11 pointsGentlemen, I have been busy plowing earth before installing a hedgerow. This was my first time using a ground engaging implement (and plowing) and I was amazed by what the tractor, a 68 Charger 12, could do!

7 pointsIt's been 5 weeks since my 98 yo MIL (who lives with us) fell and broke her hip. The surgical team said , we can let it heal naturally which will take 6 weeks before she can put weight on it and she will probably never walk again due to the muscle loss. Or, If she can handle the surgery, we can pin the fermur and she can walk in a few days. The medical team reviewed her medical history and agreed to allow the surgery. She spent one week in the hospital due to low blood pressure, then two weeks at a PT hospital, then two weeks of PT at home by the VNA. She is now walking with a cane and this morning we are headed to the Delaware Bay for a week of crabbing.

5 points@LandoCommando214I unprofessionly redid one a few years ago. Best thing I did to it was removing the shaker mounts for solid mounts. Wondering if you did the same. Before and after of mine. You did a great job.

4 pointsGlad to hear and I always have this fear from my accident 13 years ago . Last November I was in the hospital for a week for a cyst that was right below my c3/4 vertebrae . Even though I’m a quadriplegic I can move my limbs but when this hit me I couldn’t move anything like the first few months of my injury . Super high dose of iv steroids over 4 days and I regained what I’d lost . You are very lucky as the patient in the room next to me had the same issues you had but he didn’t make it home . I am never alone if I have to be admitted into a hospital and they are always watching them . I learned this from the first couple days of my stay in the 4 months I lived there .

3 pointsExactly your point made. I had a LPN try to argue the point that they did not need to inject saline to keep the line clear. What followed was a leak that lost precious life saving antibiotics. If she had injected the cleansing saline first,the leak would have been revealed. I raised a big stink about it and she was banned from coming back. You never saw the same person for more than two days straight. Care ranged from Florence Nightingale to Nurse Ratchet. The patients I feel sorry for are the ones so infirm that they cannot advocate for themselves. You did not hijack this thread. It's not about me but is to alert anyone else who might expect that perfect care is gonna happen anymore.

3 pointsIn all honesty, your best bet, especially considering if you have difficulty getting the parts (and count yourself lucky finding one) , you'd be best served by popping the transmission apart and also inspecting all the other bearings and gears (and cleaning out the mess that is almost sure to be inside) Odds are excellent if your bearing failed completely so that it appears missing, you may still have a bit of the old bearing outer race sitting in the transmission case , which would explain why new bearing would not start in. (and to get that worn thin piece of hard steel out of the case, takes a lot of patience and some clever work with a good squared-up punch... often from the inside of the case, meaning transmission torn down. I have done quite a few of those.) If the bearing had been gone for long enough, and you're unlucky (like me) you may have to replace the whole case half if the cluster gear shaft wore into the case after losing the bearing. At the very minimum of everything else is in perfect condition (probably won't be) all you would then need would be the transmission case gasket, fresh gear oil, and your bearing. But if it was so far gone that one of those needle bearings went missing - I'd lay odds the bearing failed and wore away, and the shaft itself may have damage that will simply tear up a new bearing. If the bearing actually popped out, then there's a problem with the case if it allowed bearing to come out like that - they'll be a very precise press fit to the case, so only situation I can imagine for a "missing" needle bearing , you're going to have a lot more problems to take care of than just the bearing itself.

3 pointsYoung and Dumb Funny Story So shortly after I got my Dl license I got bought a rough 66 Ford 3/4 ton truck. There was an old junk dump truck on farm with an electric 3 trumpet horn. Being 16 and dumb I mounted it on my truck. I played Cornet in band so what would be cooler than playing the horns on my truck. Horn was wired to battery with heavy wire from dump truck. So I put 3 round door bell buttons in truck. Of course I wired those up with speaker wire, maybe 14 or 16ga. The first time I hit those buttons it drew so much current that wire and buttons melted and horn stayed on. I had to disconnect battery to stop horn. My Dad just said I got a good electrical lesson, but I seem to remember Mom being P.O. at me.

2 pointsI picked up a light duty leaf shredder back about 2018 to see if we'd like it. Turns out the leaf shredder part is ok but what we really used was the branch chipper. That one will chip things only up to the size of a broomstick or so. Armed with that knowledge I started watching the local sale sites for a heavier duty machine. A few months later I found our Mackissic chipper shredder. We've used it here for a few years and even brought it down the street to help a neighbor. It's an excellent machine. The side chute accepts a branch up to 3½, 4" and will chip soft or hard wood .. as long as the belt stays tight. One of the things to be addressed is to add a better idler system. Another is to repair the interior metal screen. It's pretty bent up. I'll also be flipping all the hammers to get a fresh clean sharp edge. The main reason I decided to do a repaint now is that the side anvil and blade needs to be removed, sharpened and readjusted on installation. This is the thread I'll be using as the main reference. Thank you @gwest_ca for all your help in that thread. This pic is to show me that the spacer is on the Right side of the frame. Here's a set of "before" pics.

2 pointsThe #1529 bearing equates to SKF M-12121. You have to open the trans to make sure there is not any remnants from the old bearing. Then you can tap in the bearing properly...with out the cluster gear shaft in the way. The bearing should be tapped in far enough to be even with the outside of the case. You stand a good chance of ruining the bearing by trying to tap it in with the cluster gear shaft in place.

2 pointsPart number for a 312-8 hood is 112358, part number for a 252-H hood is 113458. So I would say no they won't interchange.

2 pointsI was glad to have brought Mrs. P’s Panzer to the Portage show. I forgot about this video I took while there. I figured I’d post it. Quite the work of art! His stack baffles were grinder wheel nuts and he couldn’t believe I figured him out. It was quite creative!

2 pointsGlad to hear that you are on the road to recovery. Your story seems a lot like my stroke rehab. While at the inpatient rehab the nurses and therapists took great care of me and the doctor always made sure I understood what was being done and why. Walking the way you are is a great indicator, it has been four months since the stroke and for the first few weeks I was in bed getting no exercise. Amazing how much muscle loss can take place and how long it takes to rebuild what you had.

2 pointsMAN, I am glad that you are feeling better and home soon. I have a lot of family that I wish I could clone in that field. I have visited family/friends enduring different things in the hospital and I can say I would not give a passing grade. I takes quite special people that give a damn in that field to be successful and it involves all parties. I have a lot of love and respect for nurses. Those that are knowledgeable and care are priceless. One example... Dad was in the trauma E.R. Stable ish. Nurse /Phleb. came in to take blood samples. I am very knowledgeable in this field however I am the least qualified (not my field). She prepped a vein below the I.V. I told her that was a nursing 101 NO NO. Luckily my Sister (P.H.D. Nurse) and Aunt retired E.R. nurse returned and corrected. Huge deal, NO. Its just details. If you intend to do things half ass choose a field that doesn't involve lives. Sorry to Hi jack. I am happy for you and hope for a speedy recovery. Keep doing the great work and get better soon!

2 pointsOk first picture is the ohm test on both stator wires. 2nd picture is battery ground to rectifier ground ohms. No pic. Tested each stator wire with ground. No reading.

2 pointsYeah, I like the way it sounds. I still haven't gotten the steering wheel off the column, even drilling with carbide and cobalt bits. I'm close though. I don't think there's much roll pin left outside the steel of the column, but it won't hammer off, so maybe I just need to let it soak with penetrant for a while. I'm looking forward to having some fun fabbing up a motion pedal on this thing.

And yes that’s definitely the correct hood stand.

2 pointsPainted the front porch stair rails today… gonna need another coat… After that I took the 84’ Work Horse and the 94’ 520H out for a trot to keep them limber… When I take them out like this I usually run them in reverse for a bit… just to move those gears as well. When I was going backwards on the Work Horse(8 speed) at WOT and high range, I noticed the tranny whining a bit. I know reverse on manuals usually make a little noise, but I am wondering if what seemed to me to be a little loud is normal…

2 pointsAs my working smarter not harder project unwinds I have a second part that is rattling around in my head. My trailer does not have a tilt function and unloading the 4x8x2 box in the past was simple. Line it with a tarp and load the leaves in. Upon arrival at the dumping location I would drop the tailgate and pull the leaf loaded tarp right out the back. Worked like a charm. I'm expecting it to be a bit more difficult this year with my hip's arthritis acting up so badly. So....the trailer bed is big enough for a 4x8 sheet of plywood with plenty of wiggle room. My idea is to drop in the ply and hinge it on the bed of the trailer just inside the tailgate. When ready to dump use the winch to raise the front end of the floor creating a slide for the leaf loaded tarp to slide out the back with less pulling effort. Heck the plywood slide could be waxed to reduce friction. Thoughts.

2 pointsHow about having a tarp attached to the back of the trailer floor. and front wall with an accumulation shelf for enough tarp to reach back a couple feet on the top. The top part of the tatp would be attached to two pieces of rope that is routed through a pair of pullies. When the trailer has been backed into the dumping area you block the trailer wheels, unhook the trailer, attach the ropes to the and drive forward. the tarp will move to the back taking most of the leaves with it. You will have a few leaves to be unloaded by hand but most of the load will be on the ground.

2 pointsFinally got the diesel working in the RJ. Still have a few minor adjustments to do but less than I expected. Need to set up the thumb throttle so I dont have to reach down on engine to control throttle. Want to drive it around a bit to be sure all is good. Over winter need to find a complete hood hopefully with a fuel tank. Then I can remove the existing tank which will allow an original hood to fit. I will make a mini stack that will clear hood. Unfortunately I had to trim hood a bit more but seeing that it was already cut I wasn't as reluctant.
