I'll add painting and drying parts by the wood stove in December and shrinking shafts in the freezer to that list of ways to raise a wifeys temp. Oh, and tanning a bear hide in her bath tub really reached the boiling point. That one cost me a $10K bathroom remodeling job.

This is part of a collection that belongs to my friend and his son. They are a hard working farming family that has been very successful. I mean these people work nonstop, whatever they have they deserve. I’m not sure how many they have but I know this is not the whole collection. Then they have the tractors that they work with. 99% of them are IH’s too. I think they have around fifty in total. Today I was driving down the road and came across this at one of his locations. Immediately I pulled over and took pictures, to the best of my knowledge this is the first time they have put some out for display. After taking pictures I called him to say thanks for putting them out, it made me happy!! Of course he didn’t answer the phone, probably because he was working! Hope you guys enjoy……..

Today I broke my own rule. The rule was to not get or be remotely interested in the "riding mower" versions of the Wheel Horse. I've only ever been attracted to the garden tractor variety of the Horse. Well this little one fell into my hands and I figured I'd tinker with it. Had it running within 10 minutes. It needs a new starter solenoid and shutoff valve/grommet on the fuel tank. I putted around the yard checking all the gears and to my surprise it even has an electric pto... ooooo fancy huh ? Model 210-5 with a 30 inch mower deck actually cuts pretty nice. The hub caps are probably worth more than the machine itself. Might have to keep this baby horse around. Our annual tractor party and parade is coming up mid July so this can be an extra seat for whoever wants to go for a ride while we travel the neighborhood. Lots of people come out and wave as they know we do this every year. What makes me smile is the little and big kids too who love to participate .

Similar Craftsman from around ’67 or ’68 with yours truly at the wheel. Six horsepower, 25” cut, and a simple F-N-R gearbox. It was no WH or JD, but it sure beat the heck out a 20” push mower doing a half-acre of lawn!

The temp varies due to the proximity of the wife to the kitchen. Same holds true to using the oven for pressing bearings and powder coating and using the dishwasher for cleaning parts!

@nylyon Yes this is out on the South Fork of eastern Long Island. They are one of the last family farms out here. @Brockport Bill You are correct! It’s hard not to love him, he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. The whole family in fact is very nice. Even though he works his ass off he’s always got a minute to stop and shoot the breeze, and then back to work. Glad you guys enjoyed the photos. ‘Merica!! 🇺🇸

Well, i got sick of blowing into gas tanks to prime an engine that has sat for extended time so I came up with this. Turns out a primer bulb will also pump air so I drilled and tapped a plain non gauge gas cap for a barb fitting. Then all that is required is a short piece of flexible vacuum tubing to connect the gas cap to the primer bulb. Pressurizer installed (don't leave the original gas cap under the seat as shown as you will break it if you sit on the seat. Luckily I did not sit on it). You can sit on the seat and pump air into the tank until you see fuel flow into the filter then the engine should start quickly.

my 1992 GMC K2500 elsewhere is my daily driver, however I don't drive a lot of miles about two thousand so far this year. One thing I have been doing on my vehicles the past fifteen years or so is using my pump up sprayer and coating the undersides and inside the fenders with Penetrol. Penetrol is used in oil based paint to help it flow smoother and I'm sure the main ingredient is linseed oil. It's been two or three years so today I crawled under and touched up a a few spots.

Yep, I don't understand why they don't appreciate that sweet intoxicating aroma drifting thru the house.

I backed into a job site down here in Sanford Maine about a year ago. 100 ft or more off in my driver side mirror I could see a guy Shuffle out of the house and side saddle onto a little red garden tractor. Wasn't the right brand but I figured anybody that uses a garden tractor as a mobility scooter could be my friend. I told him that and we hit it off right away.

That's what I was wondering also, where was the woman of the house while you were doing that. Bet she would appreciate seeing you do that

Boy how things change. Was not real interested in the new phones until work issued me one a couple decades ago. Of course evolving along the way I have found some simple uses. Using it as a magnifying glass on picture mode. I find when I am in a store and want to read the fine print, just whip out the phone, either on picture mode or take a picture. Some of the print is so fine even with reading glasses it is hard to see, but the phone blows it right up. The calendar is so sweet. Dr. appointments, events and birthdays.......no problem. Two steps ahead of the wife and her paper model! All the grand-kids play ball, sometimes all on the same night. Works well, I can go to one game and listen and watch the others. Especially nice for the one that travels sometimes 3 hours to play on weekends. Just some of my favorites

Judging by your post count, you must have it plugged straight into the grid!

Check to make sure that this vent hole is clear. If it is not the fuel pump will force gas through the main jet instead of letting vacuum pull it through. It should vent to here.

The in thing now is to upgrade to a flip phone.

I could not understand the pictures or descriptions of moving the tensioner spring, so I decided I’d build a tensioner. I think it works much better, and after the belt slipping and smoking a bit last night, it should perform great!

National Ballpoint Pen Day is celebrated every year on June 10 and is a rather fun and whimsical holiday. This day encourages us to honor this humble product that is found everywhere, in our homes, schools, art studios, offices, etc. Almost everyone has used a ballpoint pen once in their life and, for many, it holds a special place in their pen holder.

I am a fan of using Fluid Film. It leaves a dry-sticky waxy residue once sprayed on. Messy to apply, but a good excuse to wear & toss the gaudy flannel shirt Aunt 'Tilda gave you last Christmas!!!

Hello all, New guy here. I have my made up that I'll be buying a 312-8, primary use will be for snow plowing my medium sized driveway. Question; Is there a preference when it comes to engines? I know that the M Series is newer and does not use a points & condenser ignition, but any other advantages? I have an opportunity to buy a machine with the K 301 and it comes with a plow and wheel weights as well as a grader blade. Price is $350 for all. I could also buy a similar machine for the same price that has the newer M Series engine. Seems like the way to go is the newer machine, however that is located about 60 miles from me and the older machine is about 5 miles away. Tough choice!

Not sure I ever posted the addition of Simplicity sliding seat rails to our 312-H and 518-H++. The WH rails had a paltry 2.5” of travel. These have 6”. These pics show the fore and aft range on the 312-H. This has made it much safer for operators from 5’0” to 6’2” to conveniently reach the brake and controls. The last part of the seat upgrades was to make the seat safety switch properly handle a 100 lb operator (shutting down the tractor when they dismount but not every time they lean forward to get better leverage on a turn). This required a longer, shallow-topped plunger for activating the switch, a piece of rectangular tubing to keep it aligned, and a spring with sufficient strength but minimal compressed length. The washers on top allow for adjusting the “engagement height” (more washers=more weigh needed to engage). Importantly, big springs on the seat frame fully compress under a 175 lb operator leaving only about an inch between the seat frame and the switch collar so the plunger/spring combo must compress to less than that to avoid breaking the switch but still be long and strong enough to “click the switch” with only 100 lbs in the seat. The final step will be to replace the temporary self-tapping screws with some small bolts and nuts. (And yes, I know that newer seats have internal safety switches!)

Not sure if the new one is a Hydro. What years did the 312 use the Hydro? As far as buying both machines, I just might do that

Bringing a Wheel Horse dump cart to sell. $175 at the big show! Also bringing a 702 Wheel Horse. Will have a double hitch set up on rear and a set of red head caps on tractor. Rear caps not as nice as front . Nice set of rear General tires that could use a good cleaning (mud and dirt) ! Has a neat old Nelson muffler too! Newer carb, new seat cushion on good square pan seat. $625 at the show.

Biggest I would go on a 310 is a 42”, 48” will physically fit, but the little 10hp would struggle a little bit.

Welcome to RedSquare, if what you pictured is the “older” machine, buy it now before someone else on this forum sees this and grabs it. The grader and wheel weights alone are well worth the $350

My mother has a 2013 Honda Pilot that she’s owned since new. For the majority of the time she’s owned it she took it to the automated car wash that cleans the top and the bottom. I think she also took it there in the winter to get the combination that they sand with here off. The car barely has rust if any and it’s nearing 200,000 miles. Her mechanic was extremely surprised how clean it was underneath especially for a rust belt car, she may have had it fluid filmed as well.

A #1 indisputable first place usage is, Red Square! I use the calendar all day everyday to remember nearly anything. Sometimes I use it as just a notepad. Speaking of which, I have an app which is basically a posting or notepad that I keep a ton of information on. Weather. Youtube. I punched the clock at work on my phone. We are only just barely scratching the surface.

When my son bought his Rubicon, first thing he did was take it to get Fluid Filmed, great protection, but messy as hell. We added brighter backup lights to it and had to deal with the greasy mess of the fluid film, but way better than the crusty rust.

I use mine to keep walking paths open. Really beat on her use her more like bush hog.
