The boys and I picked up our new going to project yesterday. They were both quickly to claim which one they wanted! Both seam to be all there and pretty original. Looking forward to bringing back the old paint on the 1966 Lawn Ranger and some fresh red on the A-111 which is a 1982. Can’t wait to spend some time working with the two and teaching them like my dad did and dose with me!

I bought my Wheel Horse 312-8 nearly a year ago at this point. I bought it primarily as a firewood tractor, for moving wood to and from the splitting station, racks, and house. I figured I'd find other uses for it but wasn't sure what! Well it's been coming in real handy this summer. With a hitch installed and a cargo carrier on the rear, this thing has been indispensable for my latest project: rebuilding a retaining wall. Over 100 blocks and dozens of bags of paver base and gravel. Of course the closest place I could have the supply delivery dropped off is about 50 yards from the project site. The Wheel Horse has made it easy to load blocks and gravel back and forth! Such a godsend

Quick tip to fully lubricate your throttle or choke cables. Remove the cable from the engine side. Stick a ¼” vacuum hose over the end of the cable. Using some sort of a syringe which fits on the vacuum line, inject oil or grease into the cable. I used marine gear oil to help with potential water intrusion. Gently squeeze the oil into the cable until it comes out the other end. Work the cable back and forth and viola, cable is fully lubricated.

Picked up a couple of 314's with some extras today in a package deal The one with the bagger is going to be my SIL's for her smaller yard and I think she'll be happy with it. I need give it some it some maintenance items and lots of grease and lubricant. Basically she'll get all the best stuff in the package and I'll have the leftovers for pickup and I'll be maintaining it when I do mine each year. There are 2 sets of chrome hubcaps, one set rough with some dents and lots of rust. and other set is nice. Lots of light scratches, but They will shine when cleaned up. It has about 400 hrs. Deck is very nice and solid. Both were from original owners and got to chat with the gentleman for over an hour even though i was in for a long trip back home. Such nice guy to deal with. I was able to get some original papers as well! Even came with a new iSaveTractors carb. Not sure exactly what I'm doing with the other one yet... it runs very good despite higher hours.

Front tire on the C-85 goes flat, hoped for a valve stem issue but nope, it’s leaking thru the sidewall so it’ll need a tube. No tubes in stock here so I moved to wheel cleaning. Although the front wheels appear clean in the picture the insides were filthy! They cleaned up nice

We love a good joke, and the fact that a president of the United States has made it makes the joke even funnier; that’s why Presidential Joke Day on August 11 is one of our favorite special events to celebrate. This day is meant to highlight the humor coming out of the highest office in our land. We take a look at the jokes — intentional and unintentional, made by current and former presidents, and commemorate a holiday that recognizes the fact that presidents have a sense of humor too. George Washington was a strong political leader, but his sense of humor shone in many instances. Take the names of his dogs for instance. He named them Tipsy, Mopsey, Ragman, Truelove, and Vulcan. His letters — even during the worst days of the Revolutionary War, are peppered with funny quips and jokes. America’s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln was another famous leader with a humorous streak. This facet of his personality was so widely known, that his opponents wrote a song about it called, ‘Hey! Uncle Abe, are You Joking Yet?’ Former President Barack Obama also famously never missed a chance at cracking a joke, even at formal events like the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. He stated that he saved his worst jokes for the Presidential Turkey Ceremony, delivering what he said was a “corny-copia of dad jokes about turkeys.”

I posted a 'what's in my mirror' shot yesterday and here it is. A super nice 400. No, it doesn't belong to me. I met up with @stvski80085 a few weeks ago in Crawfordville when he latched on to my tub cart. He mentioned he wanted a mid engine oldie. There's a place a few miles south of here called Random Crap. Everything is behind the house. Sheds, trailers, etc. filled with......random crap and constantly changing. I had been wanting to stop by but every time I passed it I didn't have the time or they were closed. Their open hours seem to be......random. A few weeks ago the stars aligned and I pulled in. I'm thinking I got a grin when I saw 4 red tractors lined up. A Lawn Ranger, a mid 60's round hood, a B-80 and this Suburban 400. Of course I had to look them over and the conversation was lengthy. Steve came to mind so I told him about it. It wasn't long before he became the new owner. He lives in Missouri so I'll babysit until we can get together. Paperwork came with it including the original receipt from 1960. Cool! The original (supposedly) engine was included. Somebody apparently rebuilt it but screwed it up. It was replaced with a NOS K-91 with almost no hours. Along with a box of parts. Fresh snow/dirt blade and mower deck. 7 new blade tips are in the parts box. All the guards are in place. Note the tires, shower cap muffler and rear hitch. Is this a Fairbanks? I couldn't resist taking it to my personal favorite picture setting at the north end of our property. You guys have seen this setting many times. I'm thinking Steve will be happy with it.

Took the doggy for an about 30 min walk around the property then gave her a water break in grandpas garage. When re stocking the stand this morning I found I weird squash in the garden. I called it exotic! Sold some stuff at the farm stand, Rototiled the garden, and bled the brakes on my quad.

It’s been a productive afternoon. After work, I started to look into getting the hour meter working that came with my K321 on the C -141. I’m going to need some more parts. So I stripped and painted the light/ignition/ gauge cluster the same black as the shift plate. Then I took it for an extended spin to test it and popped off both outer clips for the front wheels. After fixing that, I decided to scuff it up, I washed it, and ended up painting the wheels gloss white. The front inner wheels, and the left inner rear wheel need paint. That’s a tomorrow morning / later in the week job…

Today we went out to the very end of Long Island, to Montauk. The sport fishing capital of the world, some say it was the inspiration for the movie Jaws. We had lunch at a nice restaurant at the inlet to Montauk harbor watching the pleasure and commercial fishing boats come and go. I’m sure most of you know the Billy Joel song Downeaster Alexa. The boat in the last two pictures is that boat, the “Alexa” it’s actually his own boat. It’s docked a few towns to the east in Sag Harbor. I didn’t realize that was it until it was well past us. Quite possible it was him running the boat because he is known to captain his own vessel. Way off on the horizon is the Connecticut shoreline.

I got my Dad an old Allis B and needed to make a swivel seat. Found a desk chair swivel base and mounted a seat to it. I drilled a couple of holes in the halves and attached a pin on a chain and slipped the pin in the holes to lock it. Made a step on the hitch bar and he got on and off from the rear.

Trina's 867 Pigpen and my Tecumsehorse are both in the new workshop space for engine swaps. The 867 will be a Kohler 8 HP direct swap. My tractor will be a fair amount more complicated. The OHV160 will be changed to a Briggs Vanguard 20 HP V twin engine.

i’ve had this one for a few years, I picked it up in a fall show at Zagray show in October. It is a 1057 I have not been in a hurry to finish it because it’s pretty much original from what I’ve seen. Yes it has a lot of scratches on it, as the old timers used to say it’s only original once. Gotta finish the Valves. Do the points and then finishing the rest of it. Should be good to go. I use those 612s when I’m working on a project they don’t take up much room plus I still like those 612s. Hope you enjoy your projects. The last three is the day I picked it up. Enjoy all your projects.

Started the investigation into the C175 to see what’s causing the front plug to get fouled with carbon. Intake valve has some buildup. Not as bad as I expected.

Yeah, probably best to keep all that linkage higher so it can't get caught on something like a rock and stop the tractor. But having them connected like this would add more mechanical leverage force to the bake

Despite the heat today I mowed. Then I decided to give the 654 a much overdue cleaning along with a mid-season service. Greased everything & sharpened mower blades. No oil consumed so none needed to be added. Looks good from 10ft away. Someone at one time painted it wrong color red & right over all the patina/rust. Its definitely an excellent working tractor.

Definitely, I hope it’s not just electric as that might be a problem in the more remote areas. Especially in Northern Maine. Not to mention the range and capability limitations. But on a positive note, you won’t have to mortgage your house to afford it.

Yup....What EB said. The muffler is a "cheap" muffler off of Amazon that said it fit Cub Cadet and Kohler singles. The exhaust piping is hardware store black pipe. If memory serves.....a threaded nipple, 45 elbow, and short cut off section of pipe. I think it looks a little dopey, but it sounds fine and is out of the way. It will never be show queen and it serves its purpose, so its a winner in my book

Yes @ebinmaine you're right about the extras.... Also, Eric There are a couple extra carb etc. I'll pm you. I think have some extra carb stuff to send you! Cory

I take a slightly different approach. I remove the cable assembly and place it vertically in the vise with the knob end up and pulled. Drip the MMO down the inner cable, and place a paper towel on the floor under it. Repeat several times until the oil migrates thru and the spot appears on the towel.

Good point there Pete - there is only about one square inch of contact from the hitch onto the casting - do the math..... I made mine out of Delrin, mostly to adjust the downward tilt of the flat bar upward, and spread the load over a greater area. I do recall seeing a member's post about the forward end of the hitch cracking and puncturing the Unidrive housing....

You'd want the type that has the offset hub. Meaning, the hub on one side is out flush with the edge of the tire, and then you'd still most likely have to use washers to bring the wheel out far enough it won't rub on the shell of the deck. Just get the same diameter wheel. I went that route at one time, "in a pinch" the bearings don't hold up well and there's not an easy way to keep them greased.

We slept in. Once we got moving, we went down to the lake house, mixed a couple bloody Marys, and fired up the Blackstone to cook a breakfast scramble out on the deck. Bulk sausage, onions, garden cherry tomatoes, hash browns, and eggs. Salt, pepper, horseradish, ground cumin, cumin seed, and diced jalapeños were used for seasoning. Oh, I also did some raking in the back yard and replaced the furnace filter so I can say I did something useful today.

Yeah I made the build then just posted a few things on the other and then people were asking questions I posted that I had done a build tread in the beginning but I guess that didn't make it to far as to people still asking out on the other group not on the build page. Sorry for the miss information. The tractor runs great it has enough power for me in the seat and two kids on the bed and still pull a hill. The trans shifts nice if I did have the tourqe convertor which creates slip I don't think it would work. It is just like a four wheeler tourqe and trans setup Top speed is pretty quick in the field. I still can't stop so my son hasn't driven it yet I need to either adjust the brake or ditch it for twin hydraulic disc brake setup.

More reference pics. The sheave for the PTO could move back a hair and actually might track even better that way. The total crankshaft length on the Command, according to the data sheet is about 1/4" shorter than the HH100, but I'm thinking that might actually be fine. Excited for the mockup of the engine soon. All the calcs and measurements check out, physical placement is the next step.

I prefer the .380 over the 9mm. Same bullet, different powder load. 9mm is prone to over-penetration, .380 is not, and neither is going to pierce body armor.

I harvested just over 6 dozen ears out of this patch yesterday. Which amazed me with all the problems I had with germination this year I believe was due to the cooler spring. Processed 5 dozen and put 1 dozen in the refrigerator to eat during the week. I also noted that this was the first year that I can remember where I didn't have at least 1 worm found in the corn as I was processing it. It may be due to the little workers sticking around this year.

So I can't stop haha I'm going to mess around with the brake adjustment. If this manual brake doesn't work I'm ditching it and going to hydraulic Next year we are planning to go down to the big show it's like 2 hours away. We have never been there before. Is there camping on site or does everyone hotel it. When is the show so I can make plans for it already

Getting ready for a fishing trip - one problem I always face is finding a level spot for my Banjo burner. The fact that it has a circular base makes it hard to get level and be sturdy at the same time. If it's not perfectly level the oil in my 15" iron skillet runs to one side. So, while I had my welder out, I decided to remedy that problem.

I did not succeed in getting the steering wheel off today. Letting it soak again. I even took a socket and put it on the steel center part of the steering wheel and hit it a bunch of times with a 2 pound sledge just to try to loosen it up and make it move and it didn't budge. I will probably try one more time later and if that doesn't work I will cut the shaft and take it over to my neighbors pretty sure he has a hydraulic press. What I was doing in this picture was putting that punch on the shaft under the wheel and balancing it while hitting the metal part of the steering wheel down with another punch. I did get the seat springs cut off those cross plates that got welded to them. And cut off the PTO bracket from the steering tower I was thinking about maybe repairing it but might be easier to get one somewhere. And then I repaired the steering tower Left the welds a little high on the bottom just to reinforce it a little more. I will probably have to end up drilling the threads out as well and just using a washer and nut

Technically this is not a non tractor related discussion haha I have watched a bit of their stuff before, but not consistent viewer at all. But this is awesome!! Insane amount of work but a incredible result. Makes working on our Wheelhorse's look easy.

Got some parts in the mail new brake drum as you can tell in the photos the old one is trashed. Interestingly enough the new one is supposedly from a 93 520H same part number. And a sleeve hitch cross piece needs a weld but that's not a problem.

Got my work area cleaned up naturally I forgot to take a before photo. But I added in a post for roof support that needed put in. And removed 4 other posts that weren't structural, this was used for cattle at one point and the posts were for a chute. With boards nailed to them of course. It really opened up the usable space removing those posts. Probably going to pull the tractor out and power wash it before taking it apart. Not sure if I will start that this week or not supposed to get pretty hot
