My widowed neighbor brought this sign into my shop about 3 weeks ago. Her special needs son had tried to restore it with a rattle can. She said she had a dream about the sign and my name came up. Would I like to paint it.? No way I can ruin a dream for a wonderful neighbor. So it became a project. I took the sign to a local cabinet / sign maker for advice on paints and clear coatings. In 2 minutes he had it on his screen. He made the sign in 1995. I thought about paying him to make a new one, but I knew my neighbor would prefer the old one. It had taken a 1/2" warp over the 30 years and I decided to not correct it, but added two ribs to keep it together. Used some soldering irons as wood burners to reestablish the outlines. Three coats of brown oil based enamel, three coats of gold water based acrylic, and the fourth and final coat of water based spar poly today.

This is my setup for at home flushing using a spare WH frame and an electric motor...

Moved the 2” receiver from the Workhorse to the 520-8.

I just took it for a test ride, no noises, building full boost and the AC is working. Front proximity is giving a fault, which makes complete sense since one was damaged. Drive straight, no vibrations so I think it’s road worthy. We’re about 65 miles from home and I think it will be fine until it can hit the body shop.

My guess is $6k, it’s a 2018 3500 Limited Mega Cab, HO Cummins with 53k on the clock, no way the insurance company is going to total this truck. Condenser is bent, but not leaking, intercooler was not touched.

Did a little clearing work behind the shed. Weeds and debris were taking over. Not sure what the plan is for this spot just yet.

Loaded up the crabbing gear. We leave for the Delaware Bay tomorrow for a week of crabbing, fishing, eating, and Relaxing.

Today I got the group out in the sun for Front End Friday. I worked some on the C-141 rerouting the gas line to make it start easier, which was a success. I also worked more on the C-85 getting it to the point where its easier to move around. I also started a bit of disassembly on the shaker motor mount as I'm going to set it up like the others. I also removed the PO added external idle handle.

I've had this deck maybe 8 yrs. Every year I take the mulching insert out to clean. Lots of grass powder gets trapped between the deck and insert. 2 years ago I coated the insert with Por 15. I think it's held up well. Here is all the grass that was between the deck and insert. Blade side. You can see how much grass gets under the wings Wire brushed both sides of the insert I used stainless steel bolts so they come off easier. Wire brushed both sides of the wings. Coated one side and will do the other side when it dries. Coated both sides of the insert I sprayed truck bedliner coating on the inside of the shell. It has held up well. The insert must protect the spindles some as there is no corrosion on the aluminum. Shell cleaned. I will coat around the spindle area of the shell as there is some minor pitting. I also will coat the edges. More to come once things dry.

You can also mount a rear view camera to the back of the trailer. Power it from one of the running lights and drive with your parking or headlamps on to supply it. i put one of THESE on the back of our pre-backup camera car that my daughter drives (powered by the backup lights so it only runs when the car is in reverse). I liked it so much I put another on the back of my boat that I use as a rear view camera when towing. The signal easily makes it from the rear of my 18’ boat to the dashboard of the truck. Works really well day and night. I steal power from the boat cranking battery, but it’s commonplace to use the trailer running lamps. My boat is wide and big enough that it hides anything directly behind me and this makes me feel better that I can fill in the gap. They apparently don’t make the exact model that I bought anymore, but there are a lot of options. Mine have been out in the weather for a couple of years now and still work like new. There may be some legal reason that might require extended mirrors, but this is a great supplement. Steve

In 1959 I drove the 50 mile to the nearest driver test police station in the vehicle I had been driving for 5 years. It was a '36 Dodge Pick up that resembled this one. The Pa State policeman opened the passengers door, looked in and started writing on his clip board. He handed me the report that said I needed to fix the holes in the floorboards, replace two bald tires. replace the seat that had springs exposed, and have it inspected before I came back. luckily he did let me drive it home where we made it a "Farm Truck".

Front proximity sensors. I remember when we drove 65 Fleetwood Brougham's , Buick Duce and a Quarter's and Lincoln Continentals and had to parallel park them for our road test!

In fifty years I have hit three deer. Usually about 50 to 55 MPH like Nylon.. Each time front bumper. Each time about $1500 to $2500 to replace/repair. I was always pleased they did not get bounce up on the hood and go through the windshield as I know it use to be a terrible death scene in Michigan and Wisconsin in the old days when those razor sharp hooves of the deer failed though the windshield. I always consider myself lucky when I bust up the front end when hitting a deer -as compared to the alternative.

No way ... I have had grilled venison a lot worse than that and insurance paid to fix it. Wife's Prius was 14K and they fixed it. I'm gonna say Coaches' is 4275. Not bad for a newer 70k + truck. Body shops here live on deer damage.

Must be talking about that 1257 I sold you Squirrel ... I just got used to it and never did figure out if it did damage to anything if you forgot to turn it back. I don't think it did as caught my self a few times forgetting to do it on the plow field. I thought they were roll crimped on and would imagine a bugger to get apart and worse to put back together. Yes as long as they are available yet could always try it. Can't really wreck it. I have taken a few others apart for $h1ts & grins but then round filed it and got a new one. Inquiring minds want to know ...

Yes, she's been nose high overnight, so should be drained pretty well and will do same after running medic through it. It was way over filled but guessing most was water. Might not leak around brake drum so bad after I get correct level of oil back in it .

We're planning on picking up the camper this morning. I was surprised to find that there are NO extendable/extended/wide mirrors available for the '09 - '15 Pilots. There's a ton of em on the road... Ahh well. Clamp-on mirrors can be a PITA but that's the only option. So I did some research and found the "least disliked" set. Got these yesterday. They do look pretty good... for what they are. I'm thinking some carefully placed zip ties could help hold them in place if/when they work loose.

That would be me. I don't remember how I chose it but I do know why. I absolutely hate everything there is about the diesel fuel smell. I even try to avoid pulling up to a gas pump that has a diesel nozzle because it likely will have been spilled on the pavement by the pump. Here's the latest 5060 transmission after flushing. I don't have any before pictures because I don't open them before flushing but I've had some pretty cruddy oil drained out. Every transmission I've used it on has looked like this. But again, I just don't know how bad they were before I started other than the looks of the oil. Obviously I start by draining the old stuff out. I use a chain hoist to lift it and will have it pretty much vertical to make sure it's drained good on the front side of the center hump. I let it sit overnight or longer. In goes two quarts of Motor Medic. Because it's on the bench I use a drill to spin the transmission. A piece of tubing sized for the input shaft clamped on and whatever size socket for the drill end. Go through all the gears forward and back. Again it sits a while soaking with an occasional spinning. Then it's drain and strain back into the bottles waiting for the next one. One thing about bench spinning is that I can run all the gears in both direction. Does that matter? I have no clue. Edit..............I've only used this stuff in Wheel Horse transmissions. Any other use is at your discretion and I'm thinking DON'T POST PICTURES.

Did you raise the front about a foot to allow all the gear oil inside get out over the hump inside?? If not, old oil remains to get mixed with the new...

Mark the shifter where the top edge of the boot normally lives when installed. Then slide the boot up the shifter and lay a bead of grease right on that line. Slide the boot back down and will fill the seal part to the shifter with grease plus leave a bead of grease sealing the underside of the boot. Just kinda throwing this out there in the thread for info purposes

The shifter acts like a wick and rainwater runs down between the boot & shifter, into the Unidrive. You need to flush the trans - Diesel fuel or kerosene works well. You probably need to do it twice. Search the Forum for past threads - good info. Lift the front axle about a foot off the ground to allow all the nasty fluid inside to drain.

While you're in there, replace that shifter set screw that's known for breaking. And speaking of brakes, you need a seal behind that drum.

I’ve repaired cracks and missing chunks on some of the older wheels. I’ve used JBWeld or PC7 epoxy. The PC7 epoxy is a little thicker and runs less. I spray black spray paint in the epoxy as I mix it. You can use vinyl gloves wetted with water to shape the epoxy. I use a file to shape the epoxy, then finish with sand paper.

By volume, standard or low sulfur diesel (i.e. not bio) has 12-15% higher energy density than E10 gas, 10-13% higher than pure gas. This doesn’t correlate directly to per-mile costs, though, because of many other factors.

Started an overnight drain on a 856 I had gotten at the big show. Cleaned and rebuilt carb, reset points and runs great now. Looks like new boot will be needed.

I have a couple that the return spring is bad on. I have just gotten in the habit of if I feel a Cole Hersee key in my fingers, I return the switch to the run position. I should just start replacing them but like @WHX?? always says "Got a lot of mouths to feed here"

It's more because of all the other gears. The differential gear is probably about the slowest gear in there. Think tire rotation.
