14 pointsSo I left this morning with one horse, and one wagon, and a shopping list of small parts. I went down to the show, brought the wife along to keep me from buying another tractor. Came home looking like @Pullstart packed me for an overnight trip or something: Found most of the parts I was after, I think the rest of what I tried to round up is not as needed as I originally thought. But I had been looking for a second unit that would work with the attachments I already have, and the wife wanted a bigger yard cart. I found the big one that standing on end in the trailer right behind where I parked my tractor to walk around, and got a smoking deal on it. Then the boy found a Commando 8, running, driving, mowing, with a deck, for a decent price and the wife, who was supposed to keep me from buying tractors, OK'd the purchase. I had a good time though. I got to see some nice tractors, talked to @Pullstart about farms, talked to @Ed Kennellabout dogs, talked to @76c12091520h Brian about houses, and talked to almost nobody about tractors.

6 pointsAdded some string lights today. I might add some crisscross later, but it's not that cheap to get the length of string lights I am getting haha.

5 pointsSo grateful to be at the Big Show today! With the rain and catching up with so many awesome friends we don’t take many pictures and will share them here! It is great to see all the pictures that were shared already! Thank you Steve for setting up this post for pictures!

4 pointsWhat did I do with my Wheel Horse today? I poured 2 fingers of my Rye variety Wheel Horse over ice, added some lime juice, and poured in some Diet Coke. Picked it up and sipped a toast to those at the Big Show that they have a good time, make some good deals, and have safe travels. With any luck, one of these 'next years', I'll make it there myself.
-
4 pointsGood to see you today. I didn't buy any new tractors, but I did get everything I hoped to buy. Instead of $50 plus for each of those pulleys, I got both for $10! Good deals on the rest, too. Thanks, @stevebo for hauling that plow down for me, @danjmah for the bracket & weights, @Ed Kennell for the crankcase breather tube, & @Pullstart for getting that danged rear & wheels out of my shop! 😉 I know there were other folks from Red Square I bumped into, including the brothers in the white Chevy shirts and the 2 guys in last year's show shirts who stayed at the Comfort Inn, but we didn't talk. I'm disappointed I didn't get to meet and talk with members last evening, but c'est la vis!

3 pointsHad a great time at the show today and walked away with some really nice goodies! Got a 48” blade with the extension brackets for the 520 a nice 44” two stage blower (didn’t really need but too good a deal to pass up lol) and a tub cart that the wife wanted to use for the garden. Definitely didn’t plan on buying much or I woulda brought my 8ft bed truck but it made the 3 hour ride home good despite the haphazard strap job.

3 pointsLooks to me like that head casting has a bit of porosity. It might not sand out. I'll agree with the others - probably good to run. If it were mine, I'd use a new head gasket. Might think about using Copper Coat on the gasket as well

2 pointsThe old Kohler gasket with the fire ring has been replaced by a graphite coated one. I think the Stens gasket is still the metal wafer.
-
2 pointsIt was good to see you too. I'm hoping that as I get more time and get my tractors in better order the show becomes less of a scavenger hunt and more of a social event.
-
2 pointsI'm pretty sure if I'd gone without her, and bought the things I did that bigger wagon would have fallen out of the trailer on the way home. She's the one who engineered the straps to keep it in place. Of course I could have always gone and asked Kevin to help me get loaded. He seems to be pretty good at that.
-
2 pointsI don't know that I can say. I have been using Stens mostly. I think the most recently replaced on was a "Garden Buddy". It looks to be about the same as the Stens, price was within a dollar. I think the biggest difference when I bought was how fast I could have it. I'm not sure I ever used a Rotory brand one.

2 pointsI think older ones did. I have not been able to source one with a ring in the 6 years I've owned my WH. Not sure where @Achto is. I saw @WHX??sitting on his butt with @squonkand @953 nut this morning in Biglerville. He weren't particularly close to the computer at that time. That was me. Never did find one.

2 pointsPicked up this Magnum and finally got it cleaned up! Sat on a Ford LGT 14 frame outside for who knows how long!

2 pointsOr w section sign post works great and lines up the shaft pretty much where it needs to go... I've done two that way...
-
2 pointsI’ve used the kit you show. I’ve found that far end bushing has very little wear, so I’ve not replaced it on several future project ones I’ve rebuilt.
-
2 pointsSome you been sanding awhile, that spot had a little depth. Yes manual says .003 feeler gage. You have a lot of good smooth contact area around it. If a .001 won't go under it I’d would run it.
-
2 pointsManual might say something like .003 or less? I don't see why you shouldn't be able to just run that on some 400 paper for a little while and smooth it out. Then reinstall.

2 pointsI picked up a 520h roller from Joe. It has no motor but gear reduction steering complete. I propose a “deal”… I only want the gear reduction set up and all steering components. If anyone is willing to do the work to take these off at the show including getting that roll pin out of the steering wheel they can have the rest of the machine free. The other deal I propose is selling outright for 325 to get my money back. I do not believe I will have room to haul it back as my boy picked up a few more project machines here than expected. I will post come pics later.

1 pointYesterday I installed the new regulator on my 416-H and am happy to report that all is as it should be. I now have a working charging system, putting out about 14.5 volts at 1/2 throttle and above. I left the additional ground wire in place with the new regulator as well, figuring it can only help. Thanks again for all the help with this issue. David
