I got Benny fired up the other day! @adsm08 you were right about one of the front tires. So, I rocked it with one tire flat on the bottom/top/front/back while it rolled along. The foot rod is broken from the frame. It’s got a “safety loop” on each side from an S hook or small chain link. The drive belt may be a bit too long. I need to hold the clutch pedal back to engage the belt. There’s a big fuel leak from the one piece tank, where the very large pipe bushing meets the tank. I was able to tighten it about 1/8 turn, but it just slowed the leak. I’ll have to take it apart, clean it up, and re-assemble. The best part though, no smoke from the engine! It starts stubborn with a weak battery, but once it pops off, it runs great! All I did, was verify it had spark, charge the battery for a day, put fuel in and fire it up.

For the last several years I have been staying in Gettysburg, specifically Choice Hotels, which includes Quality Inn & Sleep Inn. I had several terrible experiences at the Quality Inn, so I've been staying at the Sleep Inn since 2022. Last year there was a problem with the breakfast service, so I wrote to Choice Hotels. They said they would issue me 35,000 points for my trouble . Big woop. So this year, I downloaded a new version of their app, and lo and behold, there are my 35,000 points that I'd forgotten about. So I booked my two nights at the Sleep Inn, and it was totally paid for by points. Here's this year's room.

Thank you for all the Birthday wishes. Mostly an average day for me. Ran a 49L natural gas generator for an extended load test. Love the glow of a turbo & exhaust. Just when you think your kids pay no attention to what you do any more, they remind you that they still know. My son gave me a shirt that pretty much is spot on for me. Finished off the day with my meal of choice at home. A steak fresh off the grill, a baked potato, and fire roast corn. All & all a good day.

Started refurb on another "Fireball 8" This is out of a 65 875 so it's a spark advance style engine. New piston and valves. This will be going into my 857 as a temporary engine whilst that engine gets rebuilt. Then it will be a spare bullet if the need arises. Used the old screw and slide hammer trick to remove the deep PTO seal

Not a popular position probably but especially in Europe I woould avoid the Kohler or KT or M-18 series and the onans. Parts for Kohler twins are getting hard to get here in the USA I doubt Onan parts are all over Europe either..Get a K-341 16hp single or get a B&S Vanguard twin.

$200 is probably fair but without pics anything is possible. Kinda hard to kill anything with a Kohler and manual trans. If the engine turns over by hand with compression and it shifts into all the gears I say go for it if you like it. I had a CC 100 years ago. Really liked it but the engine smoked like the lady at the end of the lunch counter in the 60's. With a kid on the way I didn't have the time to mess with it.

@Achto You have multiple brands. Any thoughts?

Kevin. My brother has a wood stove like that with an assembly line on rollers stop at 4’ saw comes down and cuts it. Then goes to a stacker. The hole thing is under a pallet shed. Heat the hole house.

I haven’t ever seen or heard about anything like those. Now JD did make some “spin out” wheels that were adjustable offset like the big tractors.

More progress today I got the hood finish painted headlights in and mounted and like any old car/equipment it was a bit of a PITA to mount. Now to get the hood stickers again as pulling the old ones off the old hood was a no go.

@Red Stallion Two other members besides myself answered you about what red. I stated in that post I used ACE or Rustoleum brands gloss black. It's going to dull over time especially if you don't clear coat it. I don't clear coat as both of mine are used to mow and plow. Since your in Austrailia, as long as the paint can bond to metal any available brand should work. If your going showroom stock I've heard that satin black was the stock black. But there really is no specific black or red to use I use what I have access to.

@Sparky @Achto @Ed Kennell this transition from where I was , to where I am , has been a real learning experience . at a level that I have only been close to , with my knee replacements , it should force you to engage it , remember you will not win it , but more importantly , you will sense / adapt to how you are doing . little spikes of gain , will show you how you need to move and work with it . have met others with similar , recovery frustration , offer what I have been doing , show them how , always a modified form , that will let you , start to gain from it . another step that verifies on track gain is a very tired sleep need , been listening to that , hour or two , in the afternoon , as dr said , as long as it does not , interfere with night sleep , its ok . think the general fear I see with joint work is hear say , that terror , spoils all aspects of having it done . joint recovery , rehab centers , put you on track . they want you to do well . just my own personal experience , walkin the talk , pete

Cub Cadet's with a gear jammer tranny are getting hard to come by in my area. The Cub Cadet 122 is a sought after by the pulling crowd. At a $200 purchase, I could easily flip that & double my money. Without getting it running. Transmission alone should bring $300

Yup!!! I have gravitated to the Orville Redenbacher Simply Salted variety available at the Big W ( Wally World) We had a baby sitter when I was about 4 years old. Everytime she was there she tried to make Jiffy Pop for us. Burned it every time!

No wood trimmed steering wheel. Leather wrapped chrome 3 spoke steering wheel with 4 holes in each spoke. No such standard 420 that I am aware of. $ 8000.00 with 48'' side discharge deck and misc other items. blah blah blah.

I've have been working on the barn a bit just nothing picture worthy until now. Got all the beams cleaned off, nails removed, and leveled out. Next moved the stack of 2x10's I had in the next section of barn, to be able to take the floor up. And no they are not nailed down and yes I am going to stagger them. With the lumber out of the way I was able to take this last "wall" out

One of the pine trees in my side yard finally gave up. It was time to take it down before the Hostas started coming up underneath it. The C-81 was chosen to help. Dead pine trees are NO fun, only ended up getting poked in the ear, unscathed otherwise. The didn't seem to mind though... Last summer... Yesterday, almost hit 70 degrees, warmest day yet this year, perfect day for yard work.

That's a lot of love you are putting into that old girl! Love it. Can't wait to see more progress.

I have reservations on what I’ll do with it. I needed another round hood like another hole in my head. This 701 double pulley engine will be the second one I’ve come across now. If it runs well, I may shelf it. I’ve got a yank start K-181 that came from @wallfish last year that I’d like to put to use. You know, one less battery I gotta maintain… although I just got two good used batteries from @Bow_Extreme a few weeks back. This one is actually kind of rough. The square seat pan has been welded up crudely, the belt guard is worked on pretty hard, the hood has been welded and has a couple funky holes in it, etc. I haven’t checked out the steering, or transmission. There’s a boy across town who watches my YT videos pretty religiously. He’s got a C-101 that he was pretty proud to show me. Funny thing, his mom and Mrs. P are real good friends from school. When I stopped by to visit him one day, it was like he was star struck I’ve thought maybe I would find something I have and see if he wants to come work on it with me some day. At the end of the day, send it down the road with him. This one? Maybe Jane the Commando 6? I don’t know.
