I picked up a little bit of bling today. As a mentor for the local high school's robotics team, I got invited to the fall activities assembly for the presentation of the world championship rings because we were part of the winning alliance for the 2024 FIRST Robotics World Championship meet last May. This is a world wide competition. This year there were about 3600 active teams world wide. About 600 teams qualified for the World Championship competition in Huston last May. 8 alliances of 4 teams each competed in a double elimination format to determine the world champions. Our goal last season was to be one of those 32 teams - never dreamed that we would win. The students were heavily involved with the ring's design. That ring is heavy and a real clunker to wear. It stops my ring finger from completely curling. Guess I'll just have to put up with it.

Today I remover the dozer blade from the 418-C and installed the leaf blower in preparation for the annual deluge of leaves we have. When I built the blower I used an eight inch round air duct elbow to direct the air flow but replaced it with a shorter rectangular sheet metal piece. Works as well and doesn't stick out nearly as far.

Working on a little magnetic flag holder for the 414-8 hood. A few more tweaks and I think this will work perfectly!

I doubt anyone was really waiting for an update on this, but thought I should close the loop here… Purchased a few of the Sterling APDs (great customer service from the company owner/engineer in the UK) and did some experimenting on my test engines…start the engine, disconnect the battery, let it run for an hour under various loads and environmental conditions. Shut down and reconnect battery then restart. Check charging system function… Success! The protection modules did their job and the charging system remains functional. Control samples run w/o the protection circuit suffered RR failure about half the time. Anyway, if you are updating to a lithium battery and are worried that a BMS disconnect might smoke your regulator it looks like these gizmos can save it. It appears that they clamp the voltage to a safe level. And they also give off one helluva spark when making the initial connection. Both of those things suggest a sizable capacitor lives in there… Steve

We picked up a parts tractor for a black hood restoration project for my Son and I. The plastic dash piece was worth the overall price and everything else was a bonus.

Well the hood has it’s signature satin black front. It turned out fairly well but it certainly was nerve wracking making sure I got it right and masked off properly. My only gripe and maybe it’s me being critical is having to cheat the tape line on the RH side so it lined up properly with the rest of the hood. But this hood was twisted and some spot welds were broke out along with the grill being pushed in so all things considered I’ll take it

Our 18 month old granddaughter and zI took a ride on the C160. We just idle around a little since I didn’t have any ear muffs for her. She loves to crawl up and sit on the tractor.

Somehow an off road vehicle with an electrical cord connected to it seem like an oxymoron. Looks good and the fuel mileage is impressive. $ 17,000 OFF, last three new trucks I bought were all under $ 17,000..............................of course it has been a while since I bought a new truck. Hybrids are a great concept but there are so many extra parts and electronic components I would have to opt for the BEST EXTENDED bumper to bumper warranty. The price of repairs on conventional vehicles is getting outrageous, I can't imagine what it could be for something that complex.

today I was at the greenfield swap meet and I found me a wheel horse snow mobile, it was one pic of plastic, he said the hood blew off on the way there I did not see it going back home but that sucks the sead and plastic he had but burnt up in a house fire. it had a Kohler looks origonal I have done no reaserch yet. it looks to be there and the tank I just checked is full of rust. so, but the engine is there and everything else seems to be there, it has electric start. so are any plastics for it available, and I just looked it up the engine is origonal. or from other pictures it is, I will get pictures off my phone in a few, I need plastics and what kind of gas tank is it did any other horses use them, anything helps, I am clueless about it besides a know its a WH engine looks to be there and its missing some stuff. thanks -Keaton forgot to add I got it for free but I gave him $10 because I felt bad for taking it, it is the same guy I also got my 701 from

IMO, as a certified EV tech, plug-ins are the best of both worlds in terms of what is available right now. Most of the ones that I am familiar with have a pretty small electric only range though. The Ford plug-ins, which are the ones I know the best, only have about a 14-mile electric-only range. Looks like the 4xe can go about 21. From a practical point of view I'd rather see the original Wrangler Hybrid proto-type built. It's arrangement looked more like the i3-Rex, where it was basically a fully electric vehicle with a little one-cylinder engine on board to run a generator to power the EV power train. This is essentially a scaled-down version of the powertrain used by diesel locomotives that allows CSX to claim "one ton of freight moved one mile on one gallon of fuel".

Turns out the Ace at my location doesn't stock anymore. Found another supplier AGS Co. out of MI I think. Ace wanted 9.00 bucks, AGS had them for little over 2.00 I got two at that cost plus shipped UPS free. Have under 5.00 bucks in the pair. Just thought i'd pass the info on. Now to the EZ drain valve....

Do the "connecting a test lead from battery positive to coil positive and trying to crank it and look for spark." There is NO LOW OIL LEVEL SWITCH. This idea comes up from time to time. The oil PRESSURE switch turns on the oil pressure light when there is no pressure, once running the oil pressure switch turns on the hour meter. That is all it does.

Thanks I did try a couple places on the fender with eazy off.I let it sit for about a min.Used a scrubbing pad. It worked well removing the paint,not perfect but good enough for me I just don’t Iike the two tone thing going on. Later after I get it all cleaned up I’ll go over it with boiled linseed oil.I find this brings out the old paint pretty well and keeps the rust at bay. All my machines are workers so not looking for perfect I’ll post a pic when it’s all done

to the Like Lynn noted, the black hub does appear to have an uneven gap with the axle housing. I would remove the wheel and hub and inspect the axle for damage and try to determine why the hub was replaced.

Breaking down the new to me C-101 .Flushed the gear case with diesel twice .Removed break band ,needs to be replaced. Tomorrow the rest comes apart.The fun has just begun

@Desko nice work on that ! your empty frame pictures , thinking a 5/16 steel brake line inside the corner edge of frame for a fuel line , then compression swage lok fittings for shorter rubber hose connection from tank to carb , reducing the fuel hose break down scenario , just a thought , pete

Oh well. Mine went AWOL for two days then showed up back on it's rail today mid-morning. I'm guessing that one of the other two long-term techs had it. The three of us have worked together long enough that we just borrow from each other as needed, as long as everything makes it home at the end of the day no one gets mad.

I have to agree with Bob I also notice a fair amount of "pock marks" that go down to the metal. Even if you do get all the second layer of paint off you will still have to/should do deal with these spots that go down to the metal. Just my .02 cents. Your mileage may vary

Not really a coaster, though it could be used for that purpose. This item is going to be used to cover a hole at the center of the flywheel screen. It is a work in progress and this is the first iteration so please ignore the hole on the edge of the hub. This was made using Libracad, a 2D CAD program which allowed me to load it into Estlcam, a simplie CAM program. Estlcam created the G-code file that the CNC router used to create the part.

No argument here and that's a pretty machine! I'm putting the Navajo White on a c-160 and I think the correct wheel color is debatable so I'm just going with a classic look.
