Great all around tractor. Well worth the $$$$$, sell what you don't need. If it checks out okay buy it before someone else beats you to it. Good Luck

Hello again, I had someone reply to my wanted ad with an offer on an 89 310-8. Tractor with mower deck, plow, lawn aerator, chains, utility trailer. Always garaged- one owner bought new in 1989. Runs great! $500.00 He was even going to deliver it, but has since rescinded that offer. It's not exactly what I was looking for, but figured it might be good for leaving outside in my temporary garage this winter to clear my driveway. I see some surface rust on the tractor. I really don't need the utility tractor or the lawn aerator, but am interested in the plow and the mower deck looks clean. I figure the plow is worth $100/$150. Thoughts on this tractor? I'm off to see it Monday. Thank you.

You haven't "baptized yourself" into the world of garden tractors fully until you've been inside a Peerless transmission!

National Wig Out Day takes place 10 days before the first Monday of June — on May 24 this year. Created in 2009 by sisters Kate and Alice Clark, the holiday went from a hometown celebration to a nationally-celebrated event. Residents of Bellingham, Washington were convinced to wear weird, crazy-looking wigs during the holiday’s first celebration. Wigs, in general, have existed since ancient times and their popularity keeps growing in strength.

That looks like some custom paint design by the owner, and not a factory spray-job.

Just the spring. Holes are there and no other parts needed. Do a search on the Flea for 108035. These tractors have worked fine for decades with just that spring and they still do.

X2 I love mine for mowing, but I like hydro lifts for snow plowing.

Yesterday/today I used C.A.D. to made templates for panels for the C141. I’m now in the process of making a shifter cover plate and a upper dash/throttle and choke plate.

Woke my pulling tractor up from hibernation. Fired right up and came out to see the light with it's hibernation slippers still on the back. Got the engine good & warm, dropped the front weight bracket off and did an oil change. Also greased & oiled all the moving parts. Did some weight rearranging. Last but not least, put its work boots back on. Ready for duty. Sure like the looks of the 26x12x12's on it.

I decided to get my trusty 4 1/2" grinder out to cut the sweeps down. I took 1/2" off from each side, making them each 5" wide. This gave me a small gap between each sweep instead of a slight over lap. Seems to work much better now. I took the center and the front 2 shanks off & did a few rows of sweet corn this morning. This configuration worked out great for the corn. Only have to straddle every other row to get a clean result. With my older Brinly cultivator that has narrow sweeps, I would always have to straddle every row. Time & fuel saving. With all 7 shanks installed I can cover a 42" path, which my 953 has no trouble pulling.

The Peerless shifter is held in place by a roll pin through the shift lever and the aluminum housing. Could be the cast aluminum housing has a crack in it. Find out what model number he has and download the manual to the transmission before you do anything else.

I wouldn't waste the time blasting the block. I have had great results with just cleaning the block with Dawn Power wash spray. Then a soft wire brush on the nooks and crannies and then painting with Rustoleum enamel and clear.

This is from the Kohler Service manual for your engine. If you haven't downloaded the service manual please do so before you get started.

I think 40W was recommended at the time, but I use 85/140 GL5 gear oil. My 856 ran fine with it.

It won't start if the PTO handle was still engaged. That switch will also cut off ignition if you aren't in the seat. Sit in the seat, make sure the PTO is all the way disengaged, push the clutch pedal and try it again. And don't wait for the grass to get knee high before cutting it! LOL

I know this is something you don't enjoy doing and would probably seem repulsive to you but if you were to plow the area first those big teeth would chew the freshly rolled dirt quite well.

I put another layer of dust on Morgan, the 14-8. I mowed what seems like 1/2 of the neighborhood. Mowed our two double lots, the neighbor's lot next door that just has a garage on it, and parts of the neighbor across the street 'cause they haven't been here yet this spring and their grass was 8 to 10 inches tall. I still haven't had time this spring to do a good cleanup and lube on the Wheel Horses. Looks like it might be a couple of weeks before I'll have the time.

Cam 2 Reminds me of this old lady who bought a brand new Monte Carlo SS every year from 85-89 where I worked. She would bring a car into the service lane to make her appointment. Then do a burnout when she left. Store owner would come out and say I know what burned rubber smells like but what else do I smell?

My form of non ethanol last trip was cam 2 race fuel… that price is so much better but does jot smell as good😂

The Magnum series would not have provisions for points like the K series does. Not sure if that would effect the fitment between the 2.

Don't have to remove the shock, just add the spring so the clutch will tension the belt better.

It looks like you are in 2 gears at the same time. You need to lift up one of the shift rails (with fork gear) one notch...then lift the other one the same way to be in netral again. One thing you did when taking apart your trans, you removed the right or shallow side. Everything is now upside down. It may be easier to remove all the gears and rebuild the trans in the shallow side. Use this thread to help you put it back together. This was my 1st trans, and I opened it upside down also.

My 312-8 is a great tractor. Has done nearly everything I have asked it to do and the only thing it didn't do was my fault. This one looks like it is in good condition. As said above. Run it and try it.

Just get the shaker plate mounts from a Wheel Horse (1978 to 1984) that used a K-xxxAS engine and use the pan that is on the M14AQS engine.

There was plastic stuck in the original bearings despite them spinning mostly smooth so I figured better be safe than sorry. I think the SKFs are made in Japan. I’m bringing him the piston this morning to measure before he machines it to make sure the finish hone is correct. I’ll also bring him the crank and rod to measure to be sure.

When i used to farm with full size implements. If a field cultivator would plug with trash that meant that you needed to disc the ground more to chop up the trash. Some would use a flair cutter on the ground similar to a flail mower or the bluebird dethatcher that had flail knives to beat up the stalks instead of discing the ground. However nowadays everyone has gone to no till/ min til and they drop the headers of the combines all the way down when picking up the crops the result is more crop residue is chopped up during harvest than the older smaller combines did and farmers had less tillage to do in fall and winter.

Remember if you eliminate the dampener shock, there is less control with the clutch engagement. What I am trying to say, your foot is the only control and someone who is used to running with the shock will be surprised when the clutch pedal is released. Just throwing that in.

Spring attaches to the eye of the cotter key on the clutch linkage and the other end connects to the little ear on the rear axle.

The motor is a K181 which is going on. As you see it needs fenders and a gas tank, I have a wanted ad in the classifieds so pm me if you’ve got something. This will be a longer build so stick with me!
