9 pointsIt seems like I've had even less time to work on Dino now that nice weather has arrived but that's the case. Just an iddy-bitty update to prove I'm still on it as time allows. I made the replacement seat spring bumpers using table leg thingys. Heated in boiling water and press fit then trimmed down. Before trimmimg. I received the new decal set from Terry. I thought about the American series or carbon fiber but decided on the timeless original. I just had to see the fender pan covering the 10.50's. I got the PTO and drive linkages hooked up. I'll say again that this style steering tower sure makes things tougher to get at. I still need to get the main tins sprayed. Hopefully I'll get the final sanding on them done tomorrow and while I wait for a good day to spray I'll attack the fuel lines and rewire. Both quick jobs. I think I'll mount the electric fuel pump directly under the tank.

8 pointsWell... bought a 520H with deck and bagger based off friends reassurance it ran and was good. That was a YEAR ago.... Paid them and went and picked it up tonight from his house... it took that long for friend to pick it up and bring to his house Uggghhh a non running mess... But I got a second 520H with gear reduction as part of the deal. Still paid WAYYYYYYY too much... oh well Ill combine them into one good unit, the hydro controls on the older non gear reduction are just the way I like them. LOOK AT THE FUEL LINE ROUTING ON THE NON BAGGER UNIT! OMFG!!!

6 pointsI've been procrastinating to have an axle repaired for a spare gearbox because the machine shop is a bit of a trek and always backed up with work. Out of the blue yesterday I was like, hey, don't we have a milling machine out in the warehouse? Duh.

6 pointsThis sounds like a fuel delivery problem. My first step is to insure there is a good supply of fuel to the carburetor. Remove the spark plug wire to prevent the engine from starting. Remove the fuel line at the carburetor and hold it in a container and crank the engine. There should be a good spurting supply of fuel. If the fuel supply is good, the problem is in the carburetor. It may just need cleaned or could be a hole in the float. If the fuel supply is not good, it could be a dirty filter in the line or a clogged screen on the shut off valve inside the tank, or a bad fuel pump. Next step would be to remove the fuel line at the fuel pump inlet to check for a good fuel supply to the pump. If the supply into the pump is good and the supply out is bad, the pump needs to be rebuilt. If the supply to the pump is bad, the tank shut off valve and/or screen is probably clogged. It may also be a clogged vent hole in the fuel tank cap, but they usually run for 10 minutes before this causes a shut down.

6 pointsMy wife’s uncle lost most of his vision after surviving brain cancer and the treatments. They have a 40 acre property down there and it was under water for 30 days after the early April storms. I brought him down a few weeks ago, stayed the night and drove home the next day. Yesterday, I went down, made it to his buddies house in time for bacon and eggs, and got him home before supper time. I had more coffee than I need to admit, but I made it!

6 pointsWe celebrate World Meditation Day on May 21 every year. The holiday seeks to create awareness about meditation and its benefits, especially in our busy world of constant movement. Meditation itself is a practice that has been traced to ancient times, as far back as 3000 B.C., when it was referenced in ancient Indian texts. It also has roots in third-century China. The practice includes using techniques such as mindfulness or focusing on an object, thought, or activity to achieve an emotionally calm and stable state. Today, meditation has transcended past stereotypes and entered mainstream culture in the West. The practice of meditation traces its roots to around 3000 B.C. However, some scholars proffer that meditation may be as old as humanity itself, stating that even the Neanderthals might have had meditative capacities. Derived from the Latin word ‘meditatum,’ meditation refers to a technique or set of techniques that individuals use to attain a heightened sense of awareness and focus on reaching a calm and stable state, mentally and emotionally. Meditation didn’t creep into Western culture until the 20th century. In the 1960s, Harvard Medical School professor, Herbert Benson, began to study the scientific aspect of meditation, finding that people who meditated used 17% less oxygen than others. In the 1990s, meditation began to be viewed as trendy in the United States, especially with celebrities joining the trend. Now, about 9.3 million adults in the U.S. use meditation.

5 pointsSooooo, you just drove nearly a thousand miles and what may we ask did you bring back? You holding out on us.
-
5 pointsI could never understand how anyone could buy a new 520-H and let it deteriorate like most of them do. I was fortunate to have bought a 1991 520 back in 2002 from the original owner with low hours and it is by far the most comfortable and do any task tractor that I own to this day. Good Luck with it Tony.

4 pointsMy wife and I went and saw the nurse practitioner for our 6 month check. She says we are still alive, and have good attitudes. My wife has a longer to do list than I do - she adds a skin cancer screening this year. I'm up for one as well. With any luck, we can get both appointments on the same day, as that office is about 60 miles away.

4 pointsThe valves you have circled in your post go to the later model fuel pumps like the one in the center of my picture or the plastic one on the right. The one on the left is what you are working with and the small springs and round valve plates will be needed. Be sure you buy the correct kit as the diaphragms have different posts. Call Then and Now and they can guide you to the correct kit.

4 pointsYou ARE what you eat, PERIOD. PUT good in get good out! continue to "polish the stone" it takes some doing, however you can be optimized. Keep up the good work!
-
4 pointsYou got the Old *OLD* style pump body where the center pieces are fiber valves with springs that are retained by the center retainer. (and gasket) which are shown in your photos next to the newer style valves circled. You will need the center retainer and screw saved back from the old pump to rebuild that pump.

4 pointsThanks to Pete we started taking collagen a few months ago. I'm happy to report that both Trina and I have noticed positive changes. I noticed a few days ago that the skin on the back of my hands is firming up. A good recommendation and I advise ALL of you to research the honest differences between LIFE span and HEALTH span.

3 pointsHad several dinner guests tonight. Seems I normally don't have a camera handy when they stop by but tonight I did. We only had five tonight, some times it will be up to a dozen at a time. That explains why I don't have a garden.

3 pointsMany, many years ago batteries had a hard rubber case that allowed both liquid and electrical leakage, setting them on a board gave some insulation between the battery and other things. Modern batteries have a plastic case so it doesn't matter what it sits on, I just wanted to nip that theory early in this thread.

3 pointsEven car batteries are not sealed. They have a vent somewhere. A lead acid battery has to be vented. AGM batteries have a pressure relief valve that vents
-
3 pointsI tried a cheap tender from Horror Fright once on my Motorcycle. noticed a lot of off gassing. Went to a Battery Tender brand on all of my tractors and haven't had an issue. My Power King is on a tender all year.
-
3 pointsYep, a combination of the tender charging and the gas behavior. The vented gas (vapor) is settling down into the tray and the acid is condensing out of the vapor there. I’m surprised you did not get a sealed battery since they are readily available even at the lower price points.
-
3 pointsSome of the cheap tenders can still over charge a battery. They don't ever turn off and continue to put low power all the time. There are good ones that actually shut off and on as needed. Not saying that is an issue for you but many cheap ones made in china I find actually worse then once a month I throw on a battery charger but I also always remove my batteries from equipment if I'm not gonna use it for a month or so. It only takes me a couple minutes to put in if I need it and I don't have to have one for every machine I have. The main issue is your tender is causing the battery to off gas. Steve

3 points750 is our one-day max each way bringing my daughter (and her stuff!) to/from South Bend, IN for college. My wife did a couple of one hour reliefs. About 15 hours each way. During her second year we wised up and got her a storage unit for the summer and she found ride shares for herself for the bulk of the distance. Whew!

3 pointsSOLD! Wheel Horse rototiller for sale here. Tines are worn, but usable. Has hitch and mid mount pulley set included. The flat idler pulley needs replaced, the PO’s brother allegedly welded it solid . No belt or tensioner springs included, and the rear idler is missing. The shell appears to possibly have been fabricated? I have not seen one like it. $250 $225 after seeing the couple things it needs. Dropped price to $185. SOLD

3 pointsI’m so proud of you EB! It’s a mind game to fast further than 24 hours. That first day is quite hellish. After that, your body takes over and eats some of its reserves. *edit* I’ve been fasting since early 2023. It has been a life changer in itself! No more “hangry” feelings in the head. My “feeling healthy thread here” March 4 was my first day in a gym for weight lifting since my freshman year of high school, 25 years or so ago. Other than travel limits we’ve been there every week day since. My strength is improving. April 9, while on a cruise ship, I ran a mile in 10 or so minutes. I never thought it would be possible! Since then, we run a mile every Wednesday before work outs. Today, I broke my 7 minute goal with a 6:53. The crazy thing is, 10-14 years ago, we did many 5k obstacle and mud runs. After 1 mile, I always had major knee pains from meniscus injuries sustained in high school. Snowboarding, skateboarding and stand up jet skis kind of wrecked me. Now, I’ve done two 5k races in the last two weekends and have had no knee soreness whatsoever. The repetition in the gym is doing more than tone me. I’m gaining mobility and strength where I need it. I also have visited the chiropractor a fraction of the time of “normal” pre-March 4. My weights are going up. My motions are becoming less awkward. It’s working!

3 pointsSince people are in large part irresponsible, manufactures learned to market disposable lawn and garden equipment and not cater to the minority that might give a rat's patootie. That's why we can't have nice things.
-

3 pointsMy C-120/180 - 8 bought it new in 1977 was my main mowing tractor for years. It was slowly transformed over the years as parts wore out. It has 3500# front axles hubs and 6ply 16 x 6.50 x 8 tires and 5 lug wheels. Then went to 1/2" heims joints on the tie rods. Rebuilt the axle pivot with over sized pin and thicker bushing in the front hitch. Next was a 16 HP Briggs Vanguard that I went off a bank and broke the oil pan, had that welded used it for another few years until it open a crack and I didn't check it in time. Some where 90's I busted a bearing in the transmission and replace all the bearing in it. The steering was up graded to the lower shadt with the 3/4"nut and cotter pin.. 2010 I replaced it with a 18 Briggs Vanguard. The PTO lever shaft and the Clutch shaft I installed brass bushings. There is also a frame brace.

2 pointsI have gotten 5 years out of the "dreaded Wal-Mart battery " leaving a good Tender on all year. My Power King sits a lot. Always plugged in and if I need to use it it's ready to go.

2 pointsTook a cruise to Leitchfield, KY and turned and burned back home yesterday. 912.1 miles and 14 hours 42 minutes on the road. I considered that 87.9 mile cool down lap to hit 1,000 miles in a day!

2 pointsI was there on Thursday. I didn't get a chance to connect with many, but I'm quiet by nature! I believe it rained Wednesday night, too, and when I showed up, I nearly buried myself on the first spot I tried. I was able to wiggle out of that one, though, and find something a bit drier! (this was the dry spot, but still soft!)
