Grabbed a few items on a pick yesterday. I was called out to plow, and it turned into a free score! The house was being sold on Friday. If I saw something I wanted, take it. Two loads hauled in the pickup, and one in the trailer. Jada and Mrs. P went picking in the house too. Cool stuff!

Well looks like I’m going to have to sell my cab and two stage blower and get a single stage tall chute! I was not aware I was in violation?!

I pondered and pondered as I looked at the rules list and just came to the conclusion that I'm simply a misfit. The closest I came is the round hood and plow. About 10 years on one of those but by the time I was 15 I had done graduated to a square hood and that's not even part of the proper progression. I did go from a shorty to a tall chute but I've never had a 520. Then I realized that I should just go and hide somewhere. I'm just not really a hydro fan. I tried with this one but it will be moving on to a new owner this spring.

My wife's favorite part of restoration season is when I bring my painted parts in the house to cure for a week or maybe two. This year it was soon enough to say that I decorated for Valentine's Day. Just look at all the pretty red & white knickknack's that we have on display.

Got warm enough to get some primer on the transmission, looks like enough warm weather next week to get some red sprayed.

For about 30 years I plowed the barn for my local Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Several times during bad snowstorms I would follow or even go ahead of the ambulance to help get them to the call. Plowing a driveway while the ambulance is waiting to get in the driveway can be a little stressful! During the worst storms I would just stay at the ambulance barn and plow the parking lot every 2” Once during one of those storms a call came in, one of the volunteers asked if I could go there ahead of them and gave me the address. It was one of my accounts!! It’s an old estate two miles from there and has a driveway 1/3 of a mile long. I got it open and just enough room to turn the ambulance around. It always felt good being able to be there to help make a difference. @953 nut I’m glad to hear that you’re doing better Richard 👍🏻

Round two of 953 nut’s medical mishaps is almost over. When I was discharged from the hospital a week and a half ago a new medication, Eliquis, was prescribed. We filled the prescription and headed home in anticipation of the impending snow storm. Having just undergone two surgeries I did not go to the shop and bring the 418-C with snow plow up to the house as I normally would have, we would just have to allow the snow to melt. Eliquis is a blood thinner and the entail dosage instructions from the doctor were double the normal dosage for the first five days. On the second day I began to feel a bit weak but didn’t give it much thought. At about 2:00 AM I felt very weak and threw up some BLACK stuff (that is a sign of internal bleeding) but being a MAN I shrugged it off and returned to bed. About 6:00 AM I had my wife call 911. Our steep, unplowed driveway was impassable and the EMTs and paramedics came up on foot lugging all of their equipment. One of the EMTs knew a fellow about a mile away who has a Kubota side-by-side 4 WD with locking differentials who responded to this early morning plea. The Kubota got me down to the ambulance and the took me directly to a medivac helicopter. Twenty minutes later I was at the trauma center and receiving transfusions. The Eliquis had triggered a previously undiagnosed ulcer in my small intestine to bleed. Less than an hour from my arrival at the trauma center I weas on the operating table, the ulcer was being clamped off as even more transfusions were being administered. Further testing revealed the blood vessel to the ulcer was also bleeding and a second procedure stopped that. After an additional week in the hospital I am now in a rehab center to regain some strength and glad to be alive.

That reminds me, the older you get the more important it is to not act your age!!

It's definitely a dandy. I purchased it about a year ago with I believe 100 hours and still some tags hanging on it. It was only used to push snow on a short driveway and never even had a belt on the pto until I put a deck on it last summer.

For all we know, she could have a couple of V8s being rebuilt in there and TOLD Dan he could have that little spot in the corner to play with his tractor stuff! LOL

Apparently she (semi) stood her ground and kept some of her knickknacks there too because I see more parts that didn't make it to the drying table!

So I says Dan we gonna paint on Saturday? ( I forgot it was V day) He says yep I had her move everything to Friday. WTF is he talking about? Oh he had her move her V day festivities to Friday so is he can paint! I say what festivities?? He obviously has not been married long enough.

It doesn't need to lift very high to transport it. Mine lifts about 2-3" off the ground. The adjustment for a 44" 2 stage is the metal plate with multiple location holes in it. The slot is at the bottom. The slot allows the blower to float with the terrain as it's moving so keep in mind he higher you make it lift, the less float down action it will have. Randy was referring to a single stage blower lift bar for washers. The 2 stage lift rod is much different.

There's a place about 5 miles from here called Baileys Discount Center. It's like a Big Lots on steroids and ya never know what you will find. Sometimes a great deal, sometimes a so-so deal and sometimes you wonder where the heck did they find that brand. Once in a while it's fun just to walk the isles to see what's there. I did just that this morning and wasn't really looking for anything. It was kinda ironic that, after this thread, they had these stacked on pallets. 4800, 7500 and 10000 watts at a very fair price. I had been thinking about one but never pulled the trigger but then they go and shove them in my face. I opted for the 7500w. I'll go ahead and hardwire it into the panel. The 3 milkhouse heaters were getting the job done but it was a pain making sure they were sitting in a safe spot (and on separate circuits). Gotta get right on it because the boss has me doing a pretty major facelift to the front entry/deck as soon as the weather breaks.

I'll second that. Finally got them to quit doing birthdays. Now it's a tractor bro's birthday he gets to pick a place and we just all go out to eat.

Yeah lotta times it might be an old coot like Richard who can't get out to plow even days after big snow. Post a note down to the senior center if someone's got problems... and unlike Richard stay away from the hot blue hairs ...

There fixed that ... Be real careful with that eli crap Richard. I was on it for a bit and told the doc I want off it. I'd go out in the shop and one little micro owie and would bleed like a stuck pig. Unreal .. I ran clean out of shop rags & black tape bandages. Doc says quit wrenching ... told him where to go. He didn't quite get it when I joked about getting the wrong red on a tractor. Good to hear your home again those gals down to the senior center were startin to complain...

Mine is the same. I have a 44” two stage on a 417-A. I’ve never really had the need to lift it higher, as long as it’s up a few inches for transport or backing up it has worked fine for me.

Honestly after all the 'dust settled' and the funeral was done, I found myself really needing to do something with my hands. I had just sold off a lot of my collection that previous fall, and I found I really needed to get back into restoring tractors and rebuilding engines. I really found it therapeutic to just get my mind into something else. I also knew my boy was looking over my shoulder the whole time, and still is! That's just something that worked for me.. All the best to you and your family!

We're kind of a big extended family here. Many of us share our good times as well as our bad.

Looks good. A tip for spraying - Run a chain through the hitch pin hole, & hang it up. This allows you access to the whole thing when painting.

Sounds like the ignition module getting hot and opening, but I'm only guessing from a distance. Don't let it frustrate you too much. We've all been through similar things with a newly acquired machine. I'm sure you'll figure it out. If you're anything like me, you may laugh at how simple it was once you find it.

They also have something in common with owning a cat: once you have one, others show up that you never saw before... Of course I've never chased away a stray Wheel Horse. That would be cruel and inhumane.

Good luck with your new to. Any issues with it lots of pros here. Lot of good info here on deuces not to mention 520s. I'll third that and when it is lifted it hangs to one side which I think they all do. I very seldom lift it when blowing just when heading to the barn.
