Working today? Please! There’s something a bit more important happening. All 30 MLB teams are in action as it celebrates Opening Day! Also, tomorrow there will be a fifteen way tie for first place! Too soon? Well, in case you’re wondering — yes, this is (sort of, but not technically) the earliest Opening Day ever. (Seattle and Oakland played a pair of games in Tokyo last week.) This season is especially exciting because it will mark the first time since 1968 that all teams begin play (in the U.S.) on the same day — March 27. Remember, it’s not springtime until Major League Baseball says it’s springtime. Today is the day!

Got the rest of that section of floor pulled up just the middle section left.

May I suggest putting caps on those protruding bolts or cutting them a bit shorter, your shims just might thank you.

That bolt and wire guide should be moved forward to the tapped hole forward of the pulley. That should position the guide closer to the pulley like the top guide.
  11. 4 points
That guide is not correct. It goes on the back side of the belt. It's designed so when you push on the pedal the belt slacks and the guide supports it. Then the slack pushes the belt away from the pulley.

Exactly. And mine has some upper body strength from her years as a floor nurse. They just don't hit the same though.

Got the front weights on. And then I removed the battery to put it on the charger. And as I was doing that gas just starting pouring out of the bottom of the tank of course I had just filled it all the way up lol. It was the rubber grommet that split. Fortunately I had a new spare one just had to get it on, so it was a bit of a mess

I had a Troy Bilt Pony come in to repair a leaking wheel axle seal. I found someone had tried a repair previously and had gouged the axle badly trying to remove the leaking seal. I had to put the new seal in about half way to put the seal on a good surface. The repair was successful, the machine hasn't come back and the customer has brought other in work since.

I've found this to be an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful forum. If you can't find answers to your tractor questions here, you're probably charting new territories. Hope to see you at the show.

Hey, Glen here. Some may recognize me from Facebook if you’re on it. I have an Electro12 that’s in pretty decent condition. The hydraulics work on it, the electric clutch doesn’t, which isn’t a big deal at the moment. My boy has claimed it for the most part. I’m hoping to find a cheap Wheel Horse for him or for myself to give him the Electro. I’m in Central Pa, and I’m hoping to go to the Biglerville show this year.

Bring them up right, each one NEEDS a Wheel Horse of their own.

I've been known to flip a seal inside out and install reversed on a low or no pressure application. Often moves it just enough.

I knew I should have joined this forum sooner! Thank you for all of the help. I will post pictures when I get it done. Gotta get the little ones to bed!

My 2 cents as a body shop manager: IF ( IF? ) we were willing to do it , and somebody we didn't know walked in off the street and asked us to paint a complete tractor ( tins, frame , wheels , etc ) minus the engine and rear axle , and assuming these parts are already prepped and ready to spray , you would be looking at around $1000 give or take. No body work , no post paint buffing , just the materials and labor to spray it.

It is not a bad Idea to move a seal in or out further than the one you replaced... Seals can wear a groove int the axle. get the new seal on a better surface...

Changed the oil on the 416-8, and FINALLY found why it was running poorly, one bolt on the forward intake manifold port was loose. Tightened it up and running great, of course I cleaned the carb again, but hey at least the carb is nice and clean!

So new to this forum (all winter lurker) and I am having trouble with my 68 raider 12. My drive belt is not disengaging when I go to shift gears. I don't think I have my belt guides set correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I inherited this tractor from my neighbor who was going to scrap it. I have already rewired it rebuilt the carb and put just a bunch of sweat equity in to it. I really like this little tractor and would love to be able to use it this upcoming season. Just getting a little frustrated with it right now. Thanks for any help again.

I would suggest removing them one at a time and running the bolts into the wheel rather than the weight.

Here are my 2 Radio Flyers. A friend of mine and I made these a few years ago. I used to push / pull my nieces kids around at car shows. They have long since out grew them. They need to go to new home for more memories.

Thanks for the clarification. I believe you are correct that only one set of pinions floats in its body; the other set is on the housing bolts. As for the failure, I love this line from the play The Man of LaMancha: “It doesn’t matter if the pitcher hits the stone or the stone hits the pitcher--either way it’s bad for the pitcher” 😁

Not a crime under the CURRENT administration (pun intended) and it may be safer for your son. Depending on the year and model, some electric Wheel Horses had no speed control other than shifting gears so it could be a handful for a little guy.

Hers a picture of the bottom of a waffle iron and a 12” skillet that are part of my collection. They both get regular use along with the 10” skillet and the Dutch oven and chicken fryer. I care for them as most of you have already described. Thanks for helping me find the maker of the 10” in the last picture. I was not aware of Birmingham Stove and Range before reading about it here. That one sees the most use. I got the 12” in a box of stuff that came with a Vermont Castings wood stove I bought used. It was all rusty in the bottom of the box of stove stuff. Just fried up some flounder fillets last night in it. Some folks says it’s worth a couple $$$. Worth more to me as cookware.

Yes tons of torque and sound amazing. But stuff loosens up. Intakes, carb mounting bolts, bearing retainers, valve seats and oil filter adapters. Kinda like a Harley!

Got the front rims painted. And got weights mounted on the landside of the tractor for plowing, the tires are already fluid filled.

That trip, it was all done by hand in and out of the truck. Ask me to do that with anything but short frames? Ahhh. No.
  46. 2 points
Ah, thanks Ed. So this guide gets positioned close to the belt so it makes contact and drags on the belt when the clutch is disengaged instead of a tab on the bottom of the belt cover!

Actually, some of @Pullstart’s loading ideas do have merit. For example, it was he who converted me from using side-to-side straps for holding a tractor on a trailer to using front-to-rear straps. The method is to loop long tie-down straps, one on each side, around both front and rear axles and to solid endpoints on the trailer. The loops prevent any rolling movement during transit and having two straps (either one with the strength to hold the tractor) gives secure redundancy. When well tightened, there is remarkably little side to side freedom, either.

I wished you wouldn't give people Pullstart's ideas Richard...

The last 30 seconds of the video should be: "and then drive the tractor into a dumpster where it can be put to a timely death..." What a crock...

Mr. Start is a young'un compared to me, he also has some equipment to help him load and unload. Now if he is doing all of that by hand, when and if he gets to my age he will definitely need help loading stuff. Now if he doesn't mind the 2000 mile trip from his place to my place he will be much appreciated "I will gladly pay him Tuesday for some help"
