Alexander Graham Bell Day is celebrated on March 7 every year. It was on this day that Bell was granted a patent for “transmitting vocal or other sounds telegraphically,” and on March 10, Bell made the now iconic statement, “Mr. Watson, come here. I want to see you,” through a transmitter. His assistant Thomas Watson, who was in the next room, received the ‘call’ and heard the voice clearly — thus, the first telephone call was made. In honor of the day, he was granted the patent, people around the world celebrate March 7 as a day of innovation and invention. The holiday is recognized by an official act of the legislature in Nova Scotia, Canada. Alexander Graham Bell was a scientist and inventor who is best known for inventing the telephone. Bell was born on March 3, 1847, and all through his life, he was encouraged by his partially deaf mother to pursue scientific study. Bell’s father was an influential figure who taught deaf students and fostered communication within the deaf community, something which Bell himself was great at from a very young age. Bell went on to work with the deaf community throughout his own life and eventually married a deaf woman just like his father had done. His mother, Eliza Grace Symonds, and wife, Mabel Gardiner Hubbard, both lost their hearing due to childhood illness. It was Bell’s determination to help deaf people that inspired most of his inventions, including the telephone. He was working on making improvements to the telegraph system when he got the idea to try transmitting speech telegraphically, something that hadn’t been done before. That was what led to the telephone. Telephones have become such an important part of our society today, and many innovations in communication have been made since then. In addition to the telephone, Bell is also credited with inventing the metal detector and developing the Hydrodome, a watercraft that set a world marine speed record in 1919.

I finally achieved a good hot burn! It was fun to ramp this up to the point of making the entire burner system glow.

Today it’s warm enough here to do some tinkering. So I have been sanding and working on a replacement hood for the 312. I also primed and painted the covers for the spare Magnum 12 I have. I also primed the new hood for my 312. It’s been a busy day.

Your tractor numbering system is off, you should have numbered no. 2, 5 or 6, then you could go back and fill in the missing numbers.

It never bothered me having a black windshield frame and white roof, but seeing the black roof and windshield frame together makes me want to paint my roof!!

The coil made it here! When the other one gets here I guess I'll have a spare. I was just tinkering this morning and made some fuel pump blanks. They could be drilled and tapped for a 1/4" barb but after pondering things I'm just sticking with electric. I'll probably get back on the 314 tomorrow.

I’m in the same boat. Once the snow and ice go, My lawn is going to have to be raked and the plow divots fixed. Some of my driveway has migrated into it. We have been getting bouts of non subzero weather so sooner than later the grass will be here.

The wiper is one of those things that doesn't get used often but when you do ... nice.

Many have an old 12 volt drill/screw gun that the batteries have expired on. Most just replace with another complete set so the old one gets tossed up on the shelf. I repurposed one powered by the tractor's 12 volts to turn the crank and is a bit fast but works great.

Burnsville is 3500 ft. lower and 32 miles South, should have better weather. Just a few mile down the mountain it was a lot better.

I been a fan of Susan's long before she married Derek Trucks. She used to preform here in small clubs and venues. Her debut album " Just Won't Burn " is one of my all time favorite albums.

Derick (great roots) is an excellent guitarist and Susan ain't to shabby either. They make a great band. She did kind of rob the cradle, though.

From @SHARON's link... Fully enclosed cab with ABS Plastic Roof. Roof is Now Black, not White as shown in picture. The Lexan windshield can easily be replaced with the optional safety glass windshield, which is available for purchase separately. Forward inclination of the windshield minimizes glare and contact with falling snow and rain.

We bought on back in 2021. Opted for the glass windshield and wiper. Roof and glass were offered in black at the time. My hubby loves it. We dedicated this Toro Wheel Horse 520H ( repowered with Honda V twin in 2015) to snow removal and leave the cab and snow equipment on year around.

@Retired Wrencher always look over a chronic issue on its INTENDED FUNCTION , usually very close in its setting , on my cable set ups , regularly add a LIGHT PULL TO CLOSE EXTENSION SPRING ? think about it , every time you engage the dash area , pull , move point , there is spring assist in its movement , to close . my experimental problem / functional control , was a step by step gain , initially , internal super lube oil . eliminated drag , spring pull to close , made it simple , smooth , easy . found a small piece of perforated , metal gave me a go to spring pull point . have the same set up on my 3 horses . the repetition of a problem , shows me the way . you can always paint an improvement RED , so it disappears , pete

AMAZING! As I posted in #91 Feb. 23 was the last report on where it was. Yesterday I filed a missing mail report but figured they'd blow it off. All of a sudden it was updated to this. I also received 5 texts from them about my 'expedited' package. Once I have it in my hands I'll contact the seller. I also requested, and received, a refund from him yesterday. I'll pay him again. Fitness update. I lost weight by semi-aggressive fasting on purpose so that I would lose the visceral fat around my organs faster. That has really paid off. The pants I am wearing right now, I have had to leave the pocket unzipped or they would not be comfortable driving. Today I have the pocket zipped up and I'm perfectly happy about it.

I use a free downloaded video tachometer app on my phone. It uses the built in camera flash and adjusts the shutter speed to match the RPM. It works great and its always in my pocket.

AWESOME! Welcome aboard!! As @Pullstart might say... YOU GOT THIS!! Strength training is a HUGE help for overall well being. Whether we like it or not, cardio is THE weapon against being outta shape. Treadmill. Elliptical. Whatever your favorite flavor is. Get one you can STICK TO and use it as often as practically possible. I definitely struggle with that one. I'm not a fan of machines. Better yet.... get outside and walk around!! The anxiety and mood are DEFINITELY improved with exercise. For us here it's gonna be all about the mountain hiking this year... with a good mix of trail bicycle riding. Tractor and most other projects will be taking a back burner to health.

I fasted just shy of 47 hours. My decision to feed was based on me trying to get things done and having pretty limited energy. Tomorrow being a good sized truck load for me I really need the liveliness back. I'll keep to the 16/8 or so fasting and very limited calories for a few weeks. Quite likely do a few 24 hour ones too. OMAD One. Meal. A. Day.

At 13.3 lbs in just over 4 weeks that's a little more than 3 lbs per week. So... double the initial goal.

Time for an update Got the next side down which took a while with the turning brake pedals and linkages and so began the restoration of the next batch of panels and parts. A couple of weeks on and the next batch of parts were ready to start the re-assembly process but first an opportunity for a photo.... So just finger tight at present till I know everything lines up ok parts went back into place and the tractor started to take shape again. The greatest pleasure was in seeing the three-point come together after repairs. Thanks to Mark (Meadowfield) who located a top link for his GT-14 on fleabay, I was able to get one also and it seems to be pretty much the perfect length for a 'D' series. Some days go well, others are more of a challenge with this project like today when I only managed less than half what I'd intended. One of the previous owners had driven a nut onto a bolt despite the threads not matching so it would neither tighten or come back down the mangled thread. It was also in a pretty inaccessible place so cutting through it without damaging other things wasn't an option. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own and work on mechanical things - this guy was one of them. About an hour of patient coaxing and the nut finally dropped to the floor and I was able to remount the starter solenoid properly and so on to draining the oil in the tranny. I knew it was actually oil in there rather than ATF but on draining it discovered it certainly wasn't motor oil. It was very thin so I'm guessing hydraulic oil. It's the second project were a previous owner seems to have been unable to read the instructions as to what should be in there despite the sticker on each tractor being intact and legible. First case - It's an 'automatic' so I shall ignore the instructions and put in ATF. Second case (this one) It has hydraulic lifts so I shall ignore the instructions and put in hydraulic oil. As I said, some people shouldn't be allowed near anything mechanical. Anyway, it meant I had to get out all that I could rather than just draining from the tranny and this took the rest of the afternoon. So next it will be changing the axle oil seals, replacing the impliment lift valves working towards being able to run the motor once again and get onto resolving the reversing issue. Andy
