8 pointsAttended the Evansville Indiana Southern Indiana Antique Machinery Club Show this past weekend. This poor 702 was on a trailer for sale the whole weekend. I decided to pull the trigger and use it for my next YouTube series. Hope I can bring it back to life and not get parted out. Haven't really looked at it much as I'm waiting to reveal most of the tractor on the first video. My buddy Zach helped drag it back to the trailer YouTube Short Teaser Video

6 pointsNational Apple Strudel Day on June 17 has given us an excuse to indulge ourselves with the sweet treat. Apple strudel is a Viennese dessert made from thinly rolled out dough sheets, apples, sugar, and an assortment of spices. The world-famous dish is enjoyed as both a breakfast item as well as a dessert at night. It is also paired with coffee and tea for evening snack time. It can be accompanied by a generous dollop of whipping cream or a dusting of icing sugar/cinnamon. While ‘Apfelstrudel,’ as it is called in Austrian, is a sweet dish, it can also be savory when the apple is replaced with spinach, cabbage, or other vegetables and herbs. The word ‘strudel’ comes from German, and it means whirlpool or an eddy.

5 pointsPost up all your loaded up and ready to roll photos here! I will start off. I am hauling the new toy hauler and my son will be following with the open trailer. See you all at the show. Safe travels!
-
5 pointsMike - I for one find it way easier to move trailers with a front mounted hitch. I use it on the C81; made it out of an old mule drive idler and a HFT ATV hitch that cost 11 bucks... Problem solved (unless he has a Round Hood without the Tach-a-matic)

5 pointsWith the BIG SHOW coming up and family coming into town Sunday for my wife's birthday I took a swing at the "Honey-do-list." The list was too long to accomplish in a couple of days so I asked my wife to prioritize the tasks she hoped to have done. I managed to complete tasks 1, 3, 5, and 7 today. She asked why I hadn't done jobs 2, 4, and 6 I told her I only do ODD JOBS! Looking forward to seeing everybody at the show.

4 pointsHere is the new to me 1975 Simplicity 7016 I did some trading with my neighbor. It was his Dad's who passed away last year who was our neighbor as well, that we were pretty close to for the amount of time we lived here. So it has some sentimental value as well. Especially for his son who lives there now, knowing it's being taken care and close by. It has the tiller, a front blade, and a deck which probably to far gone to save. Also some wheel weights I did wash it before the photos. The sticker is not right I did check the model number on the tractor and it is a 7016. I did check the bevel gearbox and it doesn't have to much slop it's still within acceptable range. After checking this tractor out I can really appreciate the simplicity of the Wheelhorse tractors (pun not intended haha) That said I do love the look of the tractor with this particular hood and the light pods on the side.

4 pointsI was just wondering how many other Work Horses will be coming to the show. I’m really hoping that we can make a good showing. Being the very proud original owner of my GT-1800 I am happy that the Work Horse has been chosen for this year. I think I heard something about the guy on the left being there as well 😂 I’m looking forward to seeing everyone!

3 pointsMrs 8n and I had skin cancer screenings with the dermatologist today. Both came out with a clean report. I'll repeat in about a year, Mrs 8n in 2 years. Remember, don't be shy. A bit of exhibitionism sure beats a fight with skin cancer.

3 pointsI've made a couple of trips to Germany. There, i discovered kanderi (SP?) - shops that serve coffee and pasteries. Wonderful places to obtain fresh apple strudel and coffee. There was one near the Munich cathedral. Was a rainy day and we were waiting for the rest of our group to gather. I remember standing next to the cathedral wall and discovering that one of the gargoyles was drooling on me.

3 pointsNo all hitches must be removed for a tiller. Except of course the axle bracket. Not terrible unless the trailer has a very heavy tongue weight.

3 pointsYou've found the friendliest GT forum around. Lot's of help and some kidding go on around here. Wow, I grew up in La Grange (45 miles away) and never heard of a WH back in those years. Those were the C1x1 and the C Black Hood years. I have a “few” projects, mostly gear drive stored in a barn down there. I'd offer to show them to you. But with the semi scarcity of Wheel Horses around here, I couldn't let you leave alive once you saw where my barn is Anything in particular your looking for. Any chance you have a pile of NOS parts from your dealer years? Did you have a dealer decal you put on the tractors you sold? Any chance you have a picture of it?

3 pointsTonight, I opened up the remaining throttle slot for the C-141 and test installed both choke and throttle. I may need to drill out the throttle lever pivot to flip it as it’s backwards from normal now.

3 pointsAlways figured that a flail mower on the front of the tractor would be more useful than a sickle mower. Specially if you have tall grass with unknown's hiding with in it. I have seen some on the front of garden tractors but have never really seen any for sale. The right sized one should be easily adaptable to a . One example of one. They seem to give a good looking rough cut.

2 pointsMore done today. Painted the seat bracket today. Also got in the skateboard tape and seat in today. And the best part is! The holes line up perfectly in the universal seat with the wheelhorse seat springs!

2 pointsToday's forecast from Tom Russell and CBS-21: Flood warnings tonight into tomorrow morning, heavy storms possible through lunch, clearing around mid-day. 90 and humid for Thursday, cooler, breezy, high around 80 for Friday.

2 pointsIM SO GLAD YOU GOT THIS TRACTOR.....MUCH BETTER THAN SITTING UNDER A PINE TREE FOR 15 YEARS !!!!
-
2 pointsI hardly notice the difference in the steering effort. But - I usually just pull the trailer out in a straight line, cut the grass in that area with the 854 and push the trailer straight back. There are times I have moved it onto the driveway - steers well. And - I am terrible backing up a trailer with a short wheelbase tractor using the rear hitch!!

2 pointsBeing a hydro drive you would think the implement lift would have been hydro also.
-
2 pointsI've seen many homemade trailers and carts. As long as it's not promoting another brand. Not sure these are all Wheel Horse.
-
2 pointsI don’t make the rules, but I would think as long as the trailer is attached to a WH it’s fine.
-
2 pointsI've always wanted a flail mower attachment. Mounted front or towed would be fine. A sickle bar cuts very well, but leaves the full height of the material cut left behind. This is good for tedding and bailing hay, but not for clearing brush. A flail mower pulverizes whatever is cut, and is less likely to be damaged by obstacles. It is a true clear cut machine.

2 pointsThis is our weekend!! If there isnt a Briggs between the fenders of your Work Horse it doesnt count! See you guys Thursday!! Tony 20250616_100853.mp4

1 point@Joe M Update on my update that I quoted above from last Friday. I just spoke to the owner of the place we bought the trailer. He is also the Install Tech for accessories like the recessed d-rings I want to install. He does NOT drill a large hole 🕳 all the way through the deck. He uses a hole saw or a special bit to create a pocket which leaves nearly half the depth of the wood complete in structure. He also differs from etrailer in that he requires that two of the four holes which retain the holder to the trailer have their bolts going through holes drilled in the angle iron frame. Etrailer recommended adding brackets or tabs via welding. I understand the logic in that because they can't tell people to drill holes in a trailer frame they did not own or sell. In this particular case I think I will default to what the seller of the trailer advises to do.

1 pointThe wheelhorse's aren't going anywhere that's for sure. Definitely if you get a lot of mud on your shoes as well. I guess I did forget to mention the tractor is non-running right now. Ran when parked though, and it was stored inside so I don't anticipate much other then old gas/carb and battery.

1 pointi agree with you bill that a front mount hitch might be better for moving trailers. with the added tongue weight up front is it hard to steer? i will discuss this option with the young man. thank you mike

1 pointFrame cleaned on the 782 and engine is finally bolted down. Driveshaft shortening is going to require a shop because I am not entirely confident in my skills enough to cut and weld it myself.

1 pointSame here. When I fill up my cans the first couple of gallons go in the car. This flushes any ethanol out of the pipes.

1 pointQuite a busy weekend. Saturday we hiked Green Mountain for a calorie burning and to see how my fitness is going. Considering I haven't done any hiking of moderate size I did well. That's very encouraging. This is the fire tower at the top. This junco was at the base of the tower collecting grass for a nest. Zoom in and you'll find it looks like it has a mustache. Sunday I spent most of the day in the workshop. Our electrician friend is scheduled to be here the 21st. I knew we had some wire to be fastened up. Trina knew we had to make a list of needed parts. Both done. Trina was of course outside doing everything she could to stay out from under a roof as usual. They moved the remaining loam and cow manure from up by the barn to beside the garden. That was probably 10 trips. Covered the crap pile for next year's use. While she and the Momma were out playing in the 🐄 🐮 💩 I hung this heater so it can be hard wired. I also swapped the type of door lock/latch we use on the new workshop space. We were using a standard hasp. That obviously wasn't able to be opened from the inside when locked. We both found that unacceptable for convenience and safety. I changed to a Yardlock Shed Lock. Basically a screen door handle inside with a wire that feeds through the door to the exterior lock. If you're outside, it opens with a combination and stays unlocked but latchable. If you're inside just push the tab like any door latch and the door opens whether it's locked or not. Seems to be quite a good design.

1 pointI have an R-12 machine. I know. I deal with the stuff at work and I hate it. I especially hate the machine, so many bells, and whistles, and sensors, and when it breaks I'm usually the only one who has a clue what to do about it. It never acts up unless we have two or three techs, and at least one customer, waiting on it, and then the service manager wants to call the repair guy to come fix it, but he is a week or more out. I keep telling him to just keep a filter and O2 sensor in stock because 9/10 times that fixes it, but the kit is too expensive so he won't buy them until it actually needs it.
