6 pointsAfternoon fellas and Felletes... Been using a 2011 Rogue with a CVT as a daily... cant tow "poop" with it... rating is 1000lbs and thats 999 too much. These CVTs are WEAK... but I digress. Sold the Rogue to my Nephew as he was daily driving a '96 F350 4x4 with a 460!! Bought a '16 Jeep Renegade 4x4 with a 6 speed manual. 4.43 rear gears and a full tow package. Its rated for 2000 lbs. I hate driving my pickup in salt all winter... this will allow me to move tractors and such around, help my family and take trash to dump. All the while the GMC Sierras frame says Thank You! Thank You very much! A 4x6 trailer and one tractor with 42" sd deck is in the 1300 lb range. I tested it and am plesantly surprised at the performance. Engine is a 1.4 l F.I.R.E Turbo so far MPG average is 32.5 Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend Tony

5 pointsIf you are a supporter (USERNAME IN RED) of the best tractor website on the internet, you can get in on this. I have one Keyrack and four keychains that I will be drawing a name for on Friday the 20th. Post once here and you will go on the list. Good luck and thanks for being here! (USA ONLY)

5 pointsI do believe this image has been posted on here before, but I'm too lazy this morning to try and find it. It's currently showing up on some random truck facebook group page and there seems to be conflicting guesses on the lawn tractor.

5 pointsThe grass looks dead from the heat and lack of rain. I thought a good scratching may wake it up.

5 pointsNice, Tony. The 6 speed is a bonus - "The Ultimate Millineal anti theft device" - they have No clue what the third pedal is for...,,,
-
4 pointsHaven't tried that. Tried a carb, tried a coil and plug, tried the sticking exhaust valve. Just won't run. Guess I'll hit the hardware store for some red later.

4 pointsSpec # checks out as a ... they used the original shroud. Short block maybe? Just keeps gettin better... Found this under seat debris... regular freakin hardware store there... Now I gotta see if I can save the rusted tight needle nose... Whatthehellisthematta with a clown like me...

3 pointsTurbo -air 164 80 HP. 2 1bbl carbs one on each side. I had a 67 " Vair " with the 110 HP and Powerglide. It would go like stink!
-
3 pointsIt was an opposed air cooled flat six cylinder engine. The garden tractor being loaded appears to be a Speedex.

2 pointsI had to watch 3 of my grandsons the other day while my wife and daughter went to a funeral. They got kinda' antsy, so I figured "why not take them for a ride with ole' rusty". Went all around the property, up into the woods and back. They had a blast. So did I.

2 pointsThe belt sider cover on a 953/1054 has no lower belt guide, that is done by a piece of angle iron bolted to the engine and rear of the frame..

-
2 pointsGlad I bought both 6" and 5" nipples the 6" puts you too far out and bumps the clutch peddle arm after assembled, the 5" in my opinion is just right.
-
2 pointsAh, yes... the 2 speed Powerglide. With two forward speeds - "slip" and "slide"

2 pointsInrteresting engine may not have been the only thing swapped out. Tranny manual shows 103916 for a c-161 Briggs twin. (1-1/8" 8 pinion) 5086 is 1" 4 pinion used in several other models... I have never broken any WH gear tranny... Measure you axles....

2 pointsThose that speed them up and trail ride through the woods weld the differential. One reason is traction the other is to have brakes on steep hills. Braking one wheel will lock and the other will freewheel

2 pointsOn the Corvair pickup, VW had a pickup version of their bus, and so the US carmakers made their own. Ford had their Econoline vans and pickups, Chevrolet had the Corvair, and Dodge had their A-100 vans and pickups. The Corvair was closer to the VW design as it had a rear engine like the VW. The engine in the Corvair, I believe was an inline 6, air cooled if I remember correctly. Ford and Dodge had front mounted, liquid cooled engines. Chevrolet did bring out a front engine mounted van, but I can't remember if there was a pickup version.

1 pointThis one sitting in a field rotting away. So I rescued it. Tractor heavy and already have a 856 that needs love and I can't seem to give away. Saw it at a show several weeks ago and it was sitting there crying save me save me. I jokingly offered the owner a frankie for it and much to my surprise he took it. Motor was locked up so pulled it back to camp for a look see. @Achto @Wild Bill 633 and I commenced to wrenching to find out the motor is free but the SG is tight. Got it loosened up and messed with the points. Exhaust valve stuck open ... pop the head and free that up. Fired right off and drives. Service motor and seller says he has the original I could have but knowing him doubt I'll see it. Four year old Battery was stone cold dead... not a volt in it. Threw it on a charger and it did take a charge and seems to be holding it. Surprise surprise. Tires are abit needy but nothing serious. Best part everything is there, original cigar lighter woo hoo, and fairly unmolested. On the splash pad ready for a bath... sheet metal really straight. Seat & hitch worth the price of admission...

1 pointToday, is mom's 89th birthday. I called her this morning and figured she would want to go somewhere and eat. Nope, she wanted to go fishing. So we went fishing. She didn't catch anything and we only fished a hour and half or so. This is pretty amazing because this past year she had major surgery where the doctors removed her intestines (twice) looking for a puncture during a biopsy of her liver, a severe burn by an inexperienced nurse and removal of cancer from her head resulting in 3" diameter of flesh being removed down to her skull. She called a few minutes ago and said it was a fun day. The firebox on our Primo Kamando grill broke. I cleaned it out a few weeks ago and found the mess pictured below. After some searching I found that apparently this is a common problem--especially with older units. Newer fireboxes have slits in them that allow for expansion and compression that to have caused the breakage. If I had the receipt and proof of ownership, I might have gotten one replaced under warranty--but I don't so I didn't ask. The I purchased furnace cement as was suggested on the internet and "glued" the parts back together. In addition, I used metal plumber's strapping around the top and bottom to hold it together. I would be surprised that the furnace cement by itself will be a permanent repair so hopefully the plumbers strap will help. Unfortunately, I forgot to take after photos. Nevertheless, I plan to use it tomorrow afternoon,

1 pointMother in law had a "Vair" She forgot the brake one day and the car disappeared from her driveway. It ended up a block away after rolling down the hill! When my wife was in college she wanted a Christmas tree but had no money for one. She cleaned a high school at night and the school gave her this giant tree they used for the play. She got that tree jammed into the trunk. When I bought my 67, there were 31 empty quart motor oil bottles jammed all around the engine where the spare tire usually sat. It smoked like a fish until I replaced the pushrod tube seals.

1 pointFrozen slot hitch ...now after weeks of being shot with WD 40, Liquid wrench, and PB blaster( all now empty) I drilled two holes into the slot hitch and sprayed with more PB blaster it broke free!.. I have taped the holes and added grease zerks and a new lift cable and I can use the hitch! The pin doesn't move sideways...but doesn't matter size the slot hitch moves and will not be using a tiller anytime soon.

1 pointI don't think you can beat a Short Frame Square Hood with a K-181-S for starting by snapping your fingers. Both of mine start by looking at them...even in winter.

1 pointI bought this one for parts but it is too good for that so it is getting added to the herd. It is going to be kept as a survivor as opposed to getting a full on restoration. Everything will be brought up to snuff, mostly is right now. Tractor runs and drives great.
