I remounted the front tiller. I had mounted it on my working plow frame and had to switch from tiller to dozer blade using the same frame. I had this old short plow frame with no blade and the front angle sector was rust welded fast. Perfect use to mount the tiller. I had to trim the frame rear a bit to fit the axle bracket and redo the two support legs and the belt tensioner. Now I have a dozer blade tractor and a tiller tractor ready to go full time.

I've seen some social media posts from isavetractors lately that they are having some financial issues and are going to start phasing out some things and possibly shut the doors completely. They are a great source of parts and I have uses a lot from there. Norman, the owner, is a really nice guy and has a heart for old equipment so if you need anything or need to stock up on some commonly used parts stop over at isavetractors.com and help them out!

That green bungee was holding a plastic bag over the carb. I didn't want the flood waters getting in his throat.

My dump cart releases every time a cat passes wind. Reticfied it with some weld on the edge of the release handle and a heavier spring from my stash of Power King parts.

Hello Folks! I just picked this 310 up with the hopes of getting it in good shape for my mother’s yard. The model/serial number tag is not legible. Any suggestions on how to identify the approximate model year? Thanks in advance….

Black hood C-125 8 speed. Comes with a tight single stage blower and a tiller. Old gas, needs battery, points clean, fuel system r&r.

Might have JD rear tires. I'm so used to seeing "yellow" that I missed it. They have the original owners manual, face page covered with owners notes, part numbers & phone numbers scribbled down in pencil, pen and I think crayon. Makes it endearing.

Thanks everyone! I found the id tag. It is an 877. Now the fun begins. It does start and run sort of. Rebuilding the carb and changing fluids first thing. Gas tank is clean. Good solid restorable 877.

First real rides happened! Wiring is roughed in too! I’m fighting fuel issues, so no more test runs until the big show. I rebuilt the original carb, but the fuel adjustment screws were a different thread pitch and it instantly stripped out the pot metal body. Thanks @TonyToro Jr. and @Sparky in advance for the parts supply! @wallfish needs more show projects anyway!

I only got to hunt Monday morning. I had a great day talking to 7 jakes and 2 hens, but didn't see or hear a gobbler. We left for home Tuesday morning to beat the floods. Next week we can hunt all day. Before I take my dirt nap, It's on my bucket list to take a long beard with a 16 gage smoke pole that I built. It's a losing battle to keep the powder dry in the rain. I'll giter done though.

Over the past few days Trina and her momma have been working on lowering the back deck several inches to prevent water from entering the basement apartment during heavier rains. Pictorial:

I unloaded the deck that came with the C-101. Not the deck that fits the C, but this is the first NOS deck that I have seen. Then we got break in the rain so I unloaded the C. Then put him in the heated shop for a 5 week nap.

Hi, all. I tinker alittle but my age is starting to slow me down. I've been wanting to leave John Deere behind as I've decided I've been more faithful to him than he to I. I only mow about three acres, and occasionally pull a trailer around to dump barn clean out compose. I found a 1267 not too far from me with a disc, plow & mower. Everything is original. They say it was the sellers' grandfathers' machine, always barn kept. I tend to believe them. They said everything works. It's too far for me to casually go look. My one concern from the photos is it appears to toe out. I need to know how big of a problem this is. Also, are parts for these still available or do people buy "parts machines" to scavenge?
  17. 3 points
Yes, you have that one upside down. They can be a bit of a challenge to install. If you're not pulling the belt guard, start with the right rear one. It can still be a challenge. Loosen all the old one up, install the new ones loosely, then tighten them all up.

On close look something is wrong with your control linkage. On big blocks the throttle cable goes to the lower end of the rocker arm mounted on the air shrouded. There is solid link from the top end of the rocker to the pivot arm (where you set top end speed) This may or may not add to you issues.

Norman is a good dude. Never met him personally but I've talked to him on the phone a few times. Their business is only maybe 45 minutes south of me. I really like the concept of giving people local money whenever I can but unfortunately he's very rarely competitive on pricing. Looks like he's probably going to be the next player in this modern weird economy.

That is a bummer. I like his save videos and appreciate the efforts to keep this rigs serviceable. I hope they figure out something to keep it going in some capacity.

Hello all and I'm excited to join this forum. I inherited a Wheel Horse from my late Great Grandpa and enjoy using it and hope to do some restoration of it someday. In one of the pics I have tried to show the Model and Serial Numbers but it didn't come out clear so I plan on taking a few more of that label. Definitely would like some advice on what muffler I can swap out with the current one. Thanks ahead of time for helping me with my Wheel Horse!

That is a fine looking . Finding a one owner survivor that is nearly sixty years old is great. One of the best parts of being a Wheel Horse owner is the quality that was built into them. Standard bearings and seals that can be bought anywhere were used and we have several vendors providing aftermarket parts if needed. The other great thing about being a Wheel Horse owner is the support you will find on this site.

From his Facebook: We have limited supply of our iSaveTractors Parts. Many parts when sold out, will take a long time to produce again or not be produced again at all. Check out our website and get them now for your projects. Our Internal parts like Pistons are the best around, made to new piston dimensions. Been providing the best parts for the Kohler K series engines for 10 years now! looks more like a supplier issue to me. I like watching videos on YT from the "Car Wizard" His shop specializes in exotic and classic cars. They are working on a 67 Mustang. Going thru a "National parts supplier" he can't get a carb or carb kit. The parts are in a whare house in Canada and they won't ship them here!

I’m amazed you find the time to do this stuff amid all the stuff you keep up with!

Nice rig! That's a great model. Based on the decal color it's 85-89 I think. If it's a K series engine it's either an 85-86, if it's the Magnum Kohler it's 87-89 I believe. Very capable model though that should be a great worker.

There is a major blood shortage in my area. I’m sure many places need it the same. Donating blood is the only way that hospitals and surgery centers can obtain a supply. The places that pay for blood or plasma can only use it for research.

Parking brake lever is on the center counsel instead of under the fender, this would make it a 1967 model 877

@ TONY TORO JR , often refer to the bare frame opportunity , for a 5/16 steel brake line , inside of frame rail , secured into the 90 deg frame bend spot , eliminate , a long section of fuel hose break down , then barb or swage fittings , for start / end of fuel run with clear fuel rated hose . personally sta bil has eliminated any fuel hose break down debris , both filters are always clean / clear . love to eliminate a used to be chronic issue , pete

@Retired Wrencher It appears to be all original, with the paint still on the muffler and the **** on the tires!! A literal barn find!

ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY And.... totally dependent on where you are even in your own yard. Yesterday afternoon Trina went out the basement door to work on the deck. I went out the side door over to the barn. I never saw a black fly in the barn. She and her mom were near instantly swarmed. Black flies don't like a breeze. It can also be too hot for them. I was in a constant wind. They were in the shade and had no breeze. We have an absolute cloud of these nasty devil beings for 2 to 3 weeks annually. They use cool running water for life. We have several mountain runoff streams....

I learned that when I lived in Pembroke. My then wife & I decided to take a walk in the woods behind our house on an early June evening. After about 15 minutes we beat a hasty retreat. Those little suckers HURT, and then the bites itch for DAYS. It's hard for me to imagine how thick they were to have that effect on someone, and I definitely never want to find out.

Are head nets standard issue this time of the year? On one of my spring bear hunts in Northern Quebec we had to air lift a young guy that failed to keep his net on and got bit so bad around his neck he had trouble breathing. Black flies can be nasty.

Really... those seats are usually long toasted. Another favorite stack are ones they put on Cubs, no need for additional support & a nice mellow tone. Very reasonably priced too. Cub Muffler

I keep a few paper county and township maps for areas I hunt and fish in Pa, Md, WVa, and Mt. State maps don't show the elevations, streams and trails I need. It is amazing the detail you find in the GPS maps on land and water.
  45. 2 points
But... can you fold them back up???? The "newer" generation probably thinks the maps are to be used as emergency toilet paper
  46. 2 points
Our dependence on connectivity has really grown. I still keep recent paper maps in both of our cars, though, courtesy of AAA.

Looks like what you may have there is a 68 . Give us a pic of the tag under the dash. Deck might be a little older. Pay no never mind to the guy behind the curtain above. The other one has alot of rocks in his yard ... and his head ... He likes to trim high branches with his but we keep him around as he does have his moments. You want a real stack get ahold of a guy named Jim Kemp ... finest there is and he damn near gives them away...

NO, NO, NO, and NO. The windings are insulated with a varnish coating which would very likely be compromised, ruining the stator. There are many electronics-safe cleaner sprays that you can use available at auto parts stores and online. Most are best used in extremely well-ventilated places, by the way.
