6 pointsDid a pulley swap on the no name 8. (Sorry for the voiceover, my mom was recording for my family for me) VID_20230717_175811892.mp4

5 pointsWhy not use the tried and true Shell Rotella T1 straight 30 weight Conventional oil - has zinc, will not blow a hole thru your wallet....? For a bit more, you can go with the T5 Synthetic blend......... both readily available.

5 points..., my Wife of 46 years took her last breath and was gone. We buried her a week ago Saturday - she was diagnosed in late March with Esophageal Cancer. The sucessful recovery rate for that is appalingily low - 15%...... My adult children and I had to ask her 2 weeks before she passed as to just what her final wishes were, so it be clear in her final days. With the help of Friends, Old and New, we were able to meet her requests. She wanted to die at home... after her last Hospital stay, we had the help from Home Hospice to meet that request. They are exceptional people. Check... She wanted to be buried wearing her Wedding Gown. That one took the help from an old friend - my Best Man's Father in law. The FIL owned a string of Dry Cleaning stores in the Boston area, and as a Wedding present 46 years ago to my Wife, he cleaned and preserved her Gown on a form, Vacuum sealed in plastic, placed in a box, in a box, in a box. We had it saved for just that purpose. Check... She wanted to be buried locally in the same Cemetary as her Parents, in a plot near them for she and I, This almost did not happen - old Cemetary that was so full up, they recently demolished the Chapel to add a few more gravesites - and those were now full. I have known the Funeral Director for 25 years or more - he did a little checking and there was ONE double plot available that was recently sold back to the Church, as the previous family had other plans. He reserved it for us, part of the final bill. Just a row behind her parents, about 8 graves away. Check... Through the decline of her health, my Wife never lost her sense of humor. I took her for numerous CAT Scans and MRI's - the technicians have a shopping list of questions to be answered prior to the procedure... Do you have any metal in your body - pins, plates, or screws? - Nope she would reply. Dentures or partial plates? - another Nope. Any tattoos? - she would look them in the eye and say that there was no ink on her Birthday Suit!! Driving her home, she would remark that those technicians had a crappy job, and they needed a bit of cheering up..... Folks I run into ask how I am doing. I tell them I am not at the point were each day gets a little better, but each day sucks a little less than the day before..... Bill

5 pointsThis past weekend in Marshall Mi. there was a tractor show and pull . I sent the kids out for photos and this is what I have . The pictures don’t do justice for how many tractors are there as the antique tractor club grounds are across the street where the pulls were being held . I never made It over there but it was packed with tractors too . Has anyone else seen a AVCO NewIdea cart ? I personally didn’t see a Wheel Horse there but caught this guy pulling out with a load of Amigo’s and they have their own story . https://www.farmcollector.com/tractors/tractors-collections/amigo-classic-garden-tractors-zm0z23janzawar/

3 pointsTB testing at the farm today, due to having beasts in some fields within a 5 mile radius of an other farm, that has tested for TB in some cattle. 8hrs testing 300 plus animals in the non stop pouring rain. Even with water proofs I got wet in places I didn't think possible. Home now. Rain stopped and sun trying to show. Typical!

3 pointsWhat we've got here is a clear-cut case of not having enough half broken bungees.
-
3 pointsWelcome. The leak may be a result of the axle needle bearing failing. Jack her up and see if there is any up/down front/rear movement in the wheel hub assembly. If so need to replace the axle bearing. 1/8" or so of in/out movement is OK

3 pointsNice score Bill! My C105 was my 1st Wheel Horse- $200 purchase & it was only 4miles away. It's my go to work horse for snow removal, dirt spreading, trailer moving, etc.

2 pointsJust wondering how many gardeners have been a victim of "Peppergate" this year? @WHX??, I know you were a victim of Peppergate. Apparently this is not isolated to Wisconsin. I purchased plants that were marked as poblano peppers this spring, same flat, same label in with the peppers. Well.... I have a mixture of poblano and cubanelle peppers.. One of my "jalapeno" plants is actually a serrano plant. So far I'm not too upset about my experience with Peppergate, actually found out that cubanelle's taste pretty darn good when stuffed. Taste kind of like a sweet banana pepper. I just added some of my surprise serrano's to the stuffing mix to jack the heat up a little. Cooked up some of my surprise cubanelle peppers stuffed with chicken, cream cheese, black beans, tomato, chopped surprise serrano peppers and cheddar cheese on the smoker, Added a little sour cream and home made salsa for toppings for a most excellent meal. A little info on 2023 "Peppergate". https://www.housedigest.com/1333331/peppers-mislabeled-peppergate-seed-jalapeno/

2 pointsIt lives! It doesn't do much else, but it lives! Doesn't charge the battery and I'm not sure what this melted fuse goes to, but it's a start! received_665734635029106.mp4

2 pointsBeen meaning to post pics with mine on my 414-8 for a yr because this post really helped me out. Triple bypass in Jan got in the way of posting my Triple Rib tias....lol These are Deestone 4:00-8 on 4" rims? May be 3.5" rims but old WH rims made for 4:00 tire with tapered bearings if that helps any. Done forgot actual rim width sorry all. 4" is my bet, Lordy Lordy I think I'm an old fart folks. Well no more sliding around slowing my old arse down, Im safer cruising on high now..lol. Well high sometimes, I really sped her up substantially..so hit high you hang on tight, yeehaw! Grip is just fantastic on my hills with tri-ribs, I highly recommend them. Best part its just like having power steering man! If you suffer from upper extremity issues like myself, this is your answer! They don't call them "Easy Steer" for nothing that's a fact.

2 pointsStraight weight synthetic motor oils are rare, Amsoil and Royal Purple have it.

2 pointsTwo words: Got goats? I've never done lawns year round, and I do love snow and winter, but the uncertainty of snow frequency and amount makes cutting grass a more reliable and predictable activity... but, I can appreciate that it would get old...

2 pointsMay have been a victim of tag switching? Some like screwing around to mess with certain stores. The farmer market here is the best pepper place. Prices not to bad. I love those stuffed cubanelle with 50/50 ground beef and pork, rice, egg and tomato soup. and a side of mashed taters.
-
2 pointsOmg, Im so sorry to hear this sir. I know my words wont help much, so Ill say a few more prayers tonight our freind. Keep the family close, even those who need a kick in the pants at times help with this pain. I mean' who's better to holler at right? Damn sorry for your loss Bill! 🙏 ❤️🩹

2 pointsI don't know the KT17 so will wait for others to chime in but a word of caution in the mean time. From what little I can tell, it is possible that your float has stuck and it is being flooded. If that is the case and depending on how much you've cranked it, a considerable amount of fuel could have made it's way into the crank case which YOU DO NOT WANT. If you pull your dipstick and it smells like fuel or appears to be diluted, don't try to run it until we can figure out what's going on.

2 pointssorry for your loss. happy you had that conversation. I had the same conversation with my father before he passed. He too told me his final wishes and was able to grant everyone of them. May she rest in peace.
-
2 pointsI am very sorry to hear about you loss. On a good note all of her wishes were honored and met which is a great thing for you and the children to live with. It’s refreshing and inspirational to hear of someone with such a sense of humor through out the most difficult time of their lives. It teaches us a lot on how to deal with adversity and difficult moments . The fact that she wanted to buried in her wedding gown states volumes on what she felt about you and your marriage . Incredible gesture and presence of mind. May she rest in peace .

2 pointsgreat machines -- lucky you !!! I have the plastic seat pans on my two blackhood C175's -- i know some people prefer the tin pans but to me the plastic gives the unique characteristic look of the black hoods - plus i am fortunate no cracks in my pans !!!!!!

1 pointIt looks like @gwest_ca gave you your answers but I'll add that the plates and bells I have are either 6" or 6 3/4" OD but both should work for you. The newer, larger ones just have more lining and might engage differently, or might have been for larger HP motors and ground engaging equipment, IDK. Here is a recent thread that @davem1111 started about replacing the linings...

1 pointI really do appreciate it. If I need them I'll let you know. I located some bushings at a local hardware by phone to pick up tomorrow; hope they're correct. They have a good selection of screws also so hopefully I have it covered already. I got some kerosene and put in a little Berryman's B-12 to soak it overnight to get any varnish out of the places that I cant get to. I located a carb' rebuild kit at a local small engine shop. I went ahead and took the sheet-metal off and will pull the head to see how flat it looks on a granite countertop with .003 feeler gage. While I have the carb out of the way I'll check the valves. I need to get it back on line this weekend if possible. It's hot down here to be pushing again.

1 pointLast winter was mild for where I live. We are prone to "lake effect" snow squalls that can dump accumulating snow by the foot in a very short time. I have a 2stage walk behind Toro for those big snows. Overall the 10hp w/blower works pretty good. 1st or 2nd gear sending the power to blower allowing it to consume the snow & throw it effectively. My driveway is level & new cement so tire chains are out of question! I do run rear wheel weights & an additional 90lbs on rear hitch. With dozer blade it pushes snow pretty good- it's all technique. I really need to get a 2stage blower but that will also involve a higher HP tractor. A typical winter here a 2stage is a must have.

1 pointI was able to get the throttle plate screws out successfully and found the shaft to be worn by 5 thousandths.

1 pointMight be on to something Joe. A store tag switching to get rid of plants that don't sell? I don't think so big jims 10" pods...these are barely 3 most only 2" The small pods and light green color is what tipped me off I ain't in Blonoville anymore...

1 pointIt had then new, only 70+ years ago. Their are repop one for sale on eBay from time to time. You need the belt guard or a wire clutch finger for it to shift properly

1 pointBill, I cannot say I know how you feel as I have not walked in your shoes, however my children and I are waiting to hear the report from an Oncologist regarding testing for their Mother. We were married 45 years ago. As of now . no news. My sincere prayer for you is for God to ease the suffering that you must be experiencing now while you go through this transition.

1 pointPulled down drywall in the lake house bathroom project today. NO grounds in the bathroom wiring, and some water damaged sheathing under the plastic frame 'update' window. Looks like I'll be replacing the wiring clear back to the breaker panel to correct the grounding situation. I really didn't want to pull siding and work around that window. But, water inside the wall is not good.

1 pointThis past weekend was our annual trip to Owl's Head Transportation Museum just outside of Rockland Maine. The campground we stayed at was Sennebec Lake Campground in Appleton. We were... Impressed. Neither Trina and I are normally into retail type paid campgrounds. This one, an exception. Very good service from helpful owners. The maintenance guy as well. Friendly fellow campers were more than happy to help transport one of our group that had an injured ankle around the grounds. The view from the site we had. Might be a bald eagle if you can find it in the pic: Here's the two Military trucks owned by our friends. Absolutely excellent show. Cloudy weather but good showing. Lots of kids FASCINATED with the tractors. I like to see younger people enjoying machinery and I hope they learn to be even more involved in the future. We had several families bringing the little ones over and setting them on both of our tractors. I had a unique opportunity and met some great folks today. Older fella and his friends and family from Florida originally were showing a Peterbilt with a moving truck trailer up here in Maine. He'd actually used a WHEELHORSE in his moving business many years ago!! The tractor was connected to a 4 x 4 trailer that he'd hitch up to go UNDER the skyscrapers in Boston back when he didn't have a truck that would fit. The group was showing a 1911((??)) Mack truck there at the museum and they needed some things moved from where we were unloading our own trailer over to the new hanger/workshop building. I said, toss it all in the trailer after the Wheelhorses are out and I'll bring it over. I'll bet the Ole fella thanked us at least 8 times throughout the day. Great people. This particular rig is a 3/4 scale Pete on an F350 chassis. The engine is a Cummins from a Dodge. Started out life at 160 HP. It was rebuilt and built up to 300 HP. Transmission is a 13 speed commercial truck manual. The cab and doors are from a Peterbilt. Shaved down to proper scale. The rest of the body parts are all hand made. This was a real worker!! It went over 160,000 miles pulling small equipment and specialty loads around the country. It was partially retired awhile back and relegated to tugging the John Deere behind it. Here's most of the garden tractor lineup. This Walter is the only one I've ever seen as a fifth wheel tractor. The trailer was 10 ft wide in its daily usage heyday. This Owls Head Museum's own Wheelhorse. This coal truck was vintage around 1905, 1910. It was used for 15 or 20 years then parked because the business's model changed a bit. After a good many decades of setting in a warehouse on a pier there were a fair amount of folks wanting to aquire it. Unfortunately the pier itself had gone soft and no one dared touch for another 2 or 3 decades. A rescue plan was put together. This is exactly how it looked when it was finally saved. Here's a few other pics of various things.

1 pointBill that is just great. Having both tractors should be a blast for your son and you. Enjoy the ride.

1 pointDid little today just some painting on some pices hoping Tuesday to rebuilt the generator then get it on and worked on the wiring next that's the planned this week

1 pointI do not use non-ethanol fuel. I agree about doing the appropriate maintenance first. Help me understand what this realistically involves … removing, disassembling and cleaning the carburetor, removing, disassembling and cleaning the old fuel pump, replacing the old fuel lines to the gas tank ??? Am I on the right track? What are the gotcha’s I should be aware of? Thanks!

1 pointI've never worked on a horse this new before. It needs a new fuse block. The one on it has a couple melted in there so I need to check for shorts. Trans has some issues. The set screw for the shifter is broken off and she doesn't shift. Nothing we can't fix though!
