3 pointsI had a dented up hood that came off my C160, I had been thinking about doing somthing like this for a while now, didn’t take long and was a super easy project.. what do you guys think?
-
3 pointsThat's a little puller! Glad you said modest! I used a 13 ton puller from work when I took the wheel off of my 1267. The pin didn't budge so I had to use a 24" Crescent wrench to turn the puller screw to shear the pin. No flip flops were worn with that puller around!

2 pointsHi Kevin, I believe you have to at least lift the motor a bit to get the lower shaft out. I’d replace the steering block while you’re at it. Brian from K+B Wheel Horse Parts should have it. The hardest part may be removing the steering wheel from the shaft. Recently I had to use two Port a Powers and a two foot long piece of 3/4” round stock that I hit with a sledgehammer.

2 pointsOur good friend that does truck fabrication for a living was telling us all about the amazing qualities of anaerobic sealer and how they've pretty much switched over to using that almost exclusively. I bought some so they could use it on my truck when we rebuild the rear axle. I got thinking that might be good in the application here for trying to seal up the valve cover. I didn't realize that it can't be laid down on top of paint so I scraped the painted surface under the gasket for the breather off with a razor and then some sandpaper and then cleaned it with brake clean on a rag. Put the new base gasket in. All installed and setting to dry.

2 pointsYes it’s the motor/blower part for the trac vac system I cobbled together. I have no other parts for the plow. But what’s there looks barely used.
-
2 pointsI agree with @Bill D. If you want to be sure that it’s not the deck causing the issue, disconnect the belt from the PTO pulley. If it still cuts out after that, it’s very likely a safety switch issue.

2 pointsAh yup, I have enough distractions in my life and I sure don’t aspire to being an “influencer."

2 pointsI got a little sears/craftsman tractor off Facebook this afternoon I believe it is a 7 or 8 hp Briggs engine turns over and was told it has spark. got it home and coated the underside in pennatration oil and let it soak and see that levers and buttons work in the morning I was told it is a 88 mini redo and I have pictures of it and the ID, I'm looking for a manual hopefully and maybe a year or whatever you can find, I will post in a few forums, thanks, and don't know if I can say the price but I cant say no for $50.i believe the id says some numbers but I cannot find much and I may not have the right front grille off a few pictures but I got no idea -Keaton

2 pointsPutt Putt received a new 1/2”x71” belt from TSC today. It pulls a plow much nicer in the dirt! For all the plowing I’ve done to make it 6 years, I think I’ll keep trying my luck with Husky brand!
-
2 pointsDriving up the toy hauler ramp, the drive belt was slipping a bit. I grabbed a 1/2x70 and 1/2x71 belt from the local TSC. The 70” fit Steve Oh Two and Putt Putt received the 71”. Perfect. I was blown away to see pinstriping on the HY drive pulley under the belt guard. Amazing! Notice too, this frame has been plated at the transmission mount. Good to know!

2 pointsThank you everyone for the birthday wishes. Had a good day, though we didn’t do much. Had to work all day, then went out to the farm and checked all the cattle, we are still waiting on one calf to finish out the year so keeping a close eye on that. Didn’t get any seat time on anything last night, but did get a little bit of wrench time in on the old Farmall M I’ve got in the shop right now.

2 pointsI once worked with a Design Engineer where she and 2 of her 3 daughters were Vegans. I asked her if they fought over the clippings when they cut the lawn....

2 pointsThank you everyone for the suggestions! @squonk, your tractor is gorgeous. I would love to drive it in the sunshine, but it is sooo fancy! I would trash it in an instant. HAHA!

2 pointsI smoked a venison hind roast yesterday. It was seasoned with dry rub when we vacuum packed it. I took it out and smoked it at 150 for three hours, and foil wrapped it with the juice from the package and a bit of butter. I cranked it to 200 for two more hours. I then brought it inside and seared it in bacon grease before resting and slicing.
-
2 pointsThe eight speed Transaxles didn't change all that much from one year to the next. You have a 1986 so the 85-1993 is the manual you should use.
-
2 pointsI mulch them in... mow more frequently to avoid thick build up. Same with leaves until too thick, then blown to piles, put in cans / bags for curbside pickup by city contractor.
-
2 pointsMost of the time my grass clippings lay were the fall. This junk summer grass just lays on top and so I'll sweep if it starts building up. The swept grass goes on compost pile. My neighbor, who has never owned a home before, has a hard time keeping up with his grass. I usually sweep his yard a couple time a season and dump it under the trees by the fence row. I do this unannounced and he usually texts and thanks me.
-
2 pointsBeen moving a few decks around the garage. I’m out of room, so I ordered some more pallet racking to make a little more. That’s the hope anyway.
-
2 pointsHood primed and painted. After this dries for a few days I will do the black and clear.
-
2 pointsI have had 17 and 20 HP twin engines and never used them for mowing. IMO, they burn too much fuel and throw off too much heat to be used hot summer mowing. I do still have my 520H with a heated cab and a dual stage blower. It has only been used for snow removal. BTW, I use turf tires and rubber chains on the 312H for pushing the 48" snow plow, and I am amazed by the traction. And of course they don't mark up the paving on the 5 driveways i keep clear.

1 point@kthomas62 If your steering wheel has a removable center cap the shaft can be pressed out. My wheel didn’t have a removable cap. Yes getting the roll pin out can be a real challenge too! A proper roll pin punch is a necessity. I think someone here said they had good luck using masonry bits to drill it out. One thing I know for sure is that this is the best place for anything Wheel Horse, with the nicest people on the internet.

1 pointThe late model steering wheel was a bit odd looking. I don’t have a correct one here, but a closer one. A couple weeks ago I began soaking. Today, I earned a right of passage.
-
1 pointThat engine mounted on the rear hitch looks like it might be a hone brew. Would be interesting to know what it powered.

1 pointThis looks like parts of a WH setup from Brinley that had a single frame configurable for a soil plow (with an optional coulter), or a crossbar with clamps to hold cultivator tines, or a frame holding an eight-disk harrow. Attaches using a sleeve hitch. I see the red main frame, soil plow, the cultivator cross bar (at far right with flange for attaching to the main frame), and the harrow frame (under the other parts with the slotted holes). Missing: soil plow depth adjustor, harrow discs, cultivator teeth, coulter. Here’s an image of a complete set:

1 pointDo a good diesel fuel flush on that tranny before you open it up to get as much loose junk and gear oil out of it, as you can. That may aid you in cleaning everything up.
-
1 pointHere, "Yard Waste" is picked up twice a month by the Town if is in paper bags or open 30 gallon trash cans. Then it goes to a central compost site.
-
1 pointnow I'm looking for a dighram of it or the owners manual for one day when I end up taking it apart, I found the model and it in the 1975 sears catalog
-
1 pointCR 7475 You can also use 7474 I like the double lip better I put a speedie sleeve in one Was a bit of an issue getting the ring torn off after insertion. Suggest slightly breaking the ring to start
-
1 pointThe early 520's had the charge wire go from the regulator directly to the battery wire on the starter solenoid with a 30 amp inline fuse. I don't know why the change to putting all the charge current through the 9 pin but I convert all of mine to the early style and have never had a 9 pin fail. I keep the 9 pin connector so I can swap engines between machines if need be.

1 pointSurgery went as planned. The tumor is removed and colon sewn together. I have a stoma to use for three months to let the colon heal then they will reverse the stoma.
-
1 pointI sent you pictures of my tractor I have for sale on FB. I have it in the classified here as well. About 40 miles to the east of Geneseo.
-
1 pointGot a break in the weather. Underside of hood primed. Not a perfect job but OK for my skills
-
1 pointBetween the holes in the front, cracks on the bottom and no brace making it feel very flimsy I was on the lookout for a better hood. However, now that the holes and cracks are welded up and the brace welded in I thought I might as well sand it down and see how it looks. You are right, it looks pretty good with the scratches and surface rust sanded off. Now if my paint job turns out we will be good to go. If not I will sand it off and try again. Hoping to begin painting on Thursday if the weather forecast is correct about sunshine finally.
-
1 pointThat looks VERY clean. Not much pitting going on by the looks of it.
-
1 pointThe MRI showed my treatments had a satisfactory outcome. The oncologist said he was hoping for a 20% reduction of the tumor and the final results was nearly 50% . Cancer no longer in lymph nodes or prostate. The surgeon said the reduction allows for robotic surgery which will be faster recovery. Of course once surgery starts it could change. Surgery is scheduled for August 26.
