This 1067 was a farm tractor most of its life. It was real dirty when I picked it up.But know she is a great worker. Will be putting a plow on it soon. Hope you enjoy the picks.

I like this idea. Normally I just free hand mine with a brush. Not perfect, but not too bad. Getting harder now that my eye sight is starting to take a crap.

Wheel Horse must not have been notified when this development of illuminated tires was created in 1961! Goodyear was also a supplier to Wheel Horse in 1961!

Hi all. As the title says, I've been feeling down a bit over the last few weeks. Nothing I can put my finger on, but a definite low mood. My appetite took a dive and I've lost about a stone in weight over three weeks. So Mrs. W trots me to the GP for a chat. He wrote me up for every blood test known to man, or woman for that matter. Chest xray, poo test, psa test, etc. Etc. All came back OK except for psa which now has to be tested again in a month and the xray which showed possible enlarged heart. So had to go for an ECG today. Total cost so far?...£0.00 thanks to the NHS. He's also prescribed citalopram which will help with the mood issues. God this getting older malarkey is no fun at all. Why did I not do more when I was younger lol.

Couldn’t agree more! There are so many foods I can longer eat, I need more sleep, can easily hurt my back now..none of these were an issue a few years ago. And the list goes on…. Follow Drs orders and stay well friend!

I have started with much worse. We call it “swamp fresh” when they come from the south! @shaggydoink I say use this mower to learn a bit. You said you’ve got some experience on other equipment, so this will be easy. Your mower isn’t as heavily built as its big brothers, but still tougher than most of the machines it was built to compete with. You can learn a few tricks on this one and keep your eyes open for one of those big brothers. I’ll bet you still enjoy the experience and get some use out of it regardless. I have restored several tractors. I’ll never recoup the money spent on them, but I enjoy it regardless. My first “restore” was an old Murray mower when I was just a kid with no money or sense. Not only was it fun, but it made me proud to have something I brought back to usefulness. Then I found my first Wheel Horse, and that was a long time ago. I still have that machine, though it has seen continual improvements. It would be the last I’d ever let go of now.

I'm just going to say a few things...I hope your Doctors find that you went to them in time to find what is the problem. I hope they find someting they can cure. Third...my prayers are with you !!! One thing I know...Prayers work !!! Know that Red Square is the best support group out there...be strong and believe.

I've been having problems with my hands. I'm sure much of it has been caused by the pounding they took being a mechanic for years. Having a hard time even squeezing a wire crimper. Some days even unloading the dishwasher can be a challenge. Thank goodness for fat steering wheels

The reborn B-80 is now officially complete. The 1976 went from me buying it new at Chandlers in South Bend to a B-160 3-4 years later. It stayed that way for over 4 decades as it got the snot worked out of it. Mowing, tilling pushing snow, dirt and gravel, you name it, it did it. Here it is shortly before the 160 conversion pulling our oldest daughter (now 46 years old) and grandson around. As you can see, I haven't changed one bit. I've painted several engine shrouds and hood letters with pretty good results but nothing beats the decals @Vinylguy makes. I applied the engine letters this morning. When I first put the K341 on it I decided to remove the B-80 hood stand decals with the intentions of getting some B-160 decals made for it but never did. Just as well. Along with the engine letters was a pair of shiny new B-80 8-speed decals. That make everything official. Obviously I won't be mounting the 48" mower deck on it anymore but that was never the intention. This is now dedicated to the snow/dirt blade and will stay that way year round. Or until my next whim.

I needed a garden tractor, primarily for moving my heavy utility trailer around my property. Secondarily, I think I can make good use of a snowplow. I found this C-120 Automatic that seemed to be mostly complete and runs well. It also came with a snowblade, chains, and aftermarket wheel weights. I thought $400 was reasonable. I'm posting here to begin my learning curve as I begin going through it to make it a solid performer. If I develop an affection for it, I may attempt a restore. I have mechanical and paint skills but no Wheel Horse specific knowledge. I'm glad there are online communities like Red Square where I can gain insight!

It didn’t make sense to some people when I got my 1994 520H, and my 1984 Work Horse GT-1600, but I had an interest in the 520H, even though I didn’t need it. I had never had a real small garden tractor. Now I’m infected. While I will admit that your project is in a good bit worse condition than what I started with, I kind of do see your point in “giving it a shot.” It just seems easier and more sensible to spend money on an older piece of equipment or tool that is quality made than to spend the same money on something that is not made nearly as well and will most likely not outlast what is already 40 years old. So… I had fun with my 2 so far (kinda working on a 3rd), and glad I did it.

Never ever never knock too much off that honey do list because it will NEVER get smaller anyway. Pace yourself and make excuses if necessary. LOL If you knock off too much of that list the next thing you know you have enough time to spend an evening binge watching Dowton Abby for hours! LOL Then you will need to get up early and clean up the leaves when there is still thousands left to fall off the trees.

I'll bring the necessary tools to fix it on plow day. Won't even tell her & see if she notices.

As long as you can line up the belt and it fits under the hood, anything is possible. We'll help you as needed.

Agreed with above. Definitely take care of yourself. I've been on kind of a strange Road myself over the last few years trying to figure out all these unexplained body pains and lack of ability to move some days. I've been feeling a fair amount better this year which is interesting because I haven't really made any changes. As for wishing you had done more earlier. Don't. My other half and I were blabbing about that a few years ago. I'm paraphrasing some here but she said, it's okay to think that you should have done things differently but the fact is, everything you've done up until this exact point in time made you who you are right now. Be strong. Be happy. Do what makes you in a positive space as long as it doesn't hurt others.

Norm was Special People. We would talk for hours on Skype. I learned a lot about England and their customs. We just happened to be on Skype on January 6th a few years ago on the day the Capital got stormed. I pointed my Skype camera toward the TV so Norm could watch it with me. We watched and chatted during that whole afternoon. To be able to watch that "Live" from England with Norm is something that will stay with me as long as I live. It was an unbelievable experience. Rest in Peace my Friend.

@Mickwhitt regularly stay in touch with dr , and local pharmacy , they are connected with our medications , and any upcoming check out . my wife was an office manager at a nursing home , and she can decipher / read thru any , medical / insurance form like nothing . keeps us both on medical tracking . agree with getting older , but getting anything done thats required . have a hip replacement coming up , very common today , will allow me to comfortably walk again , what a concept ! stay after it , pete

Still miss nORM and his SKYPE sessions with @stevasaurus. I have a picture of him waving on his tractor above my desk. See it every morning.

@shaggydoink As you can see there's a couple great examples above. Here on our acreage, my Other Half Trina has 5 tractors of her own. 3 have been restored. I have 8 or 10 setting here. Two of mine have been restored fully, two more mechanically. She and I also share a Backhoe on a Wheelhorse. Just keep an eye out and work on what you've got there.

@WHX?? If those decals don't want to stay put, I can hand letter them in silver for you. No sense hiding that thing in the garage where no one can see it !! Bring it to the shows where we can camp by our exhibits. Sides, there's nothing you can wreck so bad that I can't fix it. Less maybe you back over it with a truck. Damage factor reminds me of laying tile in my brothers kitchen. We had all the tile laid out & glued down. Went back the next day to start the grout. He dropped something & put a chip in one of the tiles. He was a little miffed & said "Screw it, no one will notice". I said "I'll notice every time I come over". Then I calmly walked over & smashed the tile with a hammer & said "There now we gotta replace it". Problem & problem solved.

I have used that my self on RC bodies. I think that it would work quite well.

I wonder if something like this would work to paint letters, detail, etc… As you paint it on let it dry and cut out what you want to paint. Once your done peel it off and that’s it. It’s basically a clear overspray film. It’s used in hobby grade R/C cars to paint intricate designs into the clear lean bodies.

Imagine a huge pile of those in a dump. It would be like a beacon for planes at night.

Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery made a big difference for me. Feeling and dexterity are now far better than before, not an instant change, took a couple years for improvement to be noticeable.

I'm betting blow by is over- pressurizing the breather / gov area . There shouldn't be an excess amount of oil way up top unless overfull. A cylinder leakage test could confirm. I had a K341 that ran fine but leaked a tad out of the gov. Had half of the piston skirt missing.

It may interfere in some cases, but not on 3 different tractors here. Two 8-speeds and a hydro. Even my 520-H with wider rear wheels and 10.50 tires occasionally rubs the deck height adjust handle, but that’s all. Maybe the 42SD deck I have is newer, but I’ve had several that never gave issues. Upgrading from 8.50 tire width to 10.50 will be at worst one inch wider on each side of the tractor. If you at least two inches between the gauge wheel bolt and your current tire, you should have all the room you need for 10.50 tires.

There is a new OEM Briggs starter on Amazon for $101. Might be worth it. The first one lasted 40 years.

Thanks for warm welcome and assistance. I have a few things I would like to make right. Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated. Oil Dipstick - missing the top cap. (Thankfully it's still intact from the plug down and usable thanks to a bush-fix) Headlight housing - (PO had a new lens but the housing is MIA) FOUND ONE! PTO belt to power the 42" side discharge mower deck - I keep finding conflicting information on the correct size. Blades for 42" side discharge mower deck Hood pivot rod - Mine has been bolted on and is kind of sloppy. The holes in the hood appear to be slightly larger than the holes on the frame (like maybe there's supposed to be a bushing???) Is there any type of hood stop that keeps the grille from hitting the frame? Thanks again!

Plow Day???

My wife likes to keep up with air traffic in the southeast, and today she showed me that she has seen dozens of helicopters (civilian and military) moving into and out of the mountains. Hopefully some folks up there are getting some help. I will also say there are some areas up there that are in very bad shape. If they’ve ever needed some extra prayers, it is now.

Painting the raised letters. Cover the letters and adjacent area with rubber cement and let it dry good. With a razor blade shave off the flat portion of the letters. Paint the flat portion. When paint is good and dry, rub off the remaining rubber cement.

@mrc since using STA BIL in all my small engine , equipment , the first thing you notice is , no fuel hose debris , in the fuel bowl . my first experiment with it was to clean out existing fuel sediment areas , tank , carb , so I could verify its storage claims . replaced old hoses , fresh filters , since that change over there has been zero / no debris in filters , or carb bowl , adding an ounce of STABIL to all my fuel tank top offs , lets me use regular ethanol gas , without any issues , isn't that what you want ? run 3 engines on this set up , regular gas , stabil is made for storage , chemical make up , has worked for me . as stated replaced filters , old hoses , cleaned tanks , no fuel hose debris in any holding area . buy the large bottle of stabil , add it to all my fuels , no distance travel involved . run my stuff year round , no fuel issues , my generator also uses it , fuel filter / carb bowl / clean clear , just sayin . pete

I bought another one. From what I saw and was advised on here it’s an 87 308-8. Most of this afternoon, I’ve been freeing things and getting it running. It looks worse than it is. I got everything unstuck and running so it’s just minor stuff now. The deck looks pretty good too.
