 '' on the coastline starting tomorrow morning between 4 and 7 am. Try to get some more pics. I'll try to get in touch with this guy, just maybe he can lower the snowfall a bit , not sure though even he has a confused look on his face. When I hear the word heavy snow fall I know we are in for a workout. Oh well add the amount to the already tall snow piles. BE SAFE OUT THERE NOR' EASTER ON IT'S WAY ?????

I always liked this one, from @jachady. We haven't heard from him in several years, but he used to run a small garden tilling business with this tractor, maybe still does.

Go to a hockey game in Buffalo. You park for free at the University and ride the trolley/ subway to the arena for a few bucks round trip. Along the way you pick up fans for the opposing team and by the time you get to the arena ,it's like being in college again! We went a few years back when Toronto their big rival was there. Exciting game and the fans were nuts. Buffalo wins and we are leaving and I hear all this noise from another ramp. It was a mess of Toronto fans chanting and whooping it up. They got beat and you'd think they just won the Stanley Cup! The matinee games are the best. Game ends around 5 and you hit a pub or 2 on the way back to your car and the fans are still going crazy!

It depends on what kind of plow you have. A brinly hitch is best for field plowing.

It's fun (and useful) to use Photoshop and AI to try different paint schemes before actually investing the time/money/effort in a new paint job. Here's my New Holland in its current New Holland blue paint, which I like quite a bit, and don't plan to change: Here's a bright green version: Red-orange with flames: It doesn't look too bad in white: Black with chrome wheels would be a mean-looking machine: Bright yellow would stand out from a distance: Plaid, anyone? (you could do this with a vinyl wrap) Bright silver paint:

Told an experienced gentleman(I respect my elders and try to assume they know more things) he had a light out on his trailer. He said "F*&! you! That is a trigger for me. Almost 50 years old so I can effectively "duck butt" that brand of rudeness. 25 years ago that human would be in hospital, jaw wired shut. I would visit and feed jello through a straw though. Keep cool in this MAD world folks!

This tractor is what my original thought was for paint. I was going to do a bronze wheel or black.

Correct @Handy Don he pretty quickly admitted that he didn’t know what he was doing. I grew up driving on the beach, learning from some old timers and experience. Since high school (which is about two miles from where those pictures were taken) I have been towing and/or helping people off the beach.

Yesterday evening my daughter wanted to drive the fastest tractor I've got. I told her to take the Bronco for a spin. I think she's hooked!

The BBT has been ridiculous busy as usual. She started doing a second position for the hospital. Accounts Payable. This afternoon we moved the main backyard gate from "open out" to "open in". This makes it easier for us to move snow and also keeps the dog from the possibilities of pushing through the gate. Trina's also been busy for several days replacing the floor in her momma's kitchen. They didn't like the way the other (plastic fiber fake wood) things were laying down. She and her momma put down a 1 x 10 pine floor. Leftovers from the barn build. Polyurethane will be applied soon.

I've decided to run my engine out until it dies properly. The noise was definitely from the valve lashings, as I put it all back together last night, and the noise has gone away. Onan P220g engines are basically non-existant down here in Australia. Parts are impossible to find, or I'm paying more for freight from the US than I am for the part. That plus the engine configuration apparently does not like the hot weather down here. However, I don't want to let the beast die out forever. So I'm looking into engine swaps. There are few reasonably priced v twin engines, but for now I'm putting it into the "future project" bucket as I've sold the land I had bought it for, so I don't have much of a use for a mini-tractor at the moment. But it's been a fun little project taking it from and old gunked up machine that was tricky to start, and now it fires every time after a couple of cranks of the starter. Thank you to everyone for your wealth of knowledge, especially for @lynnmor. I can tell your very passionate about these machines.

Im no xpert on these Brinlys but do like the ideear of being able to off set plow from center of tractor.

Although Canada lost, I will say Sid the Kid is one of the best to hit the ice. I have got to watch him many times in the Burg. World Class. A big plus in hockey you don't have to deal with all the whining like the NFL.

It's a fairly easy sport to learn as a spectator (playing is a whole other thing...) The last couple minutes of a one-goal game with the goalie pulled can be the most exciting in all of sports IMO. I also think it's the best sport to go watch live.

I really don't know anything about Hockey but when my wife said it was on I decided to watch it. I came in just as the second period started. It looked to me, with my limited knowledge, that Canada outplayed The USA for the most part but USA had the heart and just kept finding a way. I thought it was going to be over when Canada had the 5-3 player advantage. Wow! I need to learn more about the sport.

One of the relief valves has failed or is jammed open Can't build up pressure beyond the 50-150 psi that feeds the charge pump. You get enough pressure for the charge pump to feed slippers and piston block, they drive the tractor but that pressure is not enough to run the lift it needs 550-750 I would guess it is one of the springs for the implement valve has broken...

Got this mostly finished and on display: Click the pic... The Peterbilt is mostly a kit. Testor's metal 1/28 scale. The cab guard and frame plates are added. Other things moved around. Sleeper removed. Black trailer also a kit from the same series. Wheels moved back. Landing gear moved forward. Otherwise box stock. The two Hess trucks are from the 1970s. Collector pieces.

This is the tractor that keeps popping up when I search for custom paint job.

@nylyon yup , ready , generator run , covered in calf hutch , blower set in garage , for initial , house to road opening , 50-60 mph winds , should make it interesting , we are are on a main road , usually regularly plowed , been here 45 years , my neighbor across road , is very good , we regularly open up for each other , just to get it going , plow / blow back , that alone is a major assist , others near me , have no clue , brain dead . ocean pizza last night , hamburger / bacon pizza , and clam strips , little house on the prairie , IDIDAROD PETE

Yepp. The Military Tribute Tractor is mentioned above. That red one is my 1975 C160 Automatic. Brighter red than OE Wheelhorse.

Exactly ... I been driving on frozen lakes here for fifty years .. dad & gramps alot longer and never had this problem. They just knew & guess I learned from the best.

Not an experienced beach driver. Close to the soft sand at the water eded and driving into a low spot where water has flowed farther up the beach.

Lots and lots of folks run chains and a fan without interference. There must be a way. IMHO, it is a poor bet that a cold ambient temperature will somehow offset not having a fan during a plowing/blowing session which has a lot of direction changes and forces the Eaton to work hard. It is no accident that WH added a transaxle high temp warning light to higher horsepower models.

Man, I envy you fellers that are in them target rich areas. We just don't get that many opportunities around here, especially on any S/G models. I did get lucky the other day on the 520h and 312-8 and the assortment of equipment. really couldn't afford all of them, but they would not separate. I just couldn't pass on it since it was just a 45min drive to pick up.

All perspective. There's an hour you learned something too. Learning what not to do is just as important as learning what to do. It ain't gonna take you an hour the next time!

Several things going on today. I got a coat of flat black on the trailer suspension of the tanker. On the Peterbilt I moved the bright chrome plate to the rear. Added the two silver ones. The cab guard will be setting on the front plate. That'll block off the former sleeper mounts from view. Been working on the matching trailer too. The axles and landing gear were in the wrong locations. The red pencil pointer shows the old places. I moved the axles back, relocated the mud flaps & rear bumper, painted the rear lamps. Also moved the landing gear forward to a more realistic place. The clamp with the white plastic was a couple base plates I made up so the landing gear would set flat in its new location.

Polished the hood and added decals thanks to redoyourhorse very very nice decals!
